Where there are laws there are consequences. Every law has a reward whether good for obedience of bad for disobedience. There are reasons for the laws. God gave us the laws for a reason. He expects us to behave ourselves and rewards us when we do. He also penalizes us when we don't. Some people do not like God's laws of LOVE because they only care about themselves.

You have ignored the truth for years. twin.spin gave you an explanation from the Bible that you don't like. No, God gave the lambs eternal life and the lambs have not earned it. Why would we look for a reward when we didn't deserve God's mercy to begin with?

God revealed why he gave us the laws:
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."
This alone reveals that God's laws aren't some "rungs on a ladder" as Joseph Smith explained.

The rungs on a ladder concept is this: As a man or woman learns to obey God's word, God is willing to give them more of his word, and more and more until they receive a fullness of his word.

A good example of this is found in:
1 Corinthians 3:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 I have you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

The Corinthians had a problem with living the 'milk' of the gospel, and Paul could not teach them the 'meat', or higher information, or higher rungs on the ladder because they would not hear it, beause of their inability to live the 'milk'.

Another good example is a person that is just converted to the Church of Jesus Christ. This person is used to giving a few dollars in the dish each week, but the higher law necessary to administer the church is the law of 'tithing', which is 10% of their yearly increase. So this is quite different than a few dollars a month, this is now a real and higher committment that is tough for some to get their arms around. Some do and their lives change for the better and blessing flow more readily from God, I can testify of those tithing blessings. Some, however, cannot even hear of this higher committment and fall away and go back to their lower law of giving a few dollars on the dish on Sunday. Never being able to see the heavens being open and blessing from God that they can not contain it all.
Malachi 3:8-10 King James Version (KJV)
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Here is JS's rungs of a ladder by a prophet I am sure you will listen to:
Isaiah 28:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

See how it works?

Okay, you are free to disagree and claim that statement is wrong. However, your supposed rebuttal is wrong and furthermore you did not make your opinion clear. Why do you disagree with your church's teaching?

You know I do not disagree with this as it is supported by the Bible. Every law given to us by God has rewards or punishments assigned. Many of those rewards and punishments are given to us in the Bible.

This is correct.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:8

Joseph Smith was a liar who despised all Christian churches.

Mormons teach that the illustration I provided above
No Undeserved Blessings agrees with God's word. It does NOT. And Mormonism contradicts the Bible many times over.

These are the ones that deserve mercy:

(Old Testament | Exodus 20:6)

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

(Old Testament | Daniel 9:3 - 4)

3 ¶ And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

(New Testament | John 15:10 - 14)

10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

You said: "The following is not supported by the Bible:"

Of course it is Warnings of receiving the law and NOT keeping it:

(New Testament | Acts 7:51 - 53)

51 ¶ Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

We are to obey the law:

(New Testament | Romans 2:12 - 13)

12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

The law governs, protects, and sanctifies:

There are many promises given to those who keep the commandments. We can have the Holy Ghost to protect us:

(New Testament | John 14:15 - 17)

15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

We are santified by God's word the commandments):

(New Testament | 1 Timothy 4:5)

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Developing attributes of God:

(New Testament | 1 John 2:5 - 6)

5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Come to know God:

(New Testament | 1 John 2:4 - 5)

4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Eternal life:
(New Testament | John 17:3)

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Mormons, according to the Doctrine and Covenants are not given any blessings that you haven't earned! That emphatically says you only get what you deseve!

Reference, please. You claiming this to be our belief is not evidence, nor an argument.

Mercy is not deserved. To whom do we show mercy?

His mercies are new every morning when He withholds the punishment everyone deserves! Without God's mercy sinners would not be brought to Christ.

Why would I not believe what the Bible states?

Why indeed! Book of Mormon:

1 Nephi 13

Nephi sees in vision the church of the devil set up among the Gentiles, the discovery and colonizing of America, the loss of many plain and precious parts of the Bible, the resultant state of gentile apostasy, the restoration of the gospel, the coming forth of latter-day scripture, and the building up of Zion. About 600–592 B.C.

"29 And after these plain and precious things were taken away it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them."

I do.

I haven't disagreed with Exodus 20:6. I diagree that it says:

The rungs on a ladder concept is this: As a man or woman learns to obey God's word, God is willing to give them more of his word, and more and more until they receive a fullness of his word.

Not true! He has given us His word and His Spirit. God didn't give His Spirit to Joseph Smith, a false prophet who taught lies.

Another good example is a person that is just converted to the Church of Jesus Christ.*
This person is used to giving a few dollars in the dish each week, but the higher law necessary to administer the church is the law of 'tithing', which is 10% of their yearly increase.

* This is NOT the name of your "church."
Non-Christians rarely tithe or give money to a church. Mormons may or may not tithe, may or may not obey your countless non-biblical rules; what they did before being caught up in Mormonism may or may not inflluence them to tithe. I belonged to no church prior to becoming Mormon. I began tithing as a Mormon.

Tithing or not tithing has nothing to do with milk or meat!

Doctrine and Covenants 64
23 Behold, now it is called today until the coming of the Son of Man, and verily it is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people;
for he that is tithed shall not be burned at his coming.

See how it works?

Joseph Smith in his King Follett Serman (Aptil 1971 Ensign Magazine):
"When you climb up a ladder, you must begin at the bottom, and ascend step by step, until you arrive at the top; and so it is with the principles of the gospel—you must begin with the first, and go on until you learn all the principles of exaltation. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil before you will have learned them. It is not all to be comprehended in this world; it will be a great work to learn our salvation and exaltation even beyond the grave."

Your interpretation of a random Old Testament scripture is not indicative of how God always works.

Mormons are generally arrogant, temple Mormons in particular (the root cause is the idea that by being righteous they are entitled to esoteric teachings and ordinances).

I haven't disagreed with Exodus 20:6. I diagree that it says:

6 And shewing mercy only unto them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Galatians 3

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

You said:

Okay where does the Bible state that God shows mercy on those who do not LOVE Him and do not keep His commandments?

This is what He said:

(New Testament | John 14:23 - 24)

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

The Bible also states:

(New Testament | Romans 6:14 - 16)

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

You said: "But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)"

We all have the agency to sin or not to sin. Those who believe in Christ overcome the world by keeping the commandments:

(New Testament | 1 John 5:1 - 5)

1 WHOSOEVER believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Those who believe in Christ overcome the world by keeping the commandments. There are those who will return to sin:

(New Testament | 2 Peter 2:18 - 22)

18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Does an evil man decide he wants to please God? Or does God change that man's nature?
(Old Testament | Joshua 24:21 - 24)

21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.
22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
24 And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

(New Testament | Matthew 6:19 - 24)

19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

(New Testament | Matthew 7:24 - 27)

24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

You did not answer the question. Does an evil man decide he wants to please God?

There is No One Righteous

Romans 3
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. throat
is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

James 2
10
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Romans 8
1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

How do you explain Romans 3:10-20?
