Well may be you are not seeing it the way I do, and that is ok. But, imho, 18 complaints against an officer denotes as problem that the police department should either discipline rigorously or dismiss the officer. The thing is that complaints can be meaningless for instance 'He was disrespectful and rude.' 'He took too long to check out my information.'
I could have complained about an officer who stopped me because he didn't know the law in this state. As a state patrol officer, he should have known the law.
Should a police officer be fired for any of these reasons? I don't think so.
I'm making this point because we need to be careful not to judge an officer when the media gives us only the number of complaints made against them without any description of the complaints.
There's no proof he was having breathing problem over COVID-19. He have having a typical day. Maybe you can do an experiment in your head . Have a police handcuff you, lay you on the street. On your stomach . With the handcuff behind your back. So you say cant move your hands . Have him put his knee and his body weight on your neck. And picture this going on for 8 plus minutes. While other cops could have saved you. And the crowed is pleading for the Cops to get off his neck. And think how long you can make it. Before dying.Floyd was infected with the coronavirus, which may have compromised his breathing.

Jesse, I understand you’re afraid and I’m sorry recent events have brought you to this point. But I recollect you mentioned you’ve had no involvement with the police. Nor have I.
I can point to many lessons in my childhood. Solid examples I shared earlier. They’ve kept me safe beyond forty years and allowed me to prosper in a society many feel is stacked against them
I’m certain you have benefitted from the same. It was evident in your note to BLM. The eloquence and grace you demonstrated could not be feigned. It was heartfelt and homegrown.
Pray Psalm 91 and rest in the sanctity of the Lord’s bosom and the dignity of the person you’ve become. God bless and keep you.

I understand your fear, and I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. But hopefully there will be changes in the way people are restrained in the future.
Yes, at the same time ( not that all black families do this by any means, but it seems like some of them always use the race card when a particular event ( not this one) has nothing to do with race. I will say that as a white female I do find black males incarceration rates/ sentences to be unfair, but at least for me again as a white female the movement ( even when it is true in a particular case loses some credibility when one they seem to always pull it ( some of them) and two when people ( no matter their race loot and riot. If a particular officer is shown to be racially profiling he or she should be fired ( before something like this happens.
The Lord is with you brother. Life is full of dangers but even if bad things happen to us, He is always there. Rest in His peace, pray when you feel vulnerable, keep your eyes on what is eternal.
" Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that the death of the man, Manuel Ellis, 33, was a homicide. Investigators with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department were in the process of preparing a report about the March death, which occurred shortly after an arrest by officers from the Tacoma Police Department, said the sheriff’s spokesman, Ed Troyer.
Another Man Who Said ‘I Can’t Breathe’ Died in Custody. An Autopsy Calls It Homicide.
This homicide took place all the way back in March and it's just now being reported nationally so how many other excessive force cases don't we hear about?
If I were black I'd be afraid of the cops, too.
Our brother has said that he is afraid. That is what the OP is really about. Can we understand his fear?
Floyd was infected with the coronavirus, which may have compromised his breathing.
You're just trying to minimize this murder. If this happened to anyone, they would die. I t had nothing to do with COVID-19. It had everything to do with a cop, putting his knee and his body, squeezing as hard as possible, on George Floyds neck and killing him. There's no defense for this.Breathing problems are a primary symptom of COVID-19.
Just don't be combative with the police and you'll be fine.
Not when you're black.Just don't be combative with the police and you'll be fine.
If someone has blood pressure, the coronavirus, polio or any other disease, and Person A presses against his/her neck and suffocates him/her, person A is still responsible for that death.
Exactly. @Introverted1293 I am sorry your are scared but as Christians Christ has not given us a spirit of fear (I know easier said than done ) and like @OldWiseGuy said in most cases the suspect whatever he/she is has no respect and become combative and not just with police but with each other. Detroit black on black violence is much worse than these thing that happened lately and all of it is sad and tragic
Not when you're black.

You do realize that this is not going to happen to me. I realized that the police were dangerous many years ago. I haven't had any problems with them since because I changed my attitude and behavior. Others could take a lesson.
