• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am confused. You are all saying nice things to me.

If we were sitting face-to-face, you wouldn't be so nice. I know that I am difficult to look at for people.

God doesn't make mistakes, so why would He make me so badly?
Are you saying that you're not good-looking? Or that you think being physically near you reveals something about you that makes people uncomfortable?

It's wickedness. People see evil inside of me. That is why they treat me so badly.

Not really. It's sin and shame.
Okay.

Then,

1) I think you need a new therapist.

2) In my church we say that everyone has done shameful things, but that God calls us to him anyway.

I posted this a long time ago, one of my favourite texts from Fr Henri Nouwen. It has really helped me in my walk with God and I pray that it will help you too.

I am your God, I have moulded you with my own hands, and I love what I have made. I love you with a love that has no limits, because I love you as I am loved. Do not run away from me. Come back to me - not once, not twice, but always again. You are my child. How can you ever doubt that I will embrace you again, hold you against my breast, kiss you and let my hands run through your hair? I am your God - the God of mercy and compassion, the God of pardon and love, the God of tenderness and care. Please do not say that I have given up on you, that I cannot stand you anymore, that there is no way back. It is not true. I so much want you to be with me. I so much want you to be close to me. I know all your thoughts. I hear all your words. I see all of your actions. And I love you because you are beautiful, made in my own image, an expression of my most intimate love. Do not judge yourself. Do not condemn yourself. Do not reject yourself. Let my love touch the deepest, most hidden corners of your heart and reveal to you your own beauty, a beauty that you have lost sight of, but which will become visible to you again in the light of my mercy. Come, come, let me wipe your tear, and let my mouth come close to your ear and say to you, 'I love you'

Do you have faith in Christ? Have you been born again and have the Holy Spirit living in you?

If not there is no way for you to save yourself. Repent and believe! For there is only one salvation and that is of Christ. Believe In Jesus and his finished work on the cross!

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10

Is your sorrow from the world or from God?

Are you physically disfigured, obese or overly skinny, or physically handicapped in any way? Is that why you feel people can’t look at you?

But I am a child of wickedness. I don't believe Jesus died for me because God rejects my prayers

A lot of people think God doesn't answer their prayers. What do we ask of Him? If we pray the Lord's prayer, we say. "Thy will be done." Do we want His will to be done or our own?

Christian what-if-you-woke-up-today-with-only-the-things.png

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." (1 John 5:14)

"And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4)

There are so many things we can thank God for!

These are some things I'm thankful for:

Jesus' payment for my sins

The word of God Bible read-bible.gif

Surviving my unhappy childhood

Understanding what it's like to not have friends at school

Understanding what it's like to not have stylish clothes as a teen-ager

Not having the sort of fun other kids were having

My love for children: my own, my grandchildren, the neighbors' children

Christian Forum friends!

Food to eat

My house

Warm clothes in winter

Air-conditioning in summer

My eyesight

Beauty in nature

My favorite animals (I don't have pets anymore, but I like songbirds and butterflies)

and a whole lot more

Keeping you in my prayers.

Well at least you're wise enough to know you should have it. There's a lot of people on the earth that refuse to accept they should. But hold on now....are you willing to take it to the next step? Do you really want to honor God, and bring some joy to his heart YES or NO? If you do you're going to take the next step by your coming BOLDLY, yes I said BOLDLY to the throne of grace to receive his grace and mercy to help in time of need. What do we see there? The precious blood of Jesus which remits, blots out our sins, making us justified....just as if we'd never sinned. So two things we can focus on....our sin and shame or 2) God's cure and answer to it.

You have said, "But I am a child of wickedness." Outside of Christ isn't that what we all are? Didn't he say that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God?

I don't believe Jesus died for me because God rejects my prayers

So tell me why in your file do you call yourself a Christian. A Christian chooses to believe what....."for with the heart many believes unto righteousness" that is because of hearing the good news about what Jesus did on the cross which a part is that his precious blood takes away our sin and shame. So is it that God is rejecting your prayers? Or are you rather rejecting him? Might I suggest stop doing that and take him AT HIS WORD.

Have you sought out spiritual guidance from a priest etc? In my church, we can see our priest who are normally extremely good and gifted at helping people.

You have it in your mind bad thoughts. You are not alone there as its surprising how many are affected by these intrusions.

There is no quick fix my friend. Its all about FULLY trusting in Jesus, no matter what your thoughts are telling you. Train your mind towards Jesus. However hard it gets for you.

One thing to remember....Jesus is indeed carrying YOU, as you carry your cross in life.

Offer up the negative thoughts etc to God.

Please, try and start turning the negatives into positives. One step at a time. Focus on Jesus.

I pray that God will wrap His healing arms around you. God bless and protect you.

I have tried talking to people (pastors and counselors) at churches and it only made things worse. It wasn't helpful, and I felt more discouraged.

My mind is ill. I have never felt this confused and tortured before, even after praying. I don't know what to do.

Lots of medication you say? Obviously you need to seek a doctor who is more helpful to your condition. No 2 doctors are the same, as i guess you already know.

God is not ignoring you. Please believe that.

You are going through a tough time. Dont give up on God.

I think you definitely need to get your medication looked at. Get proper medical advice / help. Dont give up until you find a good doctor.

But, keep close to Jesus.

I pray that God will guide you. Help you.

Be strong. You can win this battle my friend.

God bless you

God doesn't make mistakes, so why would He make me so badly?

God does not look at outward appearances and you are not a mistake.
1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Samuel thought the older handsome son would be the one but God said no.

If you feel the world is against you, it was aginst Christ first.

Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not

1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

No matter how the world treats you, you are beautiful in God's sight.
