No they already believed so it cannot be the same rest. That's why it says therefore there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. To continue resting from our physical work, due to faith and obedience. They already believed, again past tense.

Hebrew 4:9...There remains then a sabbath rest for the people of God...

is Not remains from when....But remains for Gods people to enter in to the sabbath rest...as the good news is still proclaiming until the return of Christ...

Where in the text is Lydia called a Gentile or a God fearing Gentile? All it says is Lydia came from Thyatira. All the text states is that Lydia was a God worshiper. The text does not tell us she was a Gentile. Stop assuming things, the text is silent on her status.I did not understand that reply.Jesus was in trouble with the Jews for claiming equality with God and for breaking the Sabbath. Jesus always worked on the Sabbath though.

But Pilate had Jesus crucified on the wish of the crowd.

What issue at the council of Jerusalem? The Gentile churches were never under the law of Moses. Paul refused to teach the law to the Gentiles and even forbid that they be circumcised. Not sure what your saying here? That does not mean that Gentile converts to Christianity had to be under the law of Moses. That verse is referring to Gentile converts to Judaism. You are correct on this passage. The Gentile converts to Judaism attended the synagogue every Sabbath, as you would expect them to.
The problem is that the text does not say what your saying. The Gentiles were not circumcised so they were not under the law. It's so simple really. The law demands circumcision and the only way to break the law. Is to not be under the law.
Sorry about that but that is the truth.Gentile churches met on the first day of the week. Christian history tells us that they did. Of course you must see the early church letters as Satan's handiwork. Because someone told you that they were the devil's work.

The scripture won't let a Gentile Christian submit to the law.

Wow you are totally confused. So Jerusalem or the Jews condemned Jesus but would have never said anything whatsoever to the apostles or the Gentiles for breaking the Sabbath? That's ludicrous.

You also believe that Jesus worked in the Sabbath hence sinning? Wow. Now I know exactly how you twist scripture. He was doing good on the sabbath, that's not working for money or doing labour. It's ok to do activities like saving a life, etc. So you are telling me, if Jerusalem was attacked on the sabbath the young were allowed to defend themselves, so there are exceptions obviously, stop acting like no work at all is done, if so you are adding to the law like the Pharisees did.

Abraham believed God...,Moses believed etc Hebrews 11 mentioned other OT believers...

Exactly yet Moses and others still had to rest on the Sabbath, thank you for proving my point. Once you believe apparently according to you you don't need the sabbath anymore.

They already believed what?? Are you saying they believe a different Good news or gospels OR believe the same gospels?
Hebrews 4:2...For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did ....

Hebrews 3:19..So we see that they were Not able to enter (sabbath rest) because of their unbelief...is Not about rest from physical work is rest from being slave to sin...is a spiritual rest Not physical rest...

Exactly, you are the one who thinks they had a different gospel. Since it's the same gospel the sabbath rest remains. If they had the same gospel then they would have no longer needed to follow the sabbath since they would be resting in Jesus work

Believed in the gospel and Christ and God.
Read your post #181....You said they already believed (OT
believers) so it cannot be the same rest...So how can be a different rest if both the OT believers and NT believers enters into Gods rest in believing the same Gospels or Good news?

Yes the sabbath rest remains because the gospels is still preaching to all people, nations, tongues until the coming of Christ...see my post#180

Hebrew 4:9...There remains then a sabbath rest for the people of God...

is Not remains from when.

On the contrary the chapter points back to Psalms.. "there remains" points to the fact that it already existed before and still remains.

So then not only did David have it in his day - but as we see in Matthew 17 before the cross, Moses and Elijah stand with Christ in glory.

Enoch and Elijah both translated without seeing death - directly to heaven.
