Hi all,

I'm going to be as honest as possible. I joined this forum as I came across Hillsong United on Youtube. I love their songs, I'm not sure why but it always keeps me calm/relax and sort of motivational. However, I'm not sure about Christianity. I hope I don't offend anyone here, I just want to ask some questions so i can learn more. Maybe these are common questions, I've searched online but doesn't seem to find the answer I want.

There are so many gods in this world. I used to go to church a few years back, believed in Jesus and then, somehow, this faith sort of depleted. Although, when i was worshipping (I guess?) during service, i felt a sense of peacefulness. On the other hand, I met my wife, who is a Buddhist. I went to the temple, and I felt calm and relaxed there too. I met a monk through this journey, he could actually somehow, fortune tell in a sense. (For instance, he knew how my mother look like as he described some distinctive features and also the number of siblings I had. I had a friend with me and the monk knew that my friend's wife has skin disease too). We have never met this monk and it was an impromptu decision to meet him. There is no way he could have known these information. He got me shocked, scared and somehow inclined to believe in Buddhism. And then i started thinking, each religion has so many believable information. Hence, the big question is - Why is Christianity the one?

I really want to believe, feel calm, feel cleansed etc., in a sense, to clean my soul to find inner peace with everything happening around me. Yes, if i read about religion, join service, listen to worship songs etc. i will feel calm. But how do i know it's not just the words that are getting to me just like how motivational music or meditation sounds makes me calm and it's actually Jesus or the holy spirit doing their work? Additionally, there are verses in the bible such as "Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged." to guide us to how we act around others/loved ones. What if Jesus is just a very good philosopher or thinker that wrote a guide (the bible) to influence us. How do I know God actually exists and not someone Jesus created to bind us to his philosophy?

Again, I hope i didn't offend anyone with the words, if i did, it's unintentionally and I am sorry but I just want to learn more and hopefully stick around for a long time. Thank you!

Lyrics and a spiritual connection of a song can make you calm/relaxed either from God or at times false gods. I was saved as a child, backslid in my teens and it was Christian music that calmed my roaring thoughts in my mind even though I wasn't a Christian then slowly it brought me back to God. Jesus (God) is the Prince of Peace so it is common for people in worship to him to feel peace.

There is one "true" God and an abundance of "false" gods of which all of them are demonic if they draw you away from salvation in Jesus. There are those who have a spriitual connection to demons (false spirits) that can get information about you some very true some.. false and use this to deceive you in the end somehow.
The reason why Christianity is the one is a swimming pool of worms instead of a can as there is so so much about it that is mind boggling that one has to desire to want to believe in order to accept it all by faith.
I really want to believe, feel calm, feel cleansed etc., in a sense, to clean my soul to find inner peace with everything happening around me. Believing is by faith, you can go so far with knowledge you can glean from others and the Bible and music etc that brings you to that last step that you have to decide to take.
Overall music has just a calming affect on us and animals doesn't always have to be Christian either we were designed by God to have music affect us that way for the most part but IMO Christian music goes the extra step of making you feel beyond that of normal music.
Welcome to the forum, be careful and not believe what people say by default take the time to read the Bible and see if what they say is true or not.

Firstly, thank you very much for taking the time to post your thoughts that aid in my thinking. However, about the quote above, the very much can be said on Christianity that Christianity is a "false" god, that draws people away from Buddhism or Taoism or other religion?

One has to desire to want to believe in order to accept it all by faith.

Isn't this like blind faith? I can't find evidence so I jump right it, believe blindly and listen to every word blindly for the sake of cleaning my soul with philosophical words but when I die i realized that there's no heaven (or hell)?

Buddhism teaches a fourfold truth and is a philosophy to some extent, in the way it explains these truth statements.

Buddhism also teaches that we have been through many lifetimes, before this current life. Which is not a philosophical belief system.

If you remember your past lives then by all means become a Buddhist. Then spend the rest of your life chanting to reach the higher level (nirvana?).

Christianity teaches that you have just one life. That is the only lifetime that I can remember.

Christianity teaches the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of sin.

God's activity in Israel stretches back thousands of years, before Buddha was even born.

The prophecies of the coming messiah (Jesus) are centuries before Buddha was born.

Did Buddha raise anyone from the dead?

