Oh, really? What breed of dog do you have, may I ask? (Sorry if I already have and just forgot, as I suddenly have a vague memory that I have asked you in the past when I typed that.) Curious since for me, while I do not own a pet myself, I was close to my mother's dog - a large mutt named Tallulah - during the few years I lived with her in Houston a short time ago, and Tallulah for some reason came to really like being given a bath by me (and ONLY me, it seems) where she was fully cooperative and still. She'd even sometimes head straight into the bathroom and hop into the tub on her own without me having to carry or lead her all the way. It almost became a ritual between us every two weeks or so, and even today when I go back to visit I perform this chore of bathing the dog in my mother's place ... because Tallulah apparently doesn't like for her to be the one to give her a bath at all. ^_^

So, just wondering what kind of dog you might have for the act of bathing him/her to be the "worst" chore of all in your eyes. ^_^
You are lucky. My girl is a jack russell chihuahua mix.. a lot of energy. Sweetheart. But when it is bath time she becomes a maniac. It is struggle to keep her in enough to get clean.. after that she runs around inside at max speed for the hour. Jumping off the furniture, jumping off of me.. it is exhausting.
I love her to death ^_^

Sorry but you are too late! I intend to ask @VMaeLove if she would like to share the tasks of servicing my car and washing her dog. I know she likes climbing mountains, so we will be able to have a lovely day out together when the chores are completed. I will put you on the reserve list in case VMaeLove can't make it.
Climb mountains and wash my dog on the same day?? I am not a super hero! :swoon:
Good weekend plan though :)

Sometimes we take things for granted. We tend to just hate things that other people wish they had or dismiss things that others would deem important. It's funny how life is this way... well people I mean.

Oh, you know I will. Maybe if I don't eat all of it....

We are kind of weird this way.

There are days I have to remind myself to be grateful for what I have right now, in this moment.

All the Salsa classes and socials are suspended. So I am learning new moves from YouTube.

This leader's fusion style is similar to my own, so I will be borrowing some of his moves.

I wish there was a function where you could see more than just 20 threads on the first page. Like for example on a website you can adjust it where it says "20 of 100" or "50 of 100" and you see more than just the default number. There have been a lot of good threads made lately and bumped as well that I don't want to see them get pushed to the second page because it seems like once it goes to the next page, no one really remembers to venture over there to check the replies. lol

*sigh* This guy ... My boss (most unfortunately), who everyone calls Nel as an insulting term, informs us yesterday that someone on our very site has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

And yet with the virus being this close to home, he preaches social distancing between all of us in the lab while we work - namely trying to stay six feet apart - yet insists on still having the early morning meetings about safety every single day he is there where eight to ten of us are crowded in a 15 by 20ft. room for fifteen minutes at a time.

THAT. IS. NOT. SMART.

I don't mind the parts of these meetings that involve discussing a certain safety topic and keeping us all on our toes. In fact, I think it's a very good idea that should pretty much be a part of every work environment. It's just that it shouldn't be that important to keep doing during a critical time like this with the pandemic, if it means crowding a good number of people together in a relatively small space, and the other parts involved with these morning meetings is an utter waste of time regardless, where we lab techs each just regurgitate information about what's been going on in each of the plant areas that morning that Nel likely already knows about anyway; we just have to keep doing it right now because Nel cares about it (and absolutely no one else).

Like, in a typical work day around the lab, the entire building is big enough to where just two or three people will very rarely be working side by side for more than a few moments at a time, and that's only when the procedures each of us do in regards to the plant areas we specifically take care of even cross, to where we'll have to operate the exact same instrument. So social distancing in the lab itself is not difficult to do, and our work right now is actually helping in the fight against COVID-19 spread right now, so I think it is important enough what we lab techs and everyone else at Albemarle are doing right now to take that slight elevated risk right now by not staying home. But for these stupid meetings that only Nel doesn't think is a complete waste of everyone's time to continue, where everyone in the lab building - five techs and three to five other employees like the chemists and the manager himself - crowds in the same room for around fifteen minutes every weekday morning? NO. That is a ridiculously foolish risk we're taking for practically nothing.

Someone at our very site has been infected, and still he insists on these group gatherings. Why? Because he knows everyone practically hates doing it, but him.

