I live in Florida, which has the one of the fastest growing number of infections at this point. Since a couple of months ago, people coming from New York and New Jersey are required to be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival to Florida. Now because of how fast infections are climbing in the state, it's the other way around.
It's less to do with reopening and more to do with pretending that we have finally defeated the pandemic, along with some stupid acts. Most people I see who wear masks in public, do not wear face masks properly fitted and sealed. Too me it's nonsensical and kind of disgusting seeing some people covering their mouth but not their nose.
When I go out in public, I wear a face shield and if possible or needed, a face mask properly fitted and sealed. THAT is what actually protects YOU from the virus.

Face Masks are for protecting OTHERS from the germs you breathe out. This is why the design of cloth masks made for the public in this pandemic are based off surgical masks, which the doctor wears to protect the patient from the doctor's mouth germs when doing surgery or something like that.
I just found out that the COVID-19 fatality rate in Europe, especially in most locked down Spain, Italy, and France are in the teens %age range. In the US it's about 5% and in Florida, the case fatality rate is about 3.5%.As of this post, In the UK, which is still mostly under lockdown, for every 1 million people, 640 have died from COVID-19. In the US, for every 1 million people, 385 have died from the disease.
