I live in a flat and have a persistent problem with pigeons congregating on the rafters above my balcony and making a mess everywhere. My balcony table, chairs and decking have been cleaned so many times and the pigeons keep returning and doing the same thing over again.

I recently bought an ornament which I believed would be a deterrent to the pigeons: an owl which sits on the decking, with reflective eyes and whose head turns from side to side in the wind. However, this idea has not been successful.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to keep the pigeons away?

Since the owl didn't work I have no idea whether another predator might. But I found my chickens to be TERRIFIED of snakes and would all alarm and run even if they saw me carry away a dead one. At least snakes can look real even when not moving. But again, no idea if it would really work for you. (My cats also recognize that snakes are dangerous and avoid even dead or fake ones.)

That's a really good idea. A still object such as a snake would fit in the rafter quite well and should be easy to put in place without being knocked over blown over by gusts of wind. I'll certainly give that a try. I'm looking at Amazon and they seem to have some good ones at reasonable prices. Certainly well worth a go - thanks very much for the suggestion!

A picture of a cat? Lol
A sign? "Trespassers will be shot?" (In pigeon language of course)
Are pigeons afraid of Corgis?
There's a space in the corner of the balcony for a small kennel. Bone and water would be provided!

But think of the comfy chairs and the huge human sized basket! Probably a nice luxury carpet to chew on as well

Have you tasted carpet! Yuk! Laminate is better!

My dad tried this too. My cat got scare but eventual he would try to challenge the owl. Once the owl did nothing, my cat wasn't scared anymore. I think it's the same with other animals too.
