I had a question about the following passage.

Gregory Thompson

Change is inevitable, feel free to spare some.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

So who is convinced of this, I mean, who is writing the passage.

And are you convinced of this, why/why not.

Do you believe Paul being convinced is good enough?

God can still love those who are temporal or temporary.

They are all his creations after all...

And will live again, even if they are temporal or temporary...

God Bless!

Paul wrote Romans...so HE is the one that is convinced that nothing can separate us from God's love. God loves His creation and wishes that all men be saved.
1 Timothy 2:3-4
3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

So, yes, nothing will separate you from the love of God.
We are told, however, that we must hold tight to our faith. It's possible for US to walk away from God,,,although I don't know why anyone would want to.

Colossians 1:21-23
21And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds,
22yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—
23if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.

We can be secure in our salvation,,,but there are too many verses such as the above to make us just ignore them --- and most were written by the same Paul that wrote the verse you're asking about.

I'm convinced. God's word is trustworthy. Paul also had the Old Testament to draw on. You might like to read Psalm 139. It helped me through some dark times in my life.

All these things are outside of oneself. But what of the individual free will?
Hebrews 10:

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Hope that remains:
Luke 6:

37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

Isaiah 59:
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

One of Jesus' prayers to His father is John 17 and includes:
"I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." John 17:23.

I don't remember my translation saying our "fears" and "worries" can't separate us from God's love.

My translation says "There is no fear in love" (1 John 4:18), and "Be anxious for nothing", in Philippians 4:6-7.

So, I would say . . . fear and worry are not in God's love; so we have no business having them in us . . . whether they could separate us or not > if we have them in us, where are we???? We may not be totally separate from God, but if we are submitting to fear and worry and even trusting what they have us thinking . . . this is not submitting to God in His love!

So . . . can anything separate us from God? Paul says no.

Is this only for Paul? If Paul wrote this to us, God means for us to get what Paul has. Paul is our example; we follow good example. God's love will do this in us. There is no second-best love which does less, in our salvation in Jesus.

Do you believe Paul being convinced is good enough?
God proved Himself to Paul, and our Heavenly Father proves Himself in us.

Apparently some of the convincing that God can do is very powerful. At times I felt convinced but then again at times I experience new parts of Darkness that I did not think could happen to me.
