The Sabbath is the 'Lords Day', not Sunday.

Hello, I agree with your posts, unfortunately many people have their mind made up. It's sad when we choose to follow tradition rather than the actual spoken word. We can go around asking people of ither faiths to show us in scripture where they can justify their beliefs, but get defensive when it's asked of us. We have to make a decision, I'd the pastor we listen to cannot show us in scripture what he is preaching on do we still follow? The Word says the road to destruction is wide, but the road to Salvation is narrow and only a FEW will find it. There's a hint, we have to be looking and there won't be many. But we need to Follow what is written not man's view point of it. The bible is a whole book not 2 different ones. Our heavenly Father doesn't change. The only difference is the plan was revealed when Messiah came.
As they say, the Old Testament is God's will concealed; the New is His will revealed... Jesus Christ is Lord

I had a person tell me, I know its in the Bible, its written down that Sunday is the 'Lords Day', and I am still waiting for him to find the verse.
Don’t hold your breath. :)

There have been passages that people told me they would show me and on some I have been waiting since the 1960s.

Jesus rose from the dead on the First Day of the week
Amen! Matthew 28:1 - Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Which has NOTHING to do with The Sabbath or “Lord’s Day.”

It has everything to do with Sunday and not Saturday being the Lord’s Day. - The Lord's Day - Revelation 1:10 ... The First Day!
Yes, Our Lord resurrected on Yom HaBikkurim, the day after the sabbath - first day of the week during Passover.

However, there is NOTHING in the text to tie Rev 1.10 “Lords Day” to any particular day of the week.

And there is no scripture anywhere saying to have a “sacred convocation” on that “Lord’s Day.”

If they would just think about it. The Sabbath was sacredly observed by John on the island of Patmos as when he was preaching to the people in the towns and cities of Judea. He was a Sabbath keeper, and that did not change even after the resurrection. Sunday worship was not even remotely a part of his life much less ministry as it wasn't even in the church, it was the Sabbath.

No where in Scripture (or the OP) is the Sabbath referred to as "the Lord's day". Considering that the use of the word 'sabbath' was still commonplace during the NT era, John would have used the term 'sabbath' if that's what he ment in Rev 1:10. Considering Christians were already in the habit of meeting on a Sunday (Acts 20:7, 1 Cor 16:2), and since John's intended audience was the first century Christians, it is much more logical to assume to he ment Sunday when referring to "the Lord's day".

I had a person tell me, I know its in the Bible, its written down that Sunday is the 'Lords Day', and I am still waiting for him to find the verse.
It isn't in there. Neither is there a verse that refers to the Sabbath as the "Lord's day". That argument works both ways. Even in your OP, none of the verse say that the sabbath is the 'Lord's day'.

It is clear for those who want to see...
Isaiah 58:13
"If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:"

We need to see what truth is, or suffer the blindness of the Pharisees that Jesus warned about:
John 9:39-41 King James Version (KJV)

"39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth."

Here is from my buddy Amo..."Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

It is the sabbath of the Lord thy God, not Moses' sabbath, or the Jews sabbath, or anyone Else's sabbath.

Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

The same.

Deuteronomy 5:12-12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. 13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: 14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

The same.

Exodus 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

Leviticus 19:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. 3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 19:30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 26:2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

Isaiah 56:4 For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

Ezekiel 20:112 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Ezekiel 20:16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

Ezekiel 20:19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God. 21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. 23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; 24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

Ezekiel 22:8 Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Ezekiel 23:38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

The Lord claims the sabbath as His very own. It is a day, therefore it is literally, the Lord's day. This is not rocket science. How many times must the Lord call the sabbath His day for you to understand that there is only one day in the scriptures that would be referred to as the Lord's day? Other than the seventh day sabbath, the Lord's day can also refer to the day on which He will return to this earth. That is all. Sunday, or the first day of the week is never referred to as the Lord's day in the scriptures.

