All three officers were in stable condition and expected to recover, and a suspect was in critical condition, officials say
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday condemned the attack on three New York Police Department officers in Brooklyn and defended the police response to large-scale demonstrations over the killing of George Floyd.
Two officers were shot, and one was stabbed in the neck on a Brooklyn street Wednesday night while guarding against looting that has followed peaceful protests over the past few days.
A male suspect who stabbed one of the officers was also shot, according to police officials. All three officers were in stable condition and expected to recover, the officials said. The suspect was in critical condition, according to officials.
Mr. de Blasio said at a press conference that the three officers illustrated the best qualities of the NYPD.
An attack on any one of our officers is an attack on all of us,” the mayor said.
