Mississippi church suing over virus restrictions burns down

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) — A church in Mississippi was destroyed by a suspected arson fire, about a month after its pastor filed a lawsuit challenging the city of Holly Springs on gathering restrictions amid the coronavirus outbreak.

First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi, burned down Wednesday morning, news outlets reported. When investigators from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office got to the scene, they found graffiti in the church parking lot that read: “Bet you stay home now you hypokrites.”

More and more will the beast single us out for destruction. It is only a matter of time before we have a full scale persecution going on. World wide most Churches have been closed already. Now pick us of one after the other on the internet, and they will have silenced us most effectually.

So I was curious about why the graffiti writer called them hypocrites. I found this explanation of the lawsuit they filed. It may have something to do with this.

...
A federal judge quickly put the kibosh on the apparently differential treatment granted by the municipality to the church and high-powered corporate outposts.
...
“Holly Springs made a rather poor decision to draft an ordinance which simply grouped ‘churches’ together with other ‘non-essential’ businesses such as ‘barber shops,’ ‘restaurants’ and ‘liquor stores,” Mills also noted in his ruling that relied upon the First and 14th Amendments–adding that the municipality’s “vague prohibition of ‘any gathering’” was “problematic.”

The upshot of that decision was that First Pentecostal would be allowed to hold drive-in services for the foreseeable future.

But the judge’s patience with the parishioners quickly wore thin.

...

A Mississippi Church Sued Over Coronavirus Restrictions and Won. A Few Weeks Later It Was Burned to the Ground.

Where is the supposed hypocrisy? Yes I know the arsonists actually spelled it “hypokrites.”

Woah! Science ain't messing around anymore.
And they need to learn how to spell words properly. Or the police need to be looking at someone who knows Koine Greek.

Just read this article.. seems the judge was not well informed, all of the events that caused "the judge’s patience with the parishioners quickly wore thin." were Easter Sunday, long before any court proceedings. (Their service was violated by police and they staged an impromptu brief walk through the local Walmart to point out the double standard being imposed on the church after dismissing) The government tried to portray the church as being flagrant after winning one legal victory, but by all accounts they held only outdoor services and didn't stage any protests or otherwise do anything other than have outdoor church a few hours each week since the first ruling. Meanwhile they continued to be harassed by the city despite the ruling, which prompted the further lawsuits. It's a shame that the judge didn't understand the false narrative being presented by the city. Either way it's clear that the devil wants this church shut down. You can expect the media to continue the attack on this church. I would hope that those here on the forum can see the true enemy here and not also turn on those who would worship The Lord.
