I wrote the poem under inspired from these bibleparts which I read in the chapter of today in Leviticus. I think it is great being reminded of Jesus Christ when reading in the old testament. I see this clearer in these parts now than last time when I read here, although reading in God's Word is truly a big search in a treasure chest which doesn't stop, and keeps on amazing me, as well as giving me joy!

There is truly more which could have been written down and expressed, but this is how it came out this time. Next time it may become different than this. ;)

I will first put the bibleparts and then I will write down the poem. Feel free to share any thoughts you may have.

"And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness." (Leviticus 16:7-10)

"Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness." (Leviticus 16:15-16)

"And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness." (Leviticus 16:20-22)

"And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar." (Leviticus 16:25)

Sin Offering and Scapegoat.

Aaron brother of Moses,
had to take two goats to being presented before the LORD.
And he had to cast lots for them,
one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat.

One goat would be killed as a sin offering before the LORD,
and the other goat would become a scapegoat which would be let loose into the wilderness.

The goat used for sin offering was killed for the sins of the people,
his blood would be brought within the vail,
and be sprinkled upon the mercy seat as well as before it.

And Aaron would make an atonement for the holy place,
because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
And because of their transgression in all their sins,
he shall do this for the tabernacle of the congregation which is among them in their uncleanness.

And when he is finished of reconciling the holy place,
he shall bring in the living goat.

And Aaron would put both of his hands upon the goat's head,
and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel.
And all of their transgressions in all their sins,
putting them upon the goat and letting him be taken into the wilderness.

And the goat will bear all of their iniquities,
into an inhabited land.
The fat of the sin offering,
will be burnt upon the altar.

Jesus Christ our Lord,
was both the goat of sin offering as well as the scapegoat.
As He bore all of our transgressions in sins,
and He was killed as a sin offering before God.

Jesus became our atonement given to God,
as well as to whom we confess our sins to and are forgiven in by God.

The fat of our sins,
got burnt on the cross.
Cleansed in Christ,
and forgotten by God.

As when we truly repent,
God will not keep it against us when we stand in Christ.
God will see Christ in us,
forgive our sins and not judge us for our sins.

Incorrect ... the scapegoat was not slain .... the scapegoat symbolizes the one bearing responsibility for sin (no saving/atonement ability) however receives judgement. The scapegoat symbolizes satan and ultimately bears all responsibility (only responsibility ... like said before ... does NOT have ANYTHING to do with saving)

Satan does not bear our sin; he bears his own sin. He shares our guilt when he tempts us to sin. While Jesus died for our guilt, He did not die for Satan’s guilt, so it is still placed upon Satan.

I loved the poem and I love more that whom gives them to us. So when you wrote:

Did you not mean that you wrote the poem under the inspiration of the Lord?

I do pray for the Holy Spirit to also inspire me.

I am glad you loved the poem. I do find it sometimes difficult to start writing, but then it can become easier... other times it is also very easy for me writing it down.

It can be different each time. I am writing down what comes to mind as well, sometimes I may be reminded of an incident in my past and then I share this with the Lord. Looking at the chapter part or whole chapter that I read. :)

Thanks for your response.

Jesus was also seen as a scapegoat, as He did got put all of our iniquities and sins upon Him, He bore this for us. Now today I was reminded of Isaiah 53, concerning this part.

Isaiah 53:1-12

The Sin-Bearing Messiah

Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
And they made His grave with the wicked—
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.

But I do also appreciate your response. So thank you too.

Agree that Jesus represents both goats. I enjoyed the points made in the op. I just thought the other posts didn’t add to understanding but contributed to a personal comment so deleted it.

Thanks for your response. And it is okay, I just didn't know whether it was good or bad meant, so I wanted to ask. I keep on learning. ;)

I think it makes it stronger seeing how linked together the old testament and the new testament are, and it makes everything so much more beautiful and powerful, seeing everything God had in mind, preparing us for the coming of His Son Jesus Christ, Whom made the last sacrifice given for us, letting us becoming saved through Him! :clap: :holy:

The 'intelesting' point of connection with those references is that the high priest loses the scape goat after the priestly duties have been completed of not just the blood of the goat not released but also that of the bull.

There is still so much to learn, and so much one will notice from this.

Jesus is also our high priest. ;) God is just so amazing in every way! :)

Yeah - He certainly answers that prayer and inspires you. So off course it can be different each time. There is a time for everything under the sun. Thank you for sharing. It is easy to see you know the Lord and have a wonderful relationship with Him. :)

Leviticus 16:8
Then Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat.

“But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, [and] to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.” Leviticus 16:10

first lot for the LORD .... second not for the Lord (scapegoat) banished into the wilderness
second goat no blood shed - not slain

Hebrews 9:22
Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

The first goat shed blood .... the second goat did not shed blood and was banished to the wilderness.

Once the first goat was slain (representing Christ) the symbolism of His death and forgiveness of sins ... atonement for sin was made (symbolically through Christ) ...

The second goat

The guilt and responsibility for sin is placed upon the scapegoat who is sent into the wilderness. This represents satan spending a thousand years after the Second Coming here on earth, as it lies wasted and barren. After a thousand years of considering his great idea to rebel against God’s government and start his own, he will realize it was not such a great idea after all.

satan does not bear our sin; he bears his own sin. He shares our guilt when he tempts us to sin. While Jesus died for our guilt, He did not die for satan’s guilt, so it is still placed upon satan.

The word “atonement” is used. How can Satan atone for our sins? Again, he does not atone for our sins, he (satan) atones for his own sin by dying an eternal death.

I do appreciate your response. I find it interesting from what you tell, and I do can understand it the way you explain it.

I am aware of that the scapegoat didn't shed any blood. I am more pointing at that He was brought forth as a scapegoat because all of our iniquities and sins were put upon Him on the cross. A scapegoat is seen as shameful, the way Jesus was treated before and after He was put on the cross was nothing but shameful. He even was abandoned by God when hanging on the cross, because of all our sins, God hates sin!

Even though He did conquer death in victory after His death on the cross, and was raised up again from the dead in the grave three days later, at the time He endured the cross, He became "Shame" to all who saw Him.

God keep on blessing you!
