If Jesus died for the world why does most of scripture say the opposite?

I’m the one that keeps saying for you to present your case. I don’t know how that can be so misunderstood. I said it in the post you quoted.

That case was presented by many people on this board. What did you do? You refused to discuss those Scriptures. Instead, you make blanket statements without evidence, without discussing those Passages give, that they are not giving the context. That is your escape, besides using your own philosophy to contradict God's Word.

I refuse to accept scripture without examining the context. I won’t apologize for that. And like I showed, Romans 5:8 doesn’t support universal atonement. Or particular redemption.

What you refused was to examine the context of Scripture provided. Rather, you made blanket statements that all of the Scriptures given were not in context without evidence. You refused to acknowledge or examine the Scriptural evidence given. Instead, you divert to making philosophical statements and questions.

Obviously that’s not true since I explained Romans 8:1-11.

And in context.

You are only quoting part of Romans 8, and even that, you are translating it by eliminating the word "walk" in Romans 8:5 - a word that is suppose to be in the text but was omitted by you.

It doesn’t change the meaning.

The parable of the banquet invitation is better looked at as if Israel - Gods first invitation-refused the call to salvation and then the uninvited -Gentiles- were called in. The parable of the net has two components. First the net is cast to catch fish and then when it is full it is dragged up to shore to sort the fish. The end of the age is where the net is dragged up to shore. It’s better related to the drawing of men mentioned because even though it does say Jesus will draw all men to him, not all will be saved.
Are you saying “all” men (fish) are drawn to Christ, but some that are draw will also be cast into hell (bad fish that were drawn to Christ)?

If the drawing is not determining who is saved and who is lost, what is the determining factor so you can tell bad from good fish.

Let's put it this way, since only a few out of the mass of humanity will ever be saved, how many good things do the unsaved do every day:

Working for a living
Raising their families
Loving their wives
Smiling at someone
Helping someone cross the street
Taking someone to the hospital that is injured.

And hundreds of other things the unsaved do everyday.

Matthew 7:11 (WEB)
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

What does that prove?

Now, when you are ready go to the Scriptures to see what God has revealed instead of using your human pride, then you will more likely able to understand spiritual things.
I think your being caught up in a tricky question. Accepting the gospel is as good as the demons believing in Christ, so can demons do good stuff?

Faith, as we are justified by faith through grace.

The demons believed (had faith in) but they are not going to be saved.

All sinners have faith in something.

There are those who trust (have faith in) God’s Love to the point they believe He can help them, but they have to be willing to humble accept that help (charity/Love/grace/mercy/forgiveness) as pure charity.

It doesn’t change the meaning.

To walk in the Spirit is something you are doing, and something that the Apostle Paul is commanding us to do to receive Life. This is plain language that anyone can understand. But of course you cannot see it because you are not willing to admit anything that disagrees with your dogma.

But for all those on this board, the Words are seen. Whether you choose to see is your issue.

Romans 8:4-5 (WEB)
4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:12-14 (WEB) 12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Galatians 6:7-10 (WEB)
7 Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption.
But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
9 Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of The Faith.

Galatians 5:16-25 (WEB)
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.
24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.

I think the demons believing in Christ and the faith of a believer is different. When James mentions the demons believing that is more related to knowledge of rather than the trust you mention. Are you asking what makes a believer different than a non believer? Nothing internal. Faith is not from oneself but a gift of God. It’s not part of you and never came from within.

Satan and the demons were once God’s holy angels. The demons believe in Jesus with all their little wicked hearts. 1/3 of these perfect angels, including the most powerful covering Angel of Light over God’s thrown, Lucifer, chose to disobey God by their own willful pride (Rev 12:4-9). These fallen angels, now demons, surely believe, know, and bow down to Jesus and His power and authority over them as Lord, even while all the while we see and learn about professing Christians ignoring Jesus power and authority in their lives, calling it “works.” If you object, please read the Epistle of Jude first, and then object if you can.

So, the Gospel – which includes a belief in all that the Gospel reveals – is the sum total of God’s gracious offer and conditions for salvation – this is “The Faith.”

