I have an extra perseption to the unseen world, best way of describing it is seeing an energy field on top of the physical world.
Last night As I was trying to sleep, heard faint tapping noise. Awoke and I seen a dark smoke like fog, was this a negative spirit ?
I prayed after I seen it and went back to sleep.
Any advice thanks

Most definitely this is an evil spirit. If this was something from God, you would hear Him or an angel speak to you and you would know it was of Him.

Has this kind of thing happened in the past (the tapping)?

Do you have a history of involvement with the occult, or did anyone in your family participate in the occult?

Ritual and symbols are of no use.
The only thing that will protect you is Jesus. You need to stay close to him by how you work out your faith in him?

I read salt is good so I placed 4 salt bowls in the corners of my room, and recited a prayer to expell unwanted spirits.

This is ritual magick, and has no place in Christian practice.

Fair enough, just to be clear I said a prayer and asked jesus to expell any unwanted spirits. I wear a cross around my neck and have a statue of Mary.
Your advice would be to just pray then?
Any particular prayers you would recommend?

A statue of Mary is the same as an idol. She is not a deity, nor is she God. Having a statue of her is of no more spiritual value than having a statue of your own mother. Wearing a cross may be a good reminder of the finished work Jesus accomplished at the crucifixion, but it has no spiritual power. ONLY through the blood of Jesus will you overcome! This is where our testimony is... that we are made righteous through His sacrifice.

Now, all that being said... I hope that you take time daily to build your relationship with God through prayer and reading of the Word of God. Get in the habit of having some good Christian music playing in your home and/or vehicle. There are some great artists who incorporate the Word into their music, like Sons of Korah and Shane and Shane. You can find them on YouTube. I linked some playlists for you if you click their names (above).

I'm aware that it is merely a statue if one does not believe, I do have faith.
I blessed my cousins house before splashing holy water in each room and reciting prayer. That day I felt the power of God, I am a believer. Thanks for the music recommendations, I'll check them out!

I agree, it seems like an evil spirit. You can sprinkle your house with holy water, remove everything including books that are inspired buy occult, magic and sorcery. Pray around your house, in every room and don't allow people who belong to occult groups visit you at home. God bless

That won't work. You need to get rid of anything your cousin has ever given you. Not just in your room but any other room in the house. Once you have something there that came from him the spirits have access to you.

If you can take the time to watch the story and testimony of a man who belonged to a society of spirit worshipers and how God delivered him and how he overcame being oppressed by the spirits, I can give you the link. What I told you is what I learned from his experience. Its about 3 hrs long though so you might have to do it in multiple viewings

If my post came across harsh, I apologize. I just wanted to be clear that ritual magick is worthless.

Also, don't think of the cross around your neck, nor a statue of the Blessed Virgin as magickal charms--they aren't.

Indeed, put your faith in what that cross stands for, put your faith in the One conceived by the Virgin. Let those things point you to Christ, which is why we have crosses, icons, and the like; to point us to Christ.

In the Lutheran tradition our most famous hymn is A Mighty Fortress which contains this stanza,

"And though this world with devils filled should threaten to undo us
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure
One little word shall fell him"

Note that last line, "one little word shall fell him".

The devil is a coward. One does not need some elaborate system to drive him away. In the Epistle of St. Jude we read that St. Michael the Archangel when contesting over the body of Moses with the devil merely said, "The Lord rebuke you". Again appealing to my own Lutheran tradition, Martin Luther wrote, humorously, that he would chase the devil away with a fart. He actually explains what he meant when he penned those words of A Mighty Fortress as well, that the "one little word" is this: "Devil, you lie." The devil is a liar, call him a liar, that's what he is.

Everything he says and does is a lie.

He wants you to be afraid of him, don't be, he's the one that should be afraid, "for lo, his doom is sure".

Remember your Baptism, and the Baptism promises of God. You can reaffirm these things, "I renounce you Satan and all your works." St. James says, "Resist the devil and he must flee."

Don't concern yourself with spirits, do not worry about spirits. The holy angels go about their business as God commands, and they do as He wills. The devils may try and tempt us, or goad us into false guilt, or speak any number of falsehoods--but they are all worthless kindling, you have the promises of God which He made to you through the Gospel, put your mind and gaze upon Christ, the One who saves you.

God has made you more than a conqueror in Christ who loves you, greater is God who is in you by the Holy Spirit than the one that is in the world. Trust in Jesus, Jesus has your back. Now go and love your neighbor.
