All throughout the Bible, God wanted His people to repent and to return to obedience to His law, and even Christ began his ministry with that message, so it would make no sense to interpret these verses as Paul warning us against doing that and saying that we will be cut off from Christ if we follow Christ. Paul's problem with the Galatians was not that they were teaching Gentiles how to obey God's law as if obedience to God were somehow a negative thing, but rather his problem was with those who were wanting to require all Gentiles to obey their works of the law in order to become justified.

In Acts 15:1, they were wanting to require all Gentiles to become circumcised in order to become justified, however, that was never the purpose for which God commanded circumcision, so the problem was that circumcision was being used for a man-made purpose that went above and beyond the purpose for which God commanded it. So the Jerusalem Council upheld God's law by correctly ruling against that requirement and a ruling against requiring something that God never commanded should not be mistaken as being a ruling against obeying what God has commanded as if the Jerusalem Council had the authority to countermand God.

According to the context you’re applying to Galatians 5:1-2, Paul ruined Timothy’s salvation, and was a flat out hypocrite for circumcising him.

Galatians 5:1-2 is discussing circumcision within a specific, historical context.

It's not a general, sweeping prohibition against circumcision.

We are to obey the Law that has been written upon our hearts by the very Lord who indwells His people.

[Isa 51:6-7 KJV] 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. 7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart [is] my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

When men revile you for not pursuing the living of the Law that they have tasked upon themselves, allegedly as some sort of measure of your love for God, or of solidifying your place in eternity, remember the words inspired by the Lord through such prophets as Isaiah, quoted above. Do the Law that He has placed within and upon your heart. WHO is in your heart? For those who truly follow Christ Jesus, He is the Spirit of the Most High, and that Spirit will guide you in every way.

[1Jo 2:27 KJV] 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

When you are in Christ Jesus, He is within you, and will teach you all things, as is emphatically stated above. The legalists will harangue , clamor and clink their chains of enslavement, beckoning you to become enslaved with them in their chains. The choice is yours. Hear and obey the Lord, or hear and obey them.
