President Donald Trump’s erratic handling of the coronavirus outbreak, the worsening economy and a cascade of ominous public and private polling have Republicans increasingly nervous that they are at risk of losing the presidency and the Senate if Trump does not put the nation on a radically improved course.

I have come to the view in recent days that Biden will probably win by enough of a margin to switch the Senate to the Dems. For the good of the Party, Trump could announce that he will not run again. If the Party would nominate Gov. Hogan, they might have a chance of winning.

I don't believe this has any chance of happening.

When will Christians learn/realize that politics has nothing to do with "The Body of Christ"? I pray one day they will know the truth.
Be blessed and stay healthy!

I've come to the conclusion that the news outlets are nearly 100% bias and equally unreliable. So pretty much I'm not listening to them and in particular on politics. I'll go vote and the result will be what it is,like last time. And then the spin will run for weeks on end if not years about how the winner never won LOL LOL !!

Where exactly are these 'nervous' Republicans? I'm not seeing any, but hearing about them being nervous, scared etc. Just can't seem to find any

Him being in the only office in the land where he cannot be prosecuted (for criming) only while holding the office seem to preclude him leaving it voluntarily, yes.

I just can't see the willfully ignorant being nervous about anything.

People say the media is biased. No doubt that is true to some extent. But the man is a trainwreck on his own. He is worse than unqualified, worse than incompetent: he seems to almost revel in public self-destruction. Many a Phd thesis will be written in the future about the forces that conspired to deposit a clown into the most powerful office in the world. Let's hope enough Americans have the sense to end this travesty in November.

You may well be right and so says a friend of mine. However, if the President's poll numbers continue to decline, he might decide to call it quits, rather than take the chance of losing in a big way. While not likely, anything is possible.

Those are the same polls that predicted a Hillary Clinton win back in 2016, right? I don't lend the polls, or the media any credence whatsoever.

Well not may stories come from Yahoo news that support anything Trump does.... so .. I don't know what they are going on about. I don't see it read it anywhere else. God has his back.. Yes.. I believe God put what we needed.. not wanted.. what would work.

Nixon was within a semi-normal range of behavior. When he understood (because his own party told him) he was about to be ousted, he took it seriously and resigned.

Clinton could have resigned if things had gone a little differently.

But, regardless of politics and personalities...this is not someone who will EVER resign or refuse to run again. Your post says it all: he could refuse to run again for the good of the party. He doesn't care about the party.

Unfortunately, perfectly true. The "mainstream" media were blindsided in 2016. Some people (who didn't support Trump) predicted it, but the main news sources were far off base.

No. These are the same polls that predicted that Hillary Clinton would win the national popular vote, which she did. To the best of my knowledge no polls were granular enough to predict the electoral college results.

Democrats raised substantially more money than Republicans did in the first quarter in the most pivotal congressional races, according to recent campaign finance reports.

Trump campaign, GOP raise $212 million in first quarter

Who's winning — and losing — the great 2020 money chase. 26 million

The Trump campaign, the RNC and its joint authorizing committee have now raised more than $677 million since 2017, which the campaign says is funding the largest "field program and data operation" in the GOP's history.

If Trump takes some Republican senators with him, it's their own fault for blindly supporting him. Good riddance. These are the same kind of people I keep hoping Trump will ask to serve in cabinet positions, so he can fire them in a few months.

However, if the President's poll numbers continue to decline, he might decide to call it quits, rather than take the chance of losing in a big way. While not likely, anything is possible.

This is Trump we're talking about. He can't believe he's unpopular, and he'll assume any low poll numbers have been fabricated by the fake news networks. He thrives on attention, so he won't quit. I mean, sure, anything is possible, Biden could be taken out by a meteor, but the likelihood is so low that I wouldn't worry about it.