We access that grace of salvation that the Gospel offers through a real Gospel Faith in Jesus, just as the Gospel instructs us. At that point, we are now “in The Faith.” That is the NT Covenant God establishes between God and Man.

Romans 5:1-2

Having conditions to salvation does not mean we earn salvation by this faith; rather, God graciously counts as worthy of His grace and gift of salvation only to those who demonstrate a Gospel Faith (Matthew 3:7-8; Matthew 10:37-38; Acts 26:19-20; Ephesians 4:1-4; Ephesians 5:1-17; Philippians 1:27; Colossians 1:9-13; 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12; 2 Thessalonians 1:4-11; Revelation 3:3-4).

Matthew 10:37-38 (WEB) 37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me. 38 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me.

2 Thessalonians 1:4-11 (WEB) 4 So that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your perseverance and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure. 5 This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of God’s Kingdom, for which you also suffer.

Revelation 3:3-4 (WEB) 3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it and repent. If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you. 4 Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that didn’t defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.

And to believe, to have faith in Lord Jesus, must be the kind of faith the Gospel defines. The Lord God accepts no fence sitters.

Luke 9:62 (WEB) 62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom.”

Matthew 6:24 (WEB) 24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.

“Mammon” refers to all things of this world which become our idols that we rely on as our life.

Matthew 10:38-39 (WEB) 38 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me. 39 He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

2 Timothy 2:19-21 (WEB)
19 However God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal,
The Lord knows those who are his,” [Numbers 16:5] and,
Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.”
20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor. 21 If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.

Romans 6:15-18 (WEB) 15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? May it never be! 16 Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were delivered. 18 Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.

At that point we are now in The Faith. We appropriate to ourselves all that we believe about “The Faith,” including all God’s many gracious promises to us, by personally placing our faith in Jesus.

By this faith commitment God indwells us by His Spirit

Acts 5:32 (WEB) 32 We are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.

John 14:15-17 (WEB). . . 15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth

The indwelling Spirit leads our faith to victory, but only as we continue to follow Christ Jesus by faith, living and walking by His Spirit:

Galatians 5:16-25 (WEB)
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh...
24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.

Romans 8:12-13 (WEB) 12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Galatians 6:7-10 (WEB) 7 Don’t be deceived.

The Scriptures also teach that we are responsible to remain faithful to the end to receive eternal life in the coming Kingdom of God. This is the test of your faith. God indwells us by His Spirit to save us and guide us into a holy and righteous life of love as we remain faithful to Christ, following Him, which is to walk in His Spirit (Romans 8:3-4; Romans 8:12-13; Galatians 5:13-25; Galatians 6:7-9; John 10:27-28). The Gospel commands, urges, and warns us to remain faithful in the true Gospel Faith, and not to be deceived, so we may be saved and inherit the promises of God.

Blessings,
Steven

It’s not you who lives but Jesus. You would never be able to walk the path of faith if you have not died on the cross with Christ and now it is him who leads your life. You are not responsible because you are already dead on the cross! Assuming of course you are a believer. You mention keeping your salvation. It was never your job it was Christ’s. Who is your saviour? Jesus or your flesh?

You are ignoring the distinction between those who walk in the Spirit (those in Christ) and those who walk in the flesh (those not in Christ). You are ignoring that he has already discussed the two groups starting in chapter 5 (those in Adam v those in Christ) and in chapter 6 (slaves of sin vs slaves of righteousness). You ignored that in my previous argument, and you will most likely continue to ignore it. Your verses from Galatians 5 actually support my argument, so I’m good with that.

As I've said many times, first you believe, then you repent, then you get regenerated/ saved. But not everyone believes this.
But you can't show from scripture how those who are according to Scripture are unable to please God, can somehow be real enough, and can of themselves produce faith of such virtue as to lift themselves above their slavery to sin, to "accept" Christ into their fickle silly self-important hearts and God must respect their free will i.e. power of decision and self-determination in a world of cause-and-effect. Regeneration is entirely, from start to finish, the work of God. The faith is the gift of God, the work of the Holy Spirit, not the work of ignorant effects.

There are no little first causes walking about on the planet. The only thing worth calling real is what God decides.

