Well that is all counter-intuitive to me. So how would these symbolic priests and symbolic sacrifices fit in with that?

And what about the covenant with the Levites?

(CLV) Jer 33:20
Thus says Yahweh: If you could annul My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night so that daytime and night fail to come about in their proper time,

(CLV) Jer 33:21
then also My covenant could be annulled with David My servant, so that he should not come to have a son reigning on his throne, and that with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.

Is it symbolically a promise to the Levites; or has the promise ended because there is no day and night? I don't know if this sounds as weird to you as it does to me; but it's a serious question.

What about the nations coming for Sukkot?

(CLV) Zch 14:19
This shall be the sin of Egypt, and the sin of all the nations which will not go up to celebrate the festival of booths.

How does all this fit together in your understanding?

I might have to walk away from this thread. It seems that I need to reach an understanding of whether or not there will be an earthly kingdom, before I even get to the question in the title.

****

There was an earthly temple ... and there are all kinds of historical things (actual events) that happened .... that is history .... it's not at all to be discounted - it's to be learned from .... but it also is not necessarily future ... although of course there are prophesies in the OT yet to be fulfilled.

Everything is fulfilled by ... in ... and/or through Christ. If we are in Him .... he gives us as a gift ALL that He did.

here are a few things to consider ....

The Holy Place or first apartment contained certain pieces of furniture (Hebrews 9:1, 2):

a) Golden candlestick (Exodus 25:31-40) represented the work of the Holy Spirit and the light of life manifested through God's church (John 8:12; 1:9; Revelation 1:13, 20).

b) Table of shewbread (Exodus 25:23-30) represented Jesus as the bread of life (John 6:51, 33).

c) Altar of incense (Exodus 30:1-7) represented the continual fragrance of Jesus’ intercession (Revelation 8:3, 4; Hebrews 7:25), which mingled with the prayers of the saints.

The Most Holy Place (Holiest) or second apartment also contained special furniture (Hebrews 9:3-5), however only the High Priest officiated in this apartment. There was the

Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:10-22), which contained:

1. Two tables of stone on which God Himself had written the Ten Commandments (Deuteronomy 10:4, 5).

2. Mercy Seat (Exodus 25:17-21), which symbolizes the mingling of God’s mercy with His justice.

The Services and Ministration of the Sanctuary:

The Daily Services (reference Leviticus chapter 4).

The daily services were administered in the first apartment (Holy Place) of the Sanctuary. These services pointed the sinner to the Sacrifice of the promised Redeemer at Calvary. (The same as the altar and sacrifices of Adam’s day.)

1. The common priest performed the daily services (Hebrews 9:6).

2. The sinner was required to bring a sin offering of an innocent, young, unblemished animal (Leviticus 4:3, 22, 28).

3. The sinner laid his hands on the head of the animal confessing his sin showing the transferring of his sin to the innocent sin-bearer.

4. The sinner personally killed the animal in the courtyard. The priest look the blood, and then, depending on the situation either:

a) sprinkled some blood on the horns of the altar of the burnt offering in the courtyard and poured the remaining blood at the base of the altar (Leviticus 4:7); or

b) sprinkled the blood in the first apartment (Leviticus 6:30); or

c) the priest ate a portion of the offering then entered the first apartment (Leviticus 10:17, 18).

Each application symbolized the transferal of the sins from the sinner to the sacrifice, the sacrifice to the priest, and then the priest transferred the sin to the sanctuary. Thus the sinner was pardoned by the blood sacrificed in his behalf. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Leviticus 17:11.

However, the lessons from these services were the same. Although “the wages of sin is death,” God has provided a lamb to take away the sins of the world. This is similar to the prophetic words of Abraham, spoken when Isaac noticed they had no lamb for the burnt offering. He answered “. . . God will provide himself a lamb. . . ” Genesis 22:8.

