A football player who put out a statement that he doesn't respect people who take a knee rather than stand for the national anthem, and they disrespect the flag of our country. As a result, a bunch of people who were offended by his views bullied him into making an apology for his statements.

He's a victim, then. Got it.

Well, maybe you can apply for the job of prosecuting attorney so you can make that case in court. Tell them that there are no other facts that matter other than what we saw on that video. Tell them that it doesn't matter if Loyd violently resisted or whatever else he might have done that caused the cops to end up having to restrain him.

And once again (before you and others who can't keep using tunnel vision in your reasoning), I never said that killing the guy was justified.
The FACT of the matter is, everyone is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, but if you are murdered on the crime scene, you don't get the chance to a fair trial.

Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily Mail reported.

“What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter.

The 20-page report also indicates that Floyd had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system at the time of his death, although the drugs are not listed as the cause. Medical Examiner's Autopsy Reveals George Floyd Had Positive Test For Coronavirus

It would seem that the man who the Press refers to as a "gentle giant" and a virtual pillar of the community, it's also time for those who are only willing to focus on the cop's history of people filing complaints about him, it's only fair and equal to show the rest of the story.

I don't recall anybody presenting him as a "pillar of the community".

Police should protect all human life, not just the boyscouts out there. Human beings are more than the worst things they ever do.

Once he was handcuffed, the neck restraint was no longer needed. Once he became unresponsive, the neck restraint was no longer needed. Once he started turning blue from asphyxiation, the neck restraint was no longer needed.

Looks like there is a longer video. Taken from officer's body cam, bystanders dash cam, and security cameras.

Be warned, it's difficult to watch.

He may have been having a heart attack. I notice at one point in that video, before he goes behind the car, he's stumbling and looks weak.

A prominent Youtube pulmonologist discusses the cause of George Floyd's death: asphyxia.

Floyd may have used fentanyl and been under the influence of alcohol, but those cannot be said to be the causes of his death.

Can't do that now it ruins the narrative and there is no justification for trying to ruin America that they are doing.

Now you can state facts, you know that the they don't fit the agenda to destroy America and Americans

You’re acting as an apologist for an abusive agency of the government. If anybody is acting in a way that’s unAmerican, it’s you and others trying to obfuscate this issue by bringing up Floyd’s decade-old rap sheet that has nothing to do with his arrest or mistreatment.

Exactly, they absolutely hate the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They want to silence all and I will say right here I absolutely hate those like that

Are you poe’ing or do you really not have any grasp of what the constitution is about? Where does the bill of rights grant us an abusive, authoritarian police state?

My only insistence is to bring out the facts, whether they be positive or negative. You can expect the same in a court of law.
And yet for some reason you failed to mention facts such as these from your sources - "Floyd's death has been ruled a homicide."

Seems a bit selective.

Then you clearly don't understand that a person's job and reputation can be threatened no matter what size or age a person is.
Interesting. From all the gay wedding cake threads I thought that business owners forcing their views on others was freedom, not bullying.

But yeah, falling for alt-right memes is a good way to have one's reputation sullied. Something of a self-inflicted wound, though, so hard to blame anyone else for that one.

His criminal history is in no way justification for what happened but I agree that the news services only report what supports their narrative and their narrative is almost always anti cop. It would be very welcome if the press just reported the facts and allowed us to use our own mind to decide what is right and wrong.

Did officer Chauvin know these facts at the time?

I have no idea if he ran a criminal history report before the use of force incident

It seems improbable, since in order to run a criminal history, the suspect must first be identified... which usually can't be done until after the suspect is in custody... which is when the use of force incident occurred.

These are the kind of questions we need to answer... in order to determine whether Chauvin's actions were right or wrong, we need to know what he knew at the time. He doesn't get the benefit of hindsight, so dredging up Floyd's criminal history doesn't help unless Chauvin knew it...and even then, history in and of itself doesn't justify deadly force.

But history shouldn't have any bearing on the moment. And history does not give police Judge Dred powers to execute a suspect on the spot.

History might have a bearing IF Floyd was a dangerous violent criminal and IF Chauvin knew this ahead of time, then it might explain Chauvin using more force than normally necessary, and not believing that Floyd's protests were genuine.

As you can see, however, those area couple of big "if"s.

Officer Chauvin could have saved a boy with leukemia trapped in a well that morning of the incident with Floyd. It still would have no bearing on the incident in question where he killed an innocent man that was in his custody. Facts like this or the ones about Floyd brought up in the OP are meaningless to the case everyone is talking about and I don’t see any other reason to bring them up other than to try and smear a dead man that can no longer defend his name.

Shameful.
