How is "What Are You Afraid Of?" I should read that as well.
It’s good so far. :) I checked out the e-book from the library.
I wanted a Christian book focusing on that topic so I’m glad I found that one.

On a scale from 1 to 5 in terms of the degree of abuse and dysfunction someone can suffer in childhood/life I'd rank his experience (at least from what he revealed) at a 3.5. I've known people with more severe horror stories than his.

It isn't a contest of severity. It's the overcoming people remember. The majority don't land at Yale Law School. Most in his situation repeat the past and develop a cycle that spans many generations.

And FTR: My childhood was just as bad as his. (no worse or better) The difference is I accepted the call of Christ and am HIs chosen. Can I take claim or credit for that?

God can use both situations to reach different people. What ministers to one may not resonate with another. Books can take two years to go through the publishing process. It's impossible to know his relationship with God without asking.

I'm talking about human terms, however. Because the kind of judgment the people of the world are under is in God's hands; not ours. Our job is just to love them and tell them the truth.

Knowing love and doing love are different animals. I don't think the latter is commonly shown. :)

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I got problems.

lol I'm reading 12 books currently. :sorry: But they're all e-books. I only buy books I really really enjoyed and plan to reread.

Speaking of which I finished Brooklyn today, Was a really good book and I usually like the book better than the movie but I have to admit.. I like the movie better. :sorry: But overall it was a good story and well written.

I'm not reading that many right now, haha.

See, I can't do e-books. I am such a book nerd that I like the feel of them in my hands and the smell of them.

See? N-E-R-D. ;)

I am usually this way but e-books are sooo convenient for me. Any time I buy books they're never e-books they're all real books.

What genres do you like?

I am in such a weird spot in my life when it comes to reading right now. I do feel like overall, I enjoy fiction.

I wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter growing up, so I'm reading that now and anther fantasy book. I also am reading "Made to Crave" (I forget the author). :D

Same! I wasn't allowed either but I just read HP in 2018. I loveee those books. How are you liking them? I'm more into fantasy/ya/dystopia books than I've ever been. lol
I'm liking pretty much any Leigh Bardugo and some Marie Lu books.

So, my all-time favorite book is The Giver. Since you like dystopia kind of books, have you read that?

And, I do like them! I'm personally reading them just because I wasn't allowed and wanted to give them a chance and I'm glad I did :)

My friend is trying to push me to watch all the movies during this quarantine, though. He said they are the same as the books, but I just don't want spoilers. Haha. Have you seen all of them?

Hmm I've heard of it but have not read it. I will put it on my to read list and let you know when I've got it. :D

I'm glad you're enjoying them! They are so good. I have seen all of them (I own them, I just need to own the books now lol) and no spoilers but they are NOT the same as the books, lol. But they are still good nonetheless and I enjoy watching them and it's always fun for me to put a face to a character. It then makes reading the books again fun when you're picturing that actor - as long as you like the actor they've picked for the movie of course, lol.

Haha, awesome! I was worried that they were. I do have all the movies on my Vudu account :)

Do you usually watch movies before the books?

They're not terribly different but there are some differences. I'm sure just like all books turned into movies. But I would highly suggest reading all the books before watching the movies.

Not if I can help it, I usually do read the book before the movie but there are occasions where I've watched a movie and found out afterward that it's a book and end up reading it afterward.

What about you? Do you read the book or watch the movie first? And what are some of your favorite books that have been turned into movies?

I usually try to read the book before the movie.

I actually haven't found a movie that was better than the books :x

I liked The Giver, hated the movie.
I liked The BFG, hated the movie.

I do think, when I used to be into Hunger Games YEARS ago, I did think the movies were better than the books.

Went to the book store today and found a Michael Crichton book called, 'Sphere' sitting in the free bin. So I grabbed it and am starting it.
Is it about a circle? ;)

Tell us about it. How are you liking it so far?

Just started it. I wouldn't be able to tell you more than what the back of the book says about it. But I'll let you know as a progress.
