That might also include people who were baptised as infants but haven't been to church in years, decades even. It might also include people who self-identify as Christian but don't know anything about it. Perhaps the figure is artificially high?

God Bless :)

If it ever looks like Christianity has more than a small minority, there are a lot of people who are just pretending.

Yes, the way I see it the 29% statistic, is those who may have a shot at it. Because that 29% are going to have drastically different beliefs about salvation. And we know God only made one way for someone to be saved, not 100 different ways.

I hear a plea
A heavenly decree
Trumpets blown
Redemption sown

Depth of sin
Cleaned brand new
Untold glory
Heavenly dew

At last full circle
Christ complete
Forgotten prayers
Recorded in Christ's seat

Christ will come
And declare
I am King
I have paid your fare

Stand strong
Be not afraid
There is thousands
Christ has made

Full circle
Resurrected one
All quickened

Agreed. If the criteria in the survey were made robust the number would decrease. What is a 'Christian'?

If we were to bring in the uniqueness of Jesus Christ, regular meeting together with other Christians, the uniqueness of the bible, dying to self, the need for repentance, the soon physical return of Jesus Christ etc. I think you could knock the 9 off the 29 and keep the 2%!

God Bless :)

It’s probably, realistically, even lower.

At one point, 100% of the people in the world thought that a person's sex was determined at birth.

There is no guarantee that people will become more wise with time.

I believe the scripture which states in the last days there will be a great falling away BUT also there are seasons where there's great revivals. If God and his power, and conviction rocks a nation that 29% doesn't mean anything. It could change virtually overnight. I believe there are going to be many more coming to God in the coming days but of course it'll ultimately be how Jesus said it will be at his coming. That might actually be more than what we think right now.

Jesus said "few." It's never, ever going to be "many" because Jesus explicitly said, "few."

The universe conforms itself to the word of the Lord of Creation.

Almost 30% of the world are Christians? That's not bad.

What did it used to be?

In the US its 48.9% Protestant, 23% Catholic, 1.8% Mormon, and 18.2% no religion

I am pretty sure we are smaller than that.

When you say 'Christianity,' you do not know what other groups they are classifying as "Christian." They are lumping all groups who identify as Christian into that percentage. It is inaccurate.

When I was in graduate school a professor whom I respected gave me some advice that I still remember. He said, don't try to prove yourself right, try to prove yourself wrong.

When I see data such as those from JohnB445 above -- and he is not the exception -- it's clear that he and other people select data that shows that they are right.

I am always cynical about data such as those, as I'm quite sure they were not selected objectively; they were selected to prove the poster right. In other words, they're of no value.

Not to single JohnB445 out, as the forum is full of such self-serving data. The same principle applies to verses taken out of context, but that's another subject.
