The PROBLEM with that, of course, is that tacking "in Jesus name" just before the "AMEN" isn't what's being promised. Jesus' NAME - indicates Jesus' AUTHORITY.
Remembering the Centurion that came to Jesus about his servant.
Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this
man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth
it.
10 When Jesus heard
it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you,
I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
The Centurion UNDERSTOOD who/what Jesus was, and how things worked with Him.
In like manner, When I worked for L.Schuler GMBH as Chief electrical engineer, I WAS UNDER THE AUTHORITY of Schuler, and as a result I HAD Authority. I KNEW IT, and I also know what the EXTENT of my authority was - so I could walk into a electrical parts dealer, and say "I want to try that out", and they'd give it to me - because THEY knew what authority I had, and more importantly the wealth behind it.
The centurion UNDERSTOOD what the Jews (and the apostles/DIsciples) didn't i.e. that in order to HAVE God's authority, you must FIRST BE UNDER God's authority, which is quite different than just being "Born Again", and still largely doing things YOUR way. When Peter encountered the cripple at the temple gate, HE ALREADY KNEW that he had the authority to say "Rise up and walk" - KNOWING that it would happen.
The 500 pound gorilla in the Church today, that we pretend not to notice, is that when we pray for folks who are sick, we don't really EXPECT anything "overt" to happen, and are pleasantly surprised when it actually DOES happen. We don't really KNOW what authority we have - because we really don't have any - we've not come under HIS authority in our lives. 2 chr 7:14 seems to be the answer - "
IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
