When is a person ready for Baptism and Confirmation

Truthfully, it depends a lot on which denomination you turn to.

I say that because they have different views as to what Baptism means, does (if anything), and requires.

We could, in other words, give you a good answer--from the perspective of certain churches--while you instead are convinced of the views of other Christian denominations.

If you believe and have done these things then you are ready to be Baptized.

1. In order to be saved you must first believe in Yahshua the Christ
(Mark 16:16; John 3:3,15-18,35-36; John 5:24; John 6:26-40,47; John 14:1,12; Acts 10:43; Acts 16:31-33; Romans 10:4,8-11; Hebrews 11:6; 1 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 5:1,4-13)

2. We must believe that Christ was God manifest in the Flesh

Okay...and thank you. The CofE, like all the historic churches, believes that Baptism is a sacrament that forgives sin or reassures us of God's forgiveness in response to our confession of faith, confers grace, and makes the recipient a member of Christ's Church. Based on everything you've written, it looks to me that you probably are ready for Baptism and should not hesitate to speak to a priest about it.

Any serious Christian would have some questions, given that it's a big step, and the Church will similarly want to advise you and perhaps also give you some formal instruction before the day of Baptism. But there really is no reason not to at least talk with the rector or vicar about it.

By baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and testify of our death to sin and of our purpose to walk in newness of life. Thus we acknowledge Christ as Lord and Saviour, become His people. Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ, the forgiveness of our sins, and our reception of the Holy Spirit. It is by immersion in water (symbolizing our death & resurrection with Christ) and is contingent on an affirmation of faith in Jesus and evidence of repentance of sin. It follows instruction in the Holy Scriptures and acceptance of their teachings.

Rom. 6:1-6; Col. 2:12, 13; Acts 16:30-33; 22:16; 2:38; Matt. 28:19, 20.

All of us experience times when our faith is shaken ... don't let that hinder you from being baptized ... if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior then follow Him .... in His steps. You're going to mess up here and there ... but one will experience change over the course of their lifetime.

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Put your faith in Christ and worry NONE about water baptism.
You are too concerned with something that you have been taught has a supreme value that it does not possess.

There is a reason that the Writer of 73% of the New Testament, who Himself was given church doctrine directly from Christ, said......"Christ sent me NOT to water baptize".

See, the error of many Christians is to put over-confidence and extreme value into things that of themselves have no power to do anything for you, spiritually or literally, but are only of symbolic value.

Let me show you.

Take Jesus off the Cross.
Put Him back into heaven, as if He has not come yet.
No Cross yet., No resurrection yet..

Now, go and have yourself water baptized and confirmed 234 times.
Then die.
What happens?
You will go to hell.
Why?
Because you have to be born again to Go to Heaven, and that requires a CROSS, a BLood Atonement, and FAITH.

What does water do?
Its gets you wet, and it allows you to confess publicly that you already belong to Christ.
Its similar to wearing an army uniform, as this >shows< that you are in the Army.
But you can wear a army uniform and not be in the Army.
You can be water baptized, and not be born again.
