Yesterday I had decided to do a study on Witchcraft and Spiritualism. For the last 4 years I went down this path willingly and of my own free choice. I was studying within the Christian perspective and read and studied the verses that are against witchcraft and all that it entails. Yes, the bible states that it is detestable and an abomination towards God, however, the questions are how and why is it detestable and an abomination to God? Also it stated that God would literally kill and command the Israelites to put to death anyone who practiced witchcraft? If this is the case then why are we not doing that today? What is the difference between what the Old Testament followed compared to today? Yes, I am also aware that the scripture states that anyone who practices witchcraft will also be in the Lake of Fire on the Day of Judgment.

What defines certain practices as being witchcraft? Yes, there is the black witchcraft that is sacrificing children, animals, people, and putting curses and hexes upon people. Yet there is the White witchcraft or Wicca which is strictly worshipping nature and being kind to nature. So why is Wicca or white witchcraft considered evil?

Are other practices, such as reiki, energy healing, cleansing of the chakras and aura, doing meditation, and being mindful. Is this witchcraft? If so why and how?

I personally do not desire to practice witchcraft, nor am I into cursing and hexing people. My desire is to be mindful at the moment, meditate, as there are many ways of doing meditation and do self-healing. I am not into spirit guides, speaking to spirits of dead people, nor am I into mediums. I just want the basics.

So if I desire to better myself in meditation, self-healing, nature, herbs, cleansing of chakras and the aura, how could this be considered witchcraft?

Donna
Our Father loves us for being His children. If we worship nature, black or white energy, it means we are denying our Father and loving his nature. This is sin and death is penality for sin.

Meditation, surya namaskar, rekhi or chakra healing - all these are sins in God's eyes because we are distancing ourself from our Father by following our own way for whatever may be the purpose

There is always grace and forgiveness if we believe in the finish work of Christ. Witchcraft is descrive as something we should avoid, the same with fornication, bitterness, and all works of the flesh. Even thought our lord Jesus Christ already paid for our sins and will not be send to hell. We will still stand infront of the judgement seat of Christ.

however, the questions are how and why is it detestable and an abomination to God?

Does the "why" actually matter?

So why is Wicca or white witchcraft considered evil?

Because spiritual things that are not from God are from Satan. There is no "white" witchcraft.

Let me repeat that for emphasis: spiritual things that are not from God are from Satan.

cleansing of chakras and the aura

"Chakras" do not exist; neither does the "aura." So you can't "cleanse" them.

Having experience with this aspect of creation, witchcraft is basically the subconscious part of the person networking with other people's subconscious' - the "energy" generated all comes from the same place. In some cases it is directly from a demon, in other cases it comes from the part of us that Jesus called the devil when speaking to Peter. This is why rebellion and the sin of witchcraft are the same thing, since the means to produce self healing through the body strengthens the Romans 7 element within our bodies that opposes the will of God.

It is far better to learn how to heal using the resources of the kingdom of God than using what is of the world, since the basic principles of the world were at work when Jesus was crucified.

"So if I desire to better myself in meditation, self-healing, nature, herbs, cleansing of chakras and the aura, how could this be considered witchcraft?"

First, meditation would need to be defined and then examined in light of what Jesus has given us in the new and better covenant. I find a lot of substitutes are being used nowadays for the Holy Spirit as Paul asked the Galatians, "why complete in the flesh, what has begun in the spirit?"

Cleansing of Auras and Chakras constitutes emotional energy, in general - if you can feel it, it's not spiritual - since what is spiritual is at odds with the flesh, and also the flesh cannot discern what is of the spirit - thus not spiritual.

The magnifying of emotional energy tends to put a big bullseye on your person for the wrong kind of spiritual activity. At first you may find healing and joy in it, but the reality of it (including with reiki) is that the energy is part of a network that passes through people and there are transactions required that are not explained. The more you use a medium that is emotional based and appears to be giving "free energy" the more it begins to own you - much like how a credit card does not give free money, there is a cost. There is always a cost, and it is important to note this.

Since one cannot love God and Money, the same applies to the mirror to the economic systems - the energy network that charges interest on your very future, and you won't notice til much later on.

Since the cultivation of emotional energy also feeds the Romans 7 "law of sin" within the body, this (expanding of the part of the body that is hostile to God) blocks out God who is light, since the sin is opaque - so the main cost might be feeling like God isn't there anymore some years down the road since your senses have been dulled to the reality of the kingdom of God.

Again, you'd need to define meditation before I'd comment specifically.

For "worshiping nature" and
disregarding there is a real God.

Practicing witchcraft can open someone
up to be demon possessed.

If your name is here that is because I like the responses that you gave me without judgement, criticism or being condescending. Some of you shared that you were once involved in witchcraft and the New Age and that you are no longer involved. I would like to know more and how you were able to get away from it.

One of you mentioned about God giving us a free-will. Yes I agree to this. I would like to know more.

As for myself I'm going to be straight forward with how I went down this path. I was more into the self-healing aspect and finding out who I was, without being persuaded by others in who I should be. Yes this lead me to other beliefs and a different path. Some of it lead me to Wicca, New Age and Spiritualism.

Did I seek out mediums and Psychics? Yes. Did I learn about energy, auras, chakras, meditation and mindfulness? Yes. Did I talk with so called spirit guides? Yes. However I had to stop seeking out spirits as I would have spirits visit me even in my sleep.

As for meditation I did not do the Eastern or witchcraft types. Some were guided meditations and simply learning to sit quiet and do breathing exercises. I did this because I would get easily distracted and I was dealing with fear and anxiety. Did this help me? Yes. Also going out in nature was simply to refocus my mind by admiring God's creation. I did not worship nature as I knew this was wrong to do.

I was never into doing witchcraft or satanism or cursing or hexing anyone, as I knew this was totally a wrong thing to do. Other things I am not too sure on. So I was seeking answers with regards to it and also wanting to come back to Christianity. But I have a struggle in doing so.

So this is where I am at. I look forward to hearing your response and you are more than welcome to private message me.

Nobody here has judged or condemned you. When you ask advise, you have to expect replies that you do not particularly like. Not just things you want to hear. My question is why come to a Christian Forum, ask for Christian advice and expect people to give you the okay on what’s forbidden in the Christian Faith? I mean, I’m used to this type of behavior because I have had firsthand experience with it from my sister and I just skimmed the surface of it. I think you are doing a lot of judging and condemning yourself. It’s an open thread where all can participate.
