"Do all things without complaining and disputing," (Philippians 2:14)

Arguing can be one of the most destructive things > it can ruin married people, and its bad example can ruin their children so they do not find out how to relate in love. And one secular source said two studies, I think, found that the depression problem of studied housewives got worse with increased arguing in their marriages.

That is deeply destructive.

I just finished Judges, and that entire book depicts a seriously messed up & violent people! My head was reeling by the time I was done; it really leaves you begging for God's leadership, so this never happens again! :crossrc:

There are many stories of violence in the Bible, the most disturbing story in my opinion would be the deranged culture of Sodom and Gomorrah and God’s subsequent destruction of the city by burning it down with all its depraved population in it.

If I answer this will I be helping someone criticize our faith in Jehovah?
Is denying the violence of the Bible any better? Seeing what parts of the Bible are the most violent is another way of studying it. Judges is gruesome, but it's easy to see that it's a result of the Israelites falling away from God's leadership.

I'll be reading Judges today
I know you requested verses, but I think you'll see why I didn't. It all fits in the context so much better than if I pulled a few out!

Yes, constructively useful if one is studying it to see how much our sin hurts God or the like but, if one is trying to save time and energy and leech off data to make it easier to use against the very ones providing it, that is another thing. If the later is the case let them work for it, but it looks like there is an abundance already of quickly volunteered data.

To me one of the most horrifying passages is Abraham's attempted human sacrifice of his son Isaac. I find it interesting that the Bible records no further contact between Abraham and either Isaac or Sarah. I can't really blame them.