I wonder if I should bring this up to the manager of the entire plant. Because every other area at work is trying to do something to help stay safe in spite of the circumstances, eliminating close contact where possible without compromising safety in other ways. He might stop this madness, but, I worry that on the severe off-chance he actually likes Nel and will defend him when I bring up my ... rather intense ... concerns, or that somehow my complaint will not remain anonymous.

TBH I think you should pray about it and quite possibly tell your manager, they may be unaware of what he's doing. They could think he's doing something completely different.

If the worst happens and say "Nel" does find out you talked to your manager about him, then I mean, I think it would be rather immature of your manager to think it was a bad thing what you're doing. This is a serious illness going around and what your boss is doing is unhelpful.

I understand though the sticky situation you're in. But he's putting you all in danger, ultimately.

Thanks, Jennie. :)

In the meantime I have decided to stay out of the break room where these meetings occur if at all possible while others are in there during the hour they choose to take a break, and that during these meetings, I will not sit in one of the chairs around the table where the people sitting there are only two to three feet apart from each other. Don't care if I have to stay at the back of the room at a better distance just leaning against the counter in a slightly uncomfortable position all the while that the meeting is going on. And if I do have to sit in one of the chairs for anything, that thing is getting sprayed and wiped down with disinfectant first. Thankfully at least the lab planning guy Bob was wise enough to foresee and stockpile a whole lot of Lysol spray for us when all the "panic buying" first started happening, so there is basically a bottle of disinfectant in every room of the lab building, readily available for just such things.

How many people work there? Or to put it another way, if you send an anonymous letter to the plant manager, what's the chance they'll guess it was you?

Have you heard of Scott Adams? He writes a cartoon called Dilbert. It's about absurd work practices. Management are frequently the butt of his jokes.

Dilbert used to give me nightmares as a kid. Back in 1996 I had a very scary dream about him.

I would be curious to know as to the nature of this dream that could possibly make Dilbert seem so scary or be the subject of a nightmare (but I think it would be unwise to ask in case explaining it might just bring bad memories fresh to mind), but ... I guess it's possible with anything, really. After all, my worst nightmare ever as a child, as silly as it might seem now, was due to a random scene in an 80's comedy film, of all things, where the students were just acting dumb playing a practical joke on their substitute teacher and simultaneously showing off their shared love of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Can't remember much.. it was just a chaotic dream. Even without him in it, it wasn't pleasant. Even now, I don't like the way he looks. But I don't like freak out about it or anything, lol. Even watched his cartoon during my teenage years.

I remember being in best buy or something as a kid.. and seeing Dilbert somewhere. I think I was surprised that he existed in the real world (in a fictional form) because I thought it was just from my dream. I told my father "that's a bad man.." and my father was like "what?" "There is no reason to be afraid of him..". Lol.

Or to put it another way, if you send an anonymous letter to the plant manager, what's the chance they'll guess it was you?

I don't know what the odds could be, as, as far as I can tell, Nel has little to no idea that I inwardly hold disdain for him, and I have gotten almost entirely high scores on both employee reviews I have received since my time there, where he seems to comment in particular that I actually have a high regard for safety. A couple of other employees have made it not so secret as I have that they don't like him (and I mean, sorry, but, he does and says seemingly everything he can to be unliked - shoot, he even flat out told us with pride during a meeting the other of how anti-social he is - as in not being likeable to other people, not simply being introverted and quiet - so it's pretty deserved, you know?), so they might be suspected before I would if Nel learns that a letter was sent above his head to the plant manager. But still, I just am reluctant to cause any trouble in general, you know? And I guess I also fear that there is a sort of karma that will come back around to me where all the little mistakes I have made - and prayed to God that they would never be found out by guys like Nel, regardless of whether they truly are a big deal or not, just so that I don't have to hear from Nel or anyone else who might gripe me out for it - will come to light and cause me all sorts of trouble, because I chose to complain about someone else's mistake, even if it is true that what Nel is insisting on doing is a blatant, intentional disregard for safety and not just a matter of simply not thinking or focusing in the moment like my cases of making mistakes would be.

But yeah, there is someone in a higher position than me in the lab who I can trust - because he definitely does not like Nel - to ask whether he thinks it will be worth sending a note to the plant manager. I know Anthony would never rat me out to Nel or anyone else who might let it slip by accident in front of him, so maybe I will try to ask Anthony first. He would know way better than me as to whether this could work or not, seeing as he's been there for twenty years.