I quoted the Scriptures for you which clearly teaches the distinction between those walking in the flesh and those walking in to Spirit so nothing is ignored. Both are walking. But we are commanded to walk in the Spirit to receive life. If you choose to disbelieve in God's Word that is your issue.

Who is your saviour? Jesus or your flesh?
Galatians 2:20-21

Christ lives in you by faith in Jesus - following Him, just as Lord Jesus commanded you.

  • Did Jesus command you to listen to and follow Him to receive life? Yes He did.
  • Did Jesus command you to take up your cross daily and follow Him to live? Yes He did.
1 John 2:4-6 (WEB) 4 One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him. 5 But God’s love has most certainly been perfected in whoever keeps his word. This is how we know that we are in him: 6 he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

By faith, You are to obey Jesus who commands you to follow Him to receive eternal life.

John 10:27-28 WEB
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Luke 9:23-24 (WEB) 23 He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, will save it.

Acts 26:19-20 (WEB)
19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, 20 but declared first to them of Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

Revelation 3:3-5 (WEB)
3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it and repent. If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you. 4 Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that didn’t defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Your response to the Gospel Call while in this temporary existence on earth has eternal repercussions.
  • God will not believe for you.
  • The Spirit of God will not believe for you.
Rather, by faith we access God’s power and grace onto salvation. By faith, we follow Jesus, and this is walking by His Spirit. As we faithfully follow Jesus, only then will the Spirit lead us. The Spirit leads the faithful.

Romans 1:16-17 (WEB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. 17 For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith: As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” [Habakkuk 2:4]

Roman 5:1-2 (WEB) 1 Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; 2 through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Galatians 2:20-21

Galatians 2:20 (WEB)
20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

Being crucified with Christ is called repentance leading us to put to put to death the deeds of the flesh, so that we may now follow Christ Jesus. For instance, we are baptized into Christ Jesus when we repent, turning from sin, and committing our lives to serving Jesus - put on Christ.

  • You are the one who crucified the flesh through repentance.
  • You are the one who responsible to live and walk by the Spirit.

Galatians 5:24-25
24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.

Therefore, in Baptism we are the ones who put on Christ Jesus

Galatians 3:26-27 (WEB)
26 For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Colossians 2:5-13
5 Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 For these things’ sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7 You also once walked in those, when you lived in them; 8 but now you also put away all anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth. 9 Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, 10 and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator, 11 where there can’t be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondservant, or free person; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

Notice that you are commanded to put to death the old nature, and then to put on the new man. As you do this, the Spirit leads your faith to victory.

You only receive the Spirit by an obedient Faith in Lord Jesus:

Acts 5:32 (WEB) 32 We are His witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.

John 14:15-17 (WEB). . . 15 If you love me, keep my commandments. 16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: 17 the Spirit of truth

John 14:23 (WEB) 23 Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

Acts 2:38 (WEB) 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

However to be regenerated by the Spirit, you must faithfully follow Jesus – which is to walk in the Spirit, because the Spirit will only lead those who faithfully follow Jesus – For the Scriptures teach that regeneration, the new creation, or the salvation of God occurs only by believing – a Gospel Faith demonstrated by listening to and following Jesus – walking by His Spirit that we receive by faith (2 Corinthians 5:15-17; Galatians 5:13-24; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 8:12-14; Galatians 6:7-10).

Galatians 5:16-25 (WEB)
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
24 Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.

Romans 8:12-14 (WEB) 12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

Galatians 6:7-10 (WEB) 7 Don’t be deceived.

Therefore, a Gospel Faith is one in which we renounce the old life of sin, and now commit to follow Lord Jesus, just as Jesus commanded of us. As we do this, the Spirit of God indwells us to lead our faith to victory, but only as we, by faith, continue to walk by the Spirit we received.

What did Lord Jesus command of us? The answer is: The Lord Jesus commanded us to believe in Him. And by this faith, we are to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him into a life of love and righteousness to be saved, just as Lord Jesus taught us and gave himself as an example for us to follow.

Luke 9:23-26 (WEB) 23 He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.

John 13:34 (WEB) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.

Blessings.