Did Buddha himself rise after he died and was he seen by his followers, and more than five hundred others?

On and on, it goes, there is a vast difference between a philosopher and the Lord of heaven and earth.

Yeah I do agree with you with most of your points, especially on Buddha and how he is not god (or lord of heaven and earth) but mostly, if not, completely a philosopher.

However, I would like to know more regarding your last few sentences.

Did his followers actually see Jesus rise from his death or was it just written (hearsay), is there any evidence? And with sins, if God actually created everything (including us), why did he make us with prone to sins, feel bad etc. when he can just send us directly to heaven. Why is he doing this to us like it's a game to him (just blatantly stating it as it is, sorry if i offend once again)? I've read that these are the devil doing, then why can't god just banish the devil before all these evil came in, does god not have foresight  (anyone can explain this too?)

Thank you for the replies from everyone once again. I am genuinely learning as I question these at the same time.

The Bible we believe says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Words of Christ.
So I will challenge with this: Read the first four books of the New Testament. (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) And at the conclusion of your reading ask yourself, "Is this Jesus the God that I want to give my heart and life to and serve." If the answer is yes, then ask Him to reveal Himself to you personally. And I guarantee by the authority of the Word of God that He will. Now after He does show Himself to you, however, it will be up to you to do with him according to His requirements. And that's simply to love Him with all your heart and your fellow man as yourself.

The majority of religions are about people who are doing this and that to reach god, while Christianity God (Jesus) did it all to reach.... us.

Blind faith is when you know nothing about what you are jumping into, the Bible gives you more than enough information to have faith in God if you truly desire such.
You can have all those false religions like Buddhism etc..... it is endless torture to exalt yourself to godhood by some mysterious force that recycles you through lives knowing how to punish/reward you for what you did wrong/right and not telling you that you murdered someone in the last life or saved 1000 people as you are a bug that hits someone's windshield and dies again.... no thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you for being vulnerable and expressing your doubts in such a clear way. I hope my answers can bring some help.

If you are coming to Christ to find peace and be comfortable, then you are in the wrong place, Christianity (believing in Jesus) leads you to the way, that reveals you the truth that gives you life, but to get there you must die to yourself, and death, well, its not pretty nor pleasing. Jesus said that whoever wants to follow Him, take their cross and follow Him. Salvation is free for you. God was the one who paid, but freedom takes work that brings life.

The cleansing of the heart, pruning and transformation is hard work. It is like childbirth; its pleasant, then its difficult during those 9 months, with good days and bad days, and then when the birth comes its painful, but then there's joy when you hold the baby in your arms. In christianity you are constantly giving birth, so christians often go through seasons, but those seasons bring life as the Holy Spirit helps you to grow in Jesus. The idea is to surrender to the Master, let Him lead the way.

As I tell people, you must believe to see. That's how faith works, in most cases anyway, but believe me, its better to believe without seeing because that way the relationship with the Father is not of a servant first, but of a son and then a servant. Once you believe and seek him with an honest heart, He starts to reveal himself to you and you start to hear him. Like He once said to me, "I understand that you don't understand". So, its ok to have doubts, He understands. Bring those doubts to Him in prayer, He answers back.

I was born in a Christian family, but eventually stopped believing in God. I became an atheist. I realized I never knew God, I knew religion. A person close to me told me I needed Jesus but the person couldn't explain why. Then one day I was driving and I was thinking about how theres so much evil in this world. I heard a voice say, "You believe in evil, yet you don't believe in good". My perspective changed and I started seeking the truth. I found out what really happened in the garden. Adam and Eve died spiritually, they lost the nature of God that was inside of them and acquired the nature of the devil, but God created a plan to give the opportunity to everyone who wanted to come back into the family to be restored to God's image by believing in Jesus. Before, people had to obey a law and follow cleansing rituals to be cleansed and saved, but now we believe in Jesus, there are no more rituals, our faith is in Him, and that faith cleans us and gives us more revelation.

Jesus is real and in your journey you will have many encounters with the Trinity. I realized He was talking, I was the one who wasn't listening. One of the ways is speaks is through dreams. Ask Him to teach you His language.

