Who says I'm angry? I'm not even disappointed.
I can't describe your posts to me as nice. But perhaps the printed words are hard to convey a nice attitude. But your signature looks to definitely not be inviting.
Do you get that a lot?
No. I've had pleasant conversations with atheists who clearly knew that I am a Christian.
If you didn't identify as Christian... would you have said this?
What?.. talk about secular ways to stay calm? And yes, if I didn't identify as a Christian but a secular person giving secular advice I probably would have pointed out that you come across as angry.

Just a note - it looks like if you OWED money on the last tax return you filed, they can't do direct deposit even if you paid electronically.

But you can set up direct deposit at Get My Payment | Internal Revenue Service by providing some info from your last return and your banking information.

The weird thing is that you have to have filed your 2019 return which is now not due until 07/15. Makes no sense. But that's our gov at work!

....what's next? Trump on the 100 Dollar Bill?

The Treasury Department has ordered President Trump’s name printed on stimulus checks the Internal Revenue Service is rushing to send to tens of millions of Americans, a process that could slow their delivery by a few days, senior IRS officials said.

The unprecedented decision, finalized late Monday, means that when recipients open the $1,200 paper checks the IRS is scheduled to begin sending to 70 million Americans in coming days, “President Donald J. Trump” will appear on the left side of the payment.

Fake news. And I'm not saying it lightly. Here's the paragraph:

Trump had privately suggested to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who oversees the IRS, that he allow the president to formally sign the checks, according to three administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

He allegedly asked to sign the checks, but we don't really know since this is sheer gossip. Interesting but not surprising their story twisted what the so-called "officials" claimed Trump said. Asking to sign the checks vs. asking to have his name put on them is not the same thing. In the end, does it really matter if his name is on it?

I can't describe your posts to me as nice. But perhaps the printed words are hard to convey a nice attitude.

Looking back on both sides of our conversation, I can find instances where both of us were perhaps less than cordial.

Rather than point fingers and get into who said what and what was meant, let's agree that we got off on the wrong foot and start over.

But your signature looks to definitely not be inviting.

It is merely a statement, in no uncertain terms, of one of my guiding moral principles: "ignorance is the root of all evil" -- with several examples illustrating why it is so.

You can see that, to such a person who believe in that, "ignorance is bliss" would not be received well in either a secular or religious context.

No. I've had pleasant conversations with atheists who clearly knew that I am a Christian.

And I have had pleasant conversations with Christians who clearly knew that I am an Agnostic... including many friends on these very forums.

Clearly the problem lies elsewhere.

What?.. talk about secular ways to stay calm? And yes, if I didn't identify as a Christian but a secular person giving secular advice I probably would have pointed out that you come across as angry.

I was referring more along the lines of "All that you have is sour grapes. How delightful to people that you know." which I took as a personal insult, and right after you chose to play the martyr card, claiming that it was your faith, and not your words, that were the source of the friction...

...but forgive me, I did say that I didn't want to get into the whole "who said what" thing, as that rarely leads to any kind of productive discussion.

Anyway, back to business: You mentioned that there were some Democrats who were switching to R because of their support of Donald -- which is true in scattered cases, but it doesn't take into account the far larger number of Republicans who, due to either political disappointment or personal disgust, are turning away from Donald.

In terms of defecting to the other side of the aisle, I'd think that Donald is operating at a net loss... don't you?

This latest stunt of his -- demanding his own name printed on the stimulus checks -- and now denying any knowledge of the change which he himself insisted on, is, relatively speaking, a minor issue illustrating one of his defining character flaws -- his ego.

Far more insidious and characteristic of megalomania (another one of his numerous unsavory personality traits) is his recently publicized threat to adjourn Congress so that he can operate utterly unchecked, but since 1. Another thread has already been started on that topic, and 2. He hasn't a snowball's chance in Hades of following through on it, we need not go into it here.

So if democrats cash the check, will they admit that Trump is their POTUS? Wouldn't he at least be their sugardaddy?

Is he yours?

Are you under the impression that Donald's name on the check in any way implies that it's his money?

More straining at gnats. Who cares.
I don't, but I do recall quite a few conservatives - maybe not you, can't remember - complaining when the democrats took a few extra days to negotiate the stimulus. Lots of complaining about how they were delaying the process, how time was of the essence, how we couldn't afford any delays for those precious.

I do find it a tad strange that the delays those negotiations caused we're such a big deal to conservatives, but delays caused just to put a name on the check - which makes no difference to anything - are just fine and dandy. Now, any delay to those oh-so important checks, which couldn't come out fast enough a few weeks ago, are just...straining at gnats.

We'll know soon enough when the checks arrive.

And yes it does matter. No President's name has ever appeared on the check. The checks are from the US Treasury funded by us, the taxpayers.

And yet another example of our country being led by a 73-year-old man with the intellectual speech level of a fourth-grader. It's embarrassing to have a man like him representing America to the rest of the world. It's honestly not surprising that he's mocked and laughed at by other world leaders.

Maybe you're right. I didn't see this tweet upon further review of his recent tweets and I didn't find it in his deleted tweets database, Factbase: Donald Trump - Deleted Tweets, either. I'll concede that the tweet might not be from him, but it certainly sounds like his usual incoherent babbling though.

Branding
the United States does it all the time.
M

The last time I checked, we live in the United States of America, not the United States of Donald J. Trump. I'm sure that I'm not the only American who wants Trump to keep his branding to himself.

I believe we were upset primarily over the fact what the Democrats wanted to add to the stimulous. And a great deal of us thought the massive spending was not necessary and wad going to do more harm in the long run. As opposed to you guys who all bent out of shape for just seeing his name which harms no one.