This title was only applied to Sunday later on. It was applied by those who began the apostasy which would later become the church of Rome. That abomination which was the result of the amalgamation of apostate Christianity and pagan sun worship.

These are they which separated thenselves from the vine by their abominable teachings and doctrines. Salvation is of the Jews. True Christians are those who have been graffed into the vine, not those who have separated themselves from the same. Jesus was a Jew, all the Apostles were Jewish, all the first "Christians were Jews. Those Jews which accepted Christ as the Messiah became the Israel of God. Those Jews that rejected Him, are no longer the Israel of God. Now all who accept Christ as their personal Savior are the Israel of God. They are the children of promise, the seed of Abraham, the true stock of Israel, and all Israel shall be saved. It is time for all Israel to come out of Babylon by forsaking her abominable teachings and doctrines, for the Lord is returning soon.

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

And more...'Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

The above is the only verse in the entire new testament that the term Lord's day is used. How can Sunday the first day of the week be scripturally, the Lord's day, when no scripture anywhere in the new testament identifies it as such? As a matter of fact, the first day is always and only referred to as just that, the first day throughout the new testament scriptures. This fact obviously contradicts your statement.

Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. 10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

John 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. 8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

1 Cor 16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Every instance in which the first day of the week is mentioned in the new testament scriptures, it is simply referred to as the first day of the week, and not the Lord's day. Therefore, scripturally, the first day of the week is simply the first day of the week, not the Lord's day. The term used in the book of Revelation must therefore refer to something else, rather than the first day of the week....

It isn't in there. Neither is there a verse that refers to the Sabbath as the "Lord's day". That argument works both ways. Even in your OP, none of the verse say that the sabbath is the 'Lord's day'.

Genesis 2;2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Who set the seventh day aside and both blessed and sanctified it? Our Creator.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Who is John referring to? Jesus, our Creator, Lord, and Master.

Exodus 3;2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
............................................
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Who spoke to Moses out of the burning bush? The great I AM. Who also told Moses to tell the children of Israel that the I AM had sent him to them? Jesus. So who delivered the 10 Commandments to Moses and the children of Israel? Jesus the I AM according to His own testimony. He is also our Creator that created the Sabbath as a memorial to His work of Creation. What did He say about His own Sabbath?
Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Mark is here testifying that Jesus, i.e. the Son of man, said He was Lord also of the Sabbath.

He is our Lord and Master for so the disciples testified of Him. So the Sabbath is "the Lord's day" for He set it aside, blessed it, and sanctified it as a memorial to His work of creation. And in the NT His disciples testified that He is Lord of the Sabbath.

So what day is the "Lord's day"? Clearly according to the Bible it is the seventh day of the week, the Sabbath of the Bible.

So what day is the "Lord's day"?
Isaiah 13:6 NCV
Cry, because the Lord’s day of judging is near; the Almighty is sending destruction.

Joel 1:15 NCV
What a terrible day it will be! The Lord’s day of judging is near, when punishment will come like a destroying attack from the Almighty.

Joel 2:1 NCV
Blow the trumpet in Jerusalem; shout a warning on my holy mountain. Let all the people who live in the land shake with fear, because the Lord’s day of judging is coming; it is near.

Joel 2:11 NCV
The Lord shouts out orders to his army. His army is very large! Those who obey him are very strong! The Lord’s day of judging is an overwhelming and terrible day. No one can stand up against it!

Joel 3:14 NCV
There are huge numbers of people in the Valley of Decision, because the Lord’s day of judging is near in the Valley of Decision.

I don't have an issue with what you're pointing out, Dave, because God is going to have a future day of judgment, and has often had days in the past where He meted out judgment to Israel/Judah for their idolatry and wickedness. But, you'll have to present your evidence that John was living on a judgment day there on Patmos when he was given his visions. He saw judgment take place in vision, but his visions were of future events, not what he was experiencing at the moment. That isn't indicated at all by the context of Revelation as it is a book of prophecy.
