lol Alright its been 40 years or so since I've cracked open the Mormon scriptures....
Sounds like a vague paraphrase of something saint Paul said, but reading it in context seems to a about what would be called "Mortal Sin" in western theology.

OK the real question can the Baptism of the Dead solve this problem? :) (The author in the chapter seems to suggest you will be resurrected according to the spiritual state in which you die).

Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled

Proverbs 30:5-6 ESV
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Isaiah 40:8 ESV
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Matthew 24:35 ESV
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Psalm 12:6-7 ESV
The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. You, O Lord, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.

The manuscripts of the Bible have been preserved. Any variations are minor and does not change the message of the Bible.

There is no need my friend, to restore what has not been lost.

Jeremiah 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

Ezekiel 24:14I the Lord have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord God.

Amos 7:6The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.

Jonah 3:10And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Romans 11:29For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Check these in other translations to get to their true meaning. There really is not a contradiction.

God does NOT repent:

(Old Testament | Numbers 23:19)

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Yet there are verses that say He did repent and they were wrong.

Based on some of those texts the Bible will not loose anything important doctrine wise.
The most important doctrine of the Gospel is to LOVE (fear) God and keep His commandments. That doctrine has not changed nor will it:

(Old Testament | Ecclesiastes 12:13 - 14)

13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

As I said, read the texts in another translation in context:

Jonah 3:10 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
10 God saw what the people did. He saw that they stopped doing evil. So God changed his mind and did not do what he planned. He did not punish the people.

Amos 7:6 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
6 Then the Lord changed his mind about this. The Lord God said, “It will not happen either.”

Jeremiah 26:13 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
13 You people, change your lives! You must start doing good! You must obey the Lord your God. If you do that, he will change his mind. He will not do the bad things he told you about.

Gal 2
15 We are Jews by birth. We were not born “sinners,” as we call those who are not Jews. 16 But we know that no one is made right with God by following the law. It is trusting in Jesus Christ that makes a person right with God. So we have put our faith in Christ Jesus, because we wanted to be made right with God. And we are right with him because we trusted in Christ—not because we followed the law. I can say this because no one can be made right with God by following the law.

17 We Jews came to Christ to be made right with God, so it is clear that we were sinners too. Does this mean that Christ makes us sinners? Of course not. 18 But I would be wrong to begin teaching again those things that I gave up. 19 It was the law itself that caused me to end my life under the law. I died to the law so that I could live for God. I have been nailed to the cross with Christ. 20 So I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God. He is the one who loved me and gave himself to save me. 21 I am not the one destroying the meaning of God’s grace. If following the law is how people are made right with God, then Christ did not have to die.

Galatians 3 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
God’s Blessing Comes Through Faith
3 You people in Galatia are so foolish! Why do I say this? Because I told you very clearly about the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. But now it seems as though you have let someone use their magical powers to make you forget. 2 Tell me this one thing: How did you receive the Spirit? Did you receive the Spirit by following the law? No, you received the Spirit because you heard the message about Jesus and believed it. 3 You began your life in Christ with the Spirit. Now do you try to complete it by your own power? That is foolish.

Galatians 5 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
Keep Your Freedom
5 We have freedom now, because Christ made us free. So stand strong in that freedom. Don’t go back into slavery again. 2 Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you start following the law by being circumcised, then Christ cannot help you. 3 Again, I warn everyone: If you allow yourselves to be circumcised, then you must follow the whole law. 4 If you try to be made right with God through the law, your life with Christ is finished—you have left God’s grace.

18 But if you let the Spirit lead you, you are not under law

22 But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. 25 We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit. 26 We must not feel proud and boast about ourselves. We must not cause trouble for each other or be jealous of each other.

Romans 3
19 What the law says is for those who are under the law. It stops anyone from making excuses. And it brings the whole world under God’s judgment, 20 because no one can be made right with God by following the law. The law only shows us our sin.

27 So do we have any reason to boast about ourselves? No reason at all. And why not? Because we are depending on the way of faith, not on what we have done in following the law. 28 I mean we are made right with God through faith, not through what we have done to follow the law. This is what we believe. 29 God is not only the God of the Jews. He is also the God of those who are not Jews. 30 There is only one God. He will make Jews right with him by their faith, and he will also make non-Jews right with him through their faith. 31 So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith? Not at all! In fact, faith causes us to be what the law actually wants.

Romans 4
13 Abraham and his descendants received the promise that they would get the whole world. But Abraham did not receive that promise because he followed the law. He received that promise because he was right with God through his faith. 14 If people could get God’s promise by following the law, then faith is worthless. And God’s promise to Abraham is worthless, 15 because the law can only bring God’s anger on those who disobey it. But if there is no law, then there is nothing to disobey.

16 So people get what God promised by having faith. This happens so that the promise can be a free gift. And if the promise is a free gift, then all of Abraham’s people will get that promise. The promise is not just for those who live under the Law of Moses. It is for all who live with faith as Abraham did.

Romans 6
14 Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.

Slaves of Goodness
15 So what should we do? Should we sin because we are under grace and not under law? Certainly not!

We should live by the spirit:

(New Testament | 2 Corinthians 3:6)

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

The spirit of the law is LOVE. All of the commandments are based on LOVE. God is LOVE. We are to LOVE one another. Those who LOVE Jesus will keep the commandments of LOVE. Those who do not keep the commandments will not know God because God is LOVE. This is eternal life to know God and Jesus Christ. Where should our hearts be?:

(Old Testament | Isaiah 29:13)

13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
