I was once a deacon in a Dispensational Bible Church.
A former preacher who had attended Dallas Theological took it upon himself to teach the doctrine in Sunday School. He recommended the book "Things to Come", by Dr. Dwight Pentecost. I purchased the book, and read it.
Sadly, many of the things in the book were not found written in my Bible.
After doing some research I learned that John Nelson Darby had brought the doctrine to the United States about the time of the Civil War. For some strange reason the pastors at my church did not want those sitting in the pews to know the history of their doctrine. I had to wonder why not, if it was the truth.
Many today are waking up to the truth about this man-made doctrine, which claims God did not fulfill His promises to the Jewish people, at Calvary.
My wife and I are now part of a New Covenant church body.
The New Covenant: Bob George
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, modern Dispensational Theology falls apart, and the pretrib removal of the Church falls with it.
.
Well then it is sad that your church did not teach the birth of modern dispensationalism, and its name prior to the 5th century!
Pentecost was excellent, but He used a little too much allegorical interpretation which is the hallmark of amill theology and covenant theology (which amillenialism is a branch of its eschatology.
I also teach my students the popularization of amillenial though t(that Jesus will not set up a 1,000 year kingdom) and covenant theology through Augustine and then inculcated by Rome. It was kept by calvin, LUther in parts and definitely the reformed churches.
Most New covenant churches tht I knoew fo teach the heresy of replacement theology--that God is through with Israel and the church now has all the blessings God promised to the nation. Or a variant of that truth.
