All three officers were in stable condition and expected to recover, and a suspect was in critical condition, officials say

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday condemned the attack on three New York Police Department officers in Brooklyn and defended the police response to large-scale demonstrations over the killing of George Floyd.

Two officers were shot, and one was stabbed in the neck on a Brooklyn street Wednesday night while guarding against looting that has followed peaceful protests over the past few days.

A male suspect who stabbed one of the officers was also shot, according to police officials. All three officers were in stable condition and expected to recover, the officials said. The suspect was in critical condition, according to officials.

Mr. de Blasio said at a press conference that the three officers illustrated the best qualities of the NYPD.

An attack on any one of our officers is an attack on all of us,” the mayor said.

I cross the pond every year and spend a few weeks in Brooklyn to chill out - would you believe that I regard it as a safer place than London? The Borough of good vibes I call it - reduced to this.

Never mind that, a GREAT country. Honestly, what is going on? It's just so sad.

We are painting ourselves into a corner called: Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t. That’s what happens when people only try to please to be accepted or just simply ride on the back of tragedy. Until people get serious, and (really) stand up for justice for all, regardless of the narrative, this will continue. It’s not a matter of painting groups as the good guys and the bad guys. Much more complicated than that. But that’s what’s happening. It will just make things worse.

I read an OP on a thread that made one think that some poor, 75 yr old (diminished/aged/weak) man was assaulted by two mean police. MAN!!!!! Was that a deception. It IS sad that the accident happened in the police trying to control this very large and aggressive person BUT:

FACTS:

1) A riot control line is not formed and advanced UNTIL the "peaceful" demonstrators are demonstrating an escalation into high risk or actual activity of harm to people &/or property and is NOT a desired implementation by ANY police force,
2) Demonstrators KNOW this. When they push the limits, esp in a national environment of such demonstrations for the same thing for which many have been escalated far beyond PEACEFUL, demonstrators KNOW that the police are going to be apprehensive and on a higher guard. It is COMMON SENSE.
3) AFTER the riot control line had been very loudly and visibly formed (the strategy is to make a very noticeable and intimidating presence in hopes that the really peaceful demonstrators will realize that there those among their ranks who are getting out of control and consequentially disperse and leave the violent or unruly ones escalating the situation for the police to try to get under control.) I know this as I have trained for riot control in the Nat. Guard Military Police. The loud and visible strong presence of a riot control line advancing is intended to cause peaceable demonstrators to realize that there are those among their ranks who are no longer being peaceable and forcing the police to try to control them and naturally to disperse.
4) this "poor old 75 yr old man" had a face shield on probably hiding his age, he loomed 1/2 to a foot over most of the officers in line (look at his shoes! they are at least a size 15), right after AFTER the line quite visibly and loudly started advancing, this large man stormed directly toward it and confronted the riot control line. He charged an organized line of police he knew was advancing to try to control many, NOT JUST HIM, unruly demonstrators. The line, in order to do its job, cannot be broken nor stop to be effective. Demonstrators know this.

This is awful. NY Mayor doesn't care at all nor do most people because they were police
De Blasio gave a public statement condemning the attack, and has been supporting the police response to the protests the entire time. Which of those indicate to you that he doesn't care at all?
