'On day as the crowds were gathering. He' (Jesus) 'went up the hillside with His Disciples and sat down and taught them there' (Matthew 5:1) I love the 'Sermon On The Mount'. Do you? Are the standards of the 'Sermon On The Mount' attainable? Are they possible to fulfill?

It was meant to be the standard when Jesus sits on David's throne in Jerusalem, so only during the millennial reign of Jesus, will it be possible for us to fulfill it.

Matthew 5:3

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Qualities of "poor in spirit:"

Teachable, admitting their strengths and weaknesses
humble, not thinking that they are better than others,
willing to trust God completely,
receptive, realizing the need to daily look to God for any and every answer

That's a tough one in some respects, then again, isn't. For if we are walking in truth and are decades deep in that hopeful press for Christ, one could be tempted to discredit Christ's work within him who is of maturity wherein we all should digress,

Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud, but be willing to
associate with people of low position.
Do not be conceited.

(Romans 12:16)

Jesus in His Sermon On The Mount started with the Beatitudes (Attitudes to be) Marking eight Christian qualities of character. He goes on to speak of Salt and Light influencing the world and righteousness and true holiness,Godly aspirations and relationships and our commitment to Him. Jesus set the standards high! He introduced another life style to the one lived by the non believer. The Sermon On the Mount is practiced by those who have been born again and are part of the Kingdom family of God. It comes from the inner righteousness of a heart changed and right with God. Men by nature are sinful and evil things come from the heart. But good things come from the born anew heart! New birth is essential We will by the grace of God aspire to the new manifesto Jesus gave!

We fall short of the law,no matter how good we are! If it were not for the grace of God we would all be short of eyes and limbs! We live in His gtace,where there is forgiveness and cleansing and enabling to live as we should!
