We need more guns and less regulation? Who does that actually benefit? "A well regulated militia" Not "wife beaters, children, and mass shooters" The system is broken
Some people got into more trouble with a gun than if they never had a gun at all. People attacked from behind. Having a gun is no guarantee of safety. More people killed themselves with their guns than shot armed home invaders. I watched too much scary news and bought a gun. A terrible waste of money. I will probably never fire it. One place where I lived someone fired a bullet into my carport siding. I moved rather than stay and try to shoot the perpetrator.
A lot of people live all alone and don't worry about owning a gun. There are home safety systems; some of them are deterrents.
I live in a town that isn't riddled with violence. But a young father here was fearful so he purchased a gun. He kept it loaded and put it in his coat pocket when he took his children out to play. The gun fell on the ground, went off and killed his young daughter!
Apparently your friends are not familiar with the phrase "when seconds count, police are minutes away". They've obviously never been in a dangerous situation before. When a bad person enters your house at night to come for your wife or kids, you think your baseball bat or calling 911 will be sufficient against an armed intruder?
What happened to "In God we trust?" Has it become "In Glock we trust"?
God's Word says? ... DON'T LISTEN TO THE COWARDS...
"Then the officers shall speak further to the people and say, ‘Who is the man that is afraid and fainthearted? Let him depart and return to his house, so that he might not make his brothers’ hearts melt like his heart.’ Deut 20:8
In Moses day some men that were drafted feared taking up a sword.
The Law stated, that if someone admitted he would be a coward in battle? That he is to be discharged, unless he run away in battle and cause others to follow him.
Those who tell you not to defend yourself?
Let them stay in their homes afraid to make themselves to not be afraid.
grace and peace........
This is a good reason for the OP to post a similar thread in the Firearms section.
We have many knowledgeable people there who can advise about selecting a gun (if desired), including one that is "drop-safe" (will not fire if dropped).
I think this is a very cultural question since you're posting from the US.
For example, it's not normal for people to go out and buy a gun in Canada, but I understand it's not only normal - it's easier to obtain one by virtue of availability in the US due to the right to bear arms and such.
Thus cultural.
In terms of "Christian" advice, Jesus said to Peter that those who live by the sword die by the sword.
So on that same note, relying on a gun will most likely result in you getting shot - especially when you live in a country where that is the norm - it's just statistics then.
So many have been getting guns.. hey.. they can by the law so praise GOD
This is helpful. Thank you
Safety systems didn’t prevent commercial stores from being entered and destroyed. I’m certain their systems were more involved than the average homeowner.
If someone desires to enter your home they will. An alarm isn’t a deterrent for that sort. Some reside in areas with smaller populations and lower crime rates. Others live in large metropolitans with greater challenges.

I live in a small town. I am planning on moving to Minnesota due to climate change in my town. I am a winter lover, and the winters have not been as cold as they used to, and we don't get much snow like we used (not the point, but I am coming to the point) So, I am moving to a place that has really cold winters. And the place that I am moving to has a high crime rate. And so, that is why I started to think about getting a gun.
As a survivor of a Mass shooting, I legally protect myself with a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm with a concealed carry licence under the protection and right given to me by the 2nd Amendment of the United States of America!
If you follow the New Testament as your guide for Christian living, then you won't buy a gun (See post #92). Not one place in the New Testament condones the use of lethal force. We are told to imitate Christ. Jesus never harmed anyone. He was actually killed by others.
Also, who says that you have to live in a bad area? Can you not live a little farther out where there is no high crime rate? Usually a half hour drive changes a lot.
My guess is that you are not looking to what the Bible says here, but you are looking for confirmation from others that it is okay to buy a gun. If I am wrong, then what do you make of the verses I posted here?
You are not wrong. I was looking for confirmation. But I still wanted to know the truth. I was shocked when there were different responses. I thought conservatives were okay with people owning guns. But I am glad you tell me whether I was looking for confirmation or not.
Those are a lot of verses. I will read through them and give you my response.
Between 2016 and 2017, the number of homicide victims across Australia decreased from 453 victims to 414 victims (down 39 victims or 9%). The murder victimisation rate was 0.8%. Between the 1989-1990 and 2013-2014 statistical years, the national homicide rate decreased from 1.8 per 100,000 people to 1 per 100,000.

If they are not using guns to kill, what are they using? What of those items can be banned?
Thanks,
Daniel
