Yes, Jesus guarantees we will have rest by obeying Him >
"'Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:29)
My experience is this rest has me submissive to God in His own peace > Colossians 3:15. And I enjoy discovering how this peace corrects me in how I see things and people. This is gentle and quiet (1 Peter 3:4) and emotionally kind . . . and easily able to keep me from giving in to different sorts of emotional and mental chaos > this is guaranteed >
"the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (in Philippians 4:6-7)
And in this rest I am in God's love which is all-loving, so I am caring about any and all people, and discovering how our Creator has me creative to love each and every person and have hope for any person, at all >
Love "hopes all things" > 1 Corinthians 13:7.
After all, this rest is in God's love . . . all-loving, sharing this with us.
So, in this rest we are not only feeling nice, but we are sharing with Jesus who is all-caring and whose peace is almighty against howsoever soul chaos would violate us.

In what way? Christ bore my sins on the cross and bore my just punishment, thus, reconciled me to God, through faith in Jesus Christ.

Peace, rest, the kingdom which God gives out of his good pleasure (which the first shadow or type of is the river that flows out of eden/pleasure) are synonymous; an ever increasing truth in us based on relationship, which is what our fellowship with each other is grounded in.
I was hoping this thread would give people a chance to express the riches found in the rest that God has given us in Christ.

I was strolling through the recent posts and saw this tree and some grapes hunging from a vine trained along its branches and decided to stop by. Even if this fox (me) can't reach the fruit on account of its short spiritual stature, at least I can enjoy some rest in its shade. The buzzing and the liveliness of the hummingbird (com7fy8) was especially pleasant to behold. Most delightfull to which I turned, was the ringing of a love song coming from... to my surprise, not a fowl of the air, but a kitten.

I haven't entered it yet.
I was never under the Law of Moses---being a Gentile---so I never had any burden to keep that. And I'll rest from my labors in Christ when I leave this body and go home to be with God and the saints who have gone before me.

That certainly is one of many ways to look at it.
Paul in one place looked at it in this way ...
"For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another ... "
For me the peace of God that passes all understanding is synonymous with the rest whereby he causes us to rest which is a present truth, but also like his kingdom an ever increasing truth, being that it is His very person in us, and whom we are presently one with, having become the resting place of God.
"Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."
Lest we forget, we enter into His rest by Him entering into His.

The only reason I did this thread was so people could read other peoples experiences, that some would have hope this rest is more than just a word ...

The process of coming into Right Believing, for most Christians, is hindered by bad teachers.
Wrong believing produces wrong living.
To live holy, you have to believe Right. If you are living a "sinning, repenting, confessing" life, then you are believing wrong. And until you learn what you are doing wrong, which is, =what you are believing wrong, you'll continue to be a Christian Failure.

Redeeming in the sense of being born again is the reality of the soul in relationship to who we are; it being the price of/for the purchased possession, even for us.
To know is as much relational as being, which are not disconnected from one another.
Jesus used the words “Born again” as a seeing, but not the entering into what you see, which the Hebrews writers words of striving to enter in leaves one in the same place, on the outside looking in.
Peter uses born again in the sense of the incorruptible seed we came out of, whereas John uses the term born of God six times to describe the truth we were birthed out of; Paul all things are new, and all things are of God (and this to those who could not bear the meat of this word he was trying to relate to them).
But nothing circumvents process, which brings us to an ever increasing experiential knowledge of who we are (which in one form is likened to rest, in another the knowing of our Father, or in another, then shall we know if we follow on to know). This no man can teach you; this no man can lead you into, or cause you to enter into, which by analogy is being born of water and spirit, which causes us to abide in Him, and this in relationship to the truth we are.

Being "born again", is to be Born INTO the Spirit of God, by the Spirit of God.
We are made "ONE" with God and Christ.
This is how we "abide".... We abide because we are in Spiritual Union with God and Christ.
Discipleship : is the "work out your salvation"........meaning, you HAVE IT, now learn how to live in it, correctly.

Salvation is all of God.
He begins it and ends it with the Blood of Jesus.
Salvation is finished at the beginning. We the born again , We BEGIN as "the righteousness of God in Christ".
For some, it can be that they never understand this, and so they are in bondage all their life trying to meet some personal expectation of holiness, thru self effort, that has no effect on Redemption.
Imagine the ignorance of trying to be accepted by God, all your life, by repenting and confessing, when He already accepted you for eternity, as evidenced by your being Born Again.
The Grace of God, excludes your self effort to complete it.

Yep and how simple/single of a truth it is; by thought you cannot add a cubit to your stature ... we are complete in him is the foundation he lays, as the delclartion of an end from the beginning, which beginning and end he is.

I can not find rest as a creature. there is always something I must be and do. in attempting to ignore this burden, it puts more of a burden on others. if I attempt to stop, I will suffer. if I keep going at it, I will suffer. jobs suffering and creaturehood are the same truths. what is the point of a rest if my soul and my flesh can not also participate in it?
complex systems have been formed by humans to try to ease the burden and in doing such new problems are created. most people are a priori fine with existing as a creature, with participating in the burden of life. of toiling for years, just to exist. they fear greatly to die. all societies efforts are put into trying to make them safe. humans are too successful in some ways. the population will increase to around 20 billion before it stops increasing. people would rather be bored for 80 years than to catch covid 19, die and go to heaven.
my morality is so burdened because death does not really mean much to me at all, but it means a lot to most. so I feel trapped. I don't want to be part of the evil and empty parts of this world. if I have rest in this world it will be a miracle. but it seems there is no middle ground for existing in this world. it is either one extreme or another.
