Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come on all the world, to try them that dwell on the earth.

Our meditation and our prayer needs to be to keep the word of the Lord’s patience. If the Lord had said keep my commandment that you love one another we would all have nodded. But He didn’t say that, so what is the word of His patience? We know that love is patient. But keeping this commandment to love, to love your enemies, not just with lip service but by lending to them knowing you won’t get anything back especially to be kind to the ungrateful and wicked, this takes patience. He told us that we were blessed when we were persecuted for the sake of righteousness and when we were insulted with false reports and all kinds of evil against you. This is a word of His patience. You could never be the church of brotherly love if you didn’t keep His word to forgive your brother 70 times 7 times. The Lord told us that there are two great commandments, to Love God with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves. The standard is to love as Jesus has loved us. It is a command, it is His word of patience that we must keep. The evidence that you love the Lord is that you obey Him. Jesus was the pioneer of our salvation, and He was made perfect through what he suffered. Because the church in Philadelphia kept His word of patience they too are made perfect through what they suffered. This is how He brings many sons and daughters to glory. If you love the Lord you will obey Him to take up your cross and follow Him to Golgotha. This is the word of His patience that the church in Philadelphia kept. They obeyed Him and He became the source of their salvation. This is how we become perfect. For us to be perfect as our heavenly father is perfect is also the word of His patience. We are weak, we know that, but there is no reason to fear that this will disqualify us. The Lord’s power is made perfect in weakness. The trial tests our faith in the Lord’s power, not ours. James 5:3 “ knowing that the trial of your faith works patience and let patience have her perfect work”, Peter 1:6-7 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

16 The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.
2 He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ 3 and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
The Lord’s death on the cross was a sign from heaven. But that sign has different meanings to different people. It meant that Jesus had been sacrificed for us as our Passover offering to make peace with God. It also meant that Satan, the flesh and the world had been judged. Either way the sky was red with the blood, but was Jesus death the end of your day? Did you weep and mourn while the world rejoiced? If so, be at peace, you will have fair weather in the age to come. Or was His death the beginning of your day, in which case you are walking according to the god of this age, and it will be a stormy age, full of blood. The Lord told us that if they persecuted Him they would persecute us also. He told us that the time is coming when anyone who kills us would think they were offering service to God. He told us that in this world we would have trouble. This is the word of His patience.
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.
This age began with Jesus being sacrificed as a burnt offering. When the bull is sacrificed as a burnt offering the blood is poured out under the altar. When this seal is opened we see under the altar, the blood of Jesus Christ are the martyrs who were killed because of the word of God and because of the testimony they maintained. This is what He told us, His death was a sign for us. This age is a bloody age, a stormy age, we will be persecuted, and killed.
10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been.
This is the Lord’s word of patience.
4 A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Jesus then left them and went away.

4 A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign
I find this observation very helpful. They aren't asking for a sign so that they could repent, believe and receive the Lord. They are asking for a sign so that they could profit. They want to know if the stock market will crash so they can short it, they want to know if the country they are a citizen of is about to defeated so they can switch to another country, the motive is wicked and adulterous. Even in this last crash it turns out that many billionaires have profited quite well. They are the antithesis of the "church of brotherly love". The world could collapse, millions could die, and their interest is how they can make a profit on that.

Shadows

Col 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

“These are a shadow” not were.

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Amplified version is “with the blasts of the trumpet call of God”
Complete Jewish Bible “and with God’s shofar”

The Feast of Trumpets is “is the entranceway into the ‘Days of Awe.’ The blasts of the shofar are our wake-up call to repent before it is too late. Even those of us who have received salvation need to be shaken out of our complacency and pushed to higher levels in Messiah” The Prophetic Nature of the Fall Feasts | Jewish Voice Ministries International

The Feast of Trumpets foreshadows this event. It kicks off the “days of awe” and it is a wake up call before it is too late.

This is a day of rest, it is a day to blow trumpets and offers sacrifices. The trumpet was sounded to indicate one of the following:

Time to pack up camp and move on, when the Israelites were traveling in the desert

Time to gather the people and call an assembly

To mark a sacrifice on a feast day

A warning of war or danger

To praise

To declare a procession or feast

Proclaiming a king

Assembling the troops for battle

To be used in battle

To declare victory

And

  • God’s power to raise the dead (1 Corinthians 15:52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16)

  • The proclamation of the gospel (Psalms 89:15)

  • The bold and faithful preaching of prophets (Isaiah 58:1, Hosea 8:1, Joel 2:1)

  • The latter day judgments (Revelation 8:2 and 13)
The Feast of Trumpets - ONE FOR ISRAEL Ministry

This is the Lord’s coming as a conquering king. It is a day of trumpets, these trumpets announce the soon arrival of the coming king and conclude with the voice of an archangel and the blast of God’s shofar, and the dead in Christ rise first, and then those of us who remain. Jesus said that He would return and when He did we would need to settle accounts with Him. This settling of accounts begins after this day. The feast of trumpets announces His return. It is also the resumption of Daniel’s prophecy of the 70 weeks. So then we will see Israel sign the peace treaty during this day and sacrifice the red heifer to dedicate the building of the third temple.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.

They are blowing the trumpet.

30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of Jehovah cometh. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and [k]among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.

These are the days of awe that follow the feast of Trumpets. The remnant are those who were awaken to repentance by the trumpet blasts and by the last great trumpet when the dead arose.

So then, how do we celebrate this feast of trumpets?

23 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest unto you, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 Ye shall do no servile work; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.

Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing of trumpets unto you. 2 And ye shall offer a burnt-offering for a sweet savor unto Jehovah: one young bullock, one ram, seven he-lambs a year old without blemish; 3 and their meal-offering, fine flour mingled with oil, three tenth parts for the bullock, two tenth parts for the ram, 4 and one tenth part for every lamb of the seven lambs; 5 and one he-goat for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you; 6 besides the burnt-offering of the new moon, and the meal-offering thereof, and the continual burnt-offering and the meal-offering thereof, and their drink-offerings, according unto their ordinance, for a sweet savor, an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.

On this day we do no servile work, we blow trumpets, and we make burnt offerings to the Lord.