About the buddhist, don't forget there's good and there's evil. Christians operate in the Holy Spirit, everyone who doesn't believe in Jesus operates through demons. The devil counterfeits everything God created, and God is the One who created the gifts, people decide to use their gifts for God's glory or for the devil's. The Bible says demons even perform miracles and it also says many people will prophesy, cast out demons and perform miracles in Jesus name, but Jesus never knew them, so they weren't operating in the Holy Spirit. That's why it is very important to test the spirit in which people operates. The Bible says that if they can't say Jesus is Lord, then the Holy Spirit is not in them. That buddhist is a seer. A seer sees in the spirit, but the difference is that that buddhist is not using his gift in the Holy Spirit.

Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3.

Here I leave you a few videos that helped me.

Thank you for your explanation, it brings me closer to the answers I need. I have a quick question though, i think i asked this above as well. Why did God allowed evil to exist if he created everything? Why not create something that has no evil from the start (Like how humans can't have ill thoughts etc.), why he allowed trouble (evil) to come through or even exist? It can't be him lacking in foresight? I mean, he is god? Most glaring question is, why does he allow some babies be born without limbs etc.? If it is the evil doing, why he didn't stop evil or why did he create a thing called devil or allowed the devil to be formed?

If it is the evil doing, why he didn't stop evil or why did he create a thing called devil or allowed the devil to be formed?

God blessed them (Adam and Eve) and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. (Govern it) Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. Genesis 1:28

God gave earth to humans. He created earth for us and He wanted us to govern it. Adam and Eve had everything, but the devil tricked them into believing they weren't complete, so the devil stole the keys of the Kingdom of God (the authority), so then the devil became the god (little g) of this world and he has dominion over it until either one of two things happen: God returns or Christians realize who they are in Jesus and take possession of the world.

satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Ephesians 2:1-2

For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. Romans 8:20-21

Creation hopes we will realize who we are in Christ. Jesus said, as He is, so are we. He also said the same miracles He performed, we will be able to do if we believe in Him. We are just so stuck in religion that we don't step out of our comfort zone.

The devil led him (Jesus) up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours." Luke 4:5-7

But Jesus refused to worship the devil because He knew what He was going to do, He was going to hand the worlds dominion back to the Father. That's why Jesus (who is a Spirit-The Word) had to come in human form, because only a human could beat the devil because the earth was supposed to be governed by humans. Jesus died, went to hell and conquered death. Now every person can come to the Father through Jesus. The Bible says, Jesus is the head of the church (Christians), we are His body. So we are supposed to learn to hear Him and obey. The Bible also says the last enemy to be destroyed is death (1 Corinthians 15:26) so eventually, as we continue to grow in Christ, we will be able to revive the dead just as He did.

Why is God not stopping evil? Because we are supposed to dominate it, He already did it through Jesus, now we are supposed to be able to do it through Jesus, people are scared to step out in faith, but we are supposed to do the same things Jesus did. Many people are stuck in religion, waiting to be saved, waiting to become sons and daughters, waiting for God to subdue the earth, but God is saying, you are now a son through Jesus, go and do as Jesus did. We are supposed to destroy the works of the devil through Jesus. We are baptized in Jesus.

The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. John 3:8

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3

People are born with defects because someone hasn't taken dominion over that area; either before the birth or after. If you read the New Testament, Jesus healed everyone and He commanded the disciples to do the same thing. God is not the creator of evil. Eating Knowledge from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (an actual fruit) caused mankind to spiritually die. God didn't bring evil to the earth, we did (Adam and Eve), God created a solution.

Watch videos of Dan Mohler. He became a pillar in my spiritual walk. He inspired me to believe in Jesus and in what God says about us. His testimonies are amazing!

Thank you!
Welcome. Here is the forum you need amongst the many others.

Ps: The devil was actually an cherub, the most beautiful one. His name was Lucifer (which means angel of light). It was the most beautiful angel. From my understanding he was made out of mirrors to reflect God's image. He was the worship leader in Heaven, but he wanted glory and convinced other angels to rebel against God, which makes me think they had a will (the freedom to choose).

My theory is that we were going to eventually be able to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, but Adam and Eve ate before it was their time. Knowledge is not bad if used correctly and we are sons and daughters of God so we should have the capacity to have knowledge. The Bible says we have the mind of Christ, we were just not prepared to have knowledge yet. But this is just a theory.
