This is a pretty simple post, but I was shocked to see what I'm about to post here (and I think you will be too). Who is Apollyon? What are the locusts in the 5th Trumpet? What is the meaning of the 4 'angels' of the 6th Trumpet? I don't think anyone has shown you this before - and it's just so obvious once you see it!
The 'notable horn' of the goat in Daniel 8:5 is the little horn of Daniel 7. The little horn of Daniel 7 arrives at the 1st Trumpet and dies 5 months later at the 6th Trumpet. The little horn of Daniel 8 replaces the Daniel 7 little horn at the 6th Trumpet. (Both little horns of Dan 7 & 8 are Apollyon/ Abaddon) (just to clarify: these are 2 different people - the little horn of Daniel 7 & the little horn of Daniel 8).
The Day of the Lord's wrath arrives at the 6th Seal / 1st Trumpet. Revelation 6:12-17
The man of sin is revealed at the Day of the Lord. 2 Thessalonians 2:3
The 6th Trumpet involves the sanctuary. See Revelation 9:13-17 and compare with Psalm 68:17
Now we get to the fun part: Daniel 7's little horn
The Daniel 7 four beasts arise at the start of the 4 winds which begin right after the 6th Seal in Revelation 7:1.
Daniel 7
Just to recap here: the little horn of Daniel 7 begins at the 1st Trumpet. Then he dies 5 months later at the 6th Trumpet, when the 'court is seated and the ten thousands are serving the Lord in the Sanctuary'.
Now comes the other fun part: let's go to Daniel 8, the whole vision of which is expressly said to be referring to the end times (Daniel 8:17).

The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
Now we get to the fun part: Daniel 7's little horn
The Daniel 7 four beasts arise at the start of the 4 winds which begin right after the 6th Seal in Revelation 7:1.
Daniel 7
2 Daniel declared, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. 3 And four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9“As I looked,
thrones were placed,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat;
his clothing was white as snow,
and the hair of his head like pure wool;
his throne was fiery flames;
its wheels were burning fire.
10 A stream of fire issued
and came out from before him;
a thousand thousands served him,
and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him;
the court sat in judgment,
and the books were opened.
11“I looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
At the end of the 5th Trumpet/ start of the 6th Trumpet, the Daniel 7 little horn dies.9“As I looked,
thrones were placed,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat;
his clothing was white as snow,
and the hair of his head like pure wool;
his throne was fiery flames;
its wheels were burning fire.

Now comes the other fun part: let's go to Daniel 8, the whole vision of which is expressly said to be referring to the end times (Daniel 8:17).
2 I saw the vision, and as I watched, I was in the fortress city of Susa, in the province of Elam. I saw in the vision that I was beside the Ulai Canal. 3 I looked up, and there was a ram standing beside the canal. He had two horns. The two horns were long, but one was longer than the other, and the longer one came up last. 4 I saw the ram charging to the west, the north, and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no rescue from his power. He did whatever he wanted and became great.
5 As I was observing, a male goat appeared, coming from the west across the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground. The goat had a conspicuous horn between his eyes. 6 He came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and rushed at him with savage fury.
7 I saw him approaching the ram, and infuriated with him, he struck the ram, shattering his two horns, and the ram was not strong enough to stand against him. The goat threw him to the ground and trampled him, and there was no one to rescue the ram from his power. 8 Then the male goat became very great, but when he became powerful, the large horn was shattered.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the speaker, “How long will the events of this vision last — the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and of the host to be trampled? ”
14 He said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be restored.”
The 4 angels at the 6th Trumpet (Revelation 9:14) (the 'angels' of Ezekiel 10:15 are the same 'beasts' in Ezekiel 1:10 - which we know from Daniel 7 that beasts are kings & kingdoms) are the 4 kingdoms/ horns that spring up from the kingdom of the little horn in Daniel 7.5 As I was observing, a male goat appeared, coming from the west across the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground.
[the little horn of Daniel 7 defeats Russia & Iran and then dies and his kingdom is split into 4]
Four conspicuous horns came up in its place, pointing toward the four winds of heaven.
[compare with Revelation 9:14]
9 From one of them a little horn emerged and grew extensively toward the south and the east and toward the beautiful land. 10 It grew as high as the heavenly host, made some of the stars and some of the host fall to the earth, and trampled them. 11 It made itself great, even up to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His sanctuary. 12 Because of rebellion, a host, together with the daily sacrifice, will be given over. The horn will throw truth to the ground and will be successful in whatever it does.13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the speaker, “How long will the events of this vision last — the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and of the host to be trampled? ”
14 He said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be restored.”
