Whoa!

That is a big change! Where is it you are or have moved to?

The commute is as good as it's going to get.

Does anyone believe in ghosts?

When I was 21 or 22 (I can't remember) I had a friend who was the age I am now, who died in 2013. She was like a big sister to me, she gave me the confidence to drop the introverted mindset and explore the world, make friends and live my best life.

I realised the other night, that over the years I had basically become her. It was literally as if my 21 year old self had SOMEHOW met my 29 year old self through her. When I had that thought, I could really (very strongly) feel her presence. As if she was telling me how proud she was.

It could be this lockdown thing playing tricks on my mind, but that was quite a moment.

It's both me wanting to feel safe and not wanting to spread anything. I watch after an elderly couple, who have an older, autistic son. I bought masks back in February, because I'm overly cautious like that. Now, everyone on this hill in west-nowhere is wearing masks. Being somewhat obsessive has its perks.
Oh God Bless you for helping them! It can't be easy God Keep you and them

When you’re posting on the Quiverfull forum, you know its time for bed! :sweetdream:

I had to really dig around to find that. It's slyly tucked away within those shady "grey area" spots.

It's as if they don't want you to find it.

@LaBèlla your avatars always remind me of Caro Emerald.

In my swing dancing days I used to encounter people who dressed up in period clothing. The ladies wore lovely dresses, and the guys wore waistcoats and sometimes had pocket watches. I'm sorry to say my effort didn't extend beyond buying some button on braces, and stitching buttons around the waistband of my trousers, although I did at least commit to it by unpicking the belt loops and removing them. You probably wouldn't believe me if I said I owned a sewing machine!

Great tunes (I love her vibe!)

That’s enough to make a girl palpitate! Then you mentioned the sewing machine. Wowzers! :happyblush:

How did you get into swing? Do you sew now?

~Bella

I still listen to swing and jazz music from time to time, but I haven't been to swing dancing for a while. When you do one dance, you soon encounter people who do other dances, and that's how I met people who were attending swing and lindyhop classes. I can still remember a few swing moves and some Charleston steps, but I only go to Salsa now. Unfortunately it's all shut for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus.

I bought the sewing machine because I wanted to make some power kites. They're very labour intensive to make, and cost a lot to buy, but at the time I had plenty of free time so I bought a cheap second hand sewing machine. In a good onshore breeze these kites are powerful enough to pull you across the beach, skidding all the way across the sand on your feet. Have you ever seen a 500m bobbin of thread? I used a whole one of those and more on one kite, so you can imagine the huge number of stitches involved. I don't use the sewing machine much now, apart from changing the odd trouser hem, a few repairs here and there, and adjusting the waist on trousers. And it needs a new belt at the moment. If I was serious about sewing I would buy a machine with a large motor that can stitch thicker fabric with stronger thread, because mine is really just a dress making machine that is only good for the lightest fabrics.

I can't remember the last time I wore a waistcoat, but I do own two. One of them is part of a three piece suit, the other is a splash of colour to be worn with my tuxedo.

I have two Caro Emerald CDs. I bought 'The Shocking Miss Emerald Deluxe Edition' CD new from a music store quite a long time ago. More recently I found 'From The Cutting Room Floor' in a charity shop, and it was in as new condition so I snapped it up for next to nothing. If you liked those two tracks you'd probably enjoy either or both of those CDs.
