I wrote the poem under inspired from these bibleparts which I read in the chapter of today in Leviticus. I think it is great being reminded of Jesus Christ when reading in the old testament. I see this clearer in these parts now than last time when I read here, although reading in God's Word is truly a big search in a treasure chest which doesn't stop, and keeps on amazing me, as well as giving me joy!
There is truly more which could have been written down and expressed, but this is how it came out this time. Next time it may become different than this.
I will first put the bibleparts and then I will write down the poem. Feel free to share any thoughts you may have.
"And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness." (Leviticus 16:7-10)
"Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness." (Leviticus 16:15-16)
"And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness." (Leviticus 16:20-22)
"And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar." (Leviticus 16:25)
Sin Offering and Scapegoat.
Aaron brother of Moses,
had to take two goats to being presented before the LORD.
And he had to cast lots for them,
one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat.
One goat would be killed as a sin offering before the LORD,
and the other goat would become a scapegoat which would be let loose into the wilderness.
The goat used for sin offering was killed for the sins of the people,
his blood would be brought within the vail,
and be sprinkled upon the mercy seat as well as before it.
And Aaron would make an atonement for the holy place,
because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
And because of their transgression in all their sins,
he shall do this for the tabernacle of the congregation which is among them in their uncleanness.
And when he is finished of reconciling the holy place,
he shall bring in the living goat.
And Aaron would put both of his hands upon the goat's head,
and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel.
And all of their transgressions in all their sins,
putting them upon the goat and letting him be taken into the wilderness.
And the goat will bear all of their iniquities,
into an inhabited land.
The fat of the sin offering,
will be burnt upon the altar.
Jesus Christ our Lord,
was both the goat of sin offering as well as the scapegoat.
As He bore all of our transgressions in sins,
and He was killed as a sin offering before God.
Jesus became our atonement given to God,
as well as to whom we confess our sins to and are forgiven in by God.
The fat of our sins,
got burnt on the cross.
Cleansed in Christ,
and forgotten by God.
As when we truly repent,
God will not keep it against us when we stand in Christ.
God will see Christ in us,
forgive our sins and not judge us for our sins.
