Why bother when the efforts of somebody or other, or just random chance, will eventually provide a solution (probably). Then Trump can take credit, say that was the plan all along, and as it simply makes no difference what he does or says he'll still get votes. If people die in the meantime it's only because they want to make him look bad anyway.

This President has nobody to blame but himself - if he was interested in truth and fairness he would be trying to comfort a wounded nation facing 125,0000 recent deaths and 40+ million unemployed!

Now he's attempting to repeal Obamacare in the middle of a pandemic without providing a replacement - just when Americans think that things can't get any worse, this President is determined to take away their healthcare!

The fact remains that America has 125,000 dead, 2.5 million confirmed cases, 40,000 testing positive daily, the very real prospect of the healthcare systems in many states being overwhelmed and 40+ million unemployed!

Instead of addressing these problems, this President and his supporters would prefer to divert the public's attention by "tilting at windmills" - in this case, trying to score political points at the expense of a former President whose name won't even be appearing on the ballot in November!

Simply put, once again Trump and his supporters are indulging themselves by playing these political games rather than providing the nation with the necessary leadership in its time of need!

I wonder if he ever realizes that these kinds of comparisons just do him more damage.

I don't think that there's any plan in Trump's mind here. He's obsessed with Obama; his first public humiliation had to do with his birther beliefs, and he can't get past that.

Again, you've provided no evidence that the research in question would have been beneficial at all. You don't even know what the research actually was. All you see is Coronavirus, bats and Trump cuts funding and you jump to conclusions without asking any questions.

Yes, I live in the Puget Sound Area, not far from Seattle-Tacoma airport where a large portion of Chinese (including the probable? original carrier of Covid-19) came into the country. In the weeks before any announcement from any government officials (including our governor) I kept reading numerous reports (all local) of the major airlines closing flights from China due to Covid-19. Lots of people were getting very, very sick! It wasn't until a couple weeks later that a Federal government official made any moves. By then, even the governor was very vocal and we were closing more and more and cancelling more and more. Local papers from mid to late Jan would have that information.