From the inauguration of the services, Israel knew that the sanctuary symbols pointed forward to the fulfilment of God’s promise. But the Jewish nation through self security and pride, lost the significance of the beautiful ceremonies and gradually the ceremonies became a mere form. How sad, for when the temple curtain was “rent in twain” (Matthew 27:50, 51) from top to bottom, the Jewish nation did not comprehend that “the law of ceremonies was done away with,” and that the prophesied reality of Christ’s crucifixion had fulfilled the symbols. Rejecting the true Passover lamb, Israel was unaware that the services of the earthly sanctuary were now at an end and were to be continued by Jesus, not only as a perfect sacrifice, but as our high Priest in the heavenly temple. The "Shadow" (earthly sanctuary) had met the True (heavenly sanctuary)

The jewish "clergy" got so wrapped up in "works & ceremonies" they lost sight of the heavenly meaning that was contained within it .... pointing to Jesus the sacrificial Lamb to come.

Let us not repeat history and return to the earthly sanctuary .... look to the TRUE one .... the one in heaven.

Jesus is on every page of the bible. It's all about Him.

May the Lord lead you and all of us through our journey with Him. God Bless and Amen.

Millenial sacrifices will simply be symbolic.

Ezekiel 45
15 And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make reconciliation for them, saith the Lord God.
17 And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Ezekiel 46
20 Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, where they shall bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, to sanctify the people.

Ezekiel's sacrifices are not symbolic. They are not memorials.

They are expiatory.

Will the Lamb of God serve as master butcher in the temple abattoir?

It is impossible to conceive of a greater abomination.

Will there be sacrifices in the new Temple?
When the Lord’s righteous people go to live in all of the Holy Land, soon after it is cleared and cleansed by the Lord’s Day of fiery wrath, Ezekiel 34:11-31, they will build a new Temple in Jerusalem, according to the details given in Ezekiel 40-46
Many Old Testament prophesies attest to this, how it will be built by men from far away, Zechariah 6:15, and it will be greater than the former ones. Haggai 2:9

The New Testament too, makes it clear there will be a Temple, 2 Thess. 2:4, Rev. 11:1-2, that will exist until the end of the Millennium, when God Himself will be the Temple. Revelation 21:22

We are told that during this age of Church dispensation, Christ is our high priest and we are the spiritual Temple, 2 Cor. 6:16 and no sacrifices are required. Hosea 9:4

Hebrews 9 & 10:1-21 are the scriptures that clearly tell us that Jesus made the once and forever sacrifice for the expiation of our sins. Now there is no Temple and Christians are His ‘body’ on earth. This is just for the time from the early church until the new Temple is built, when there will again be offerings and thanksgiving gifts made by the Lord’s holy people. Isaiah 56:1-8, Daniel 12:1, Revelation 7:9-14

Daniel 7:25 and Daniel 9:26-27 tells us how, in the last days, an invading leader will make a peace treaty with the holy people, but will break it and put a stop to the sacrifices and offerings. Obviously there will be sacrifices and offerings taking place, for him to stop them.

This is confirmed by the prophesies detailing how it will be during the period the righteous people of God will be living the Land before the Return of Jesus:

Psalm 51:18-19 Now Lord, show Your favor to Zion and rebuild Jerusalem. Then You will delight in the appointed sacrifices, young bulls will be offered in Your altar.

Jeremiah 17:24-26 Now, if you obey the Lord’s Commandments, then a ruler will again occupy David’s throne and Jerusalem will be inhabited forever. Then people will come bringing whole offerings, sacrifices as thank offerings to the Lord’s House.

Jeremiah 33:14-18 The days are coming when I shall bless Judah and Israel…….there will always be a Levitical Priest to burn the grain and other offerings every day.

Ezekiel 45:13-25 The details of and the dates for making all the sacrifices and offerings on the Altar of the Temple.

Zechariah 14:21…all who come to make sacrifice will use the holy pots in Jerusalem to boil the flesh of the sacrifice……

Isaiah 60:6-7 Livestock in droves will be in the Land to serve your needs, as acceptable offerings on My Altar and I will adorn My glorious Temple.

The context of these scriptures proves that all this will be for the last days’ period before the Return of Jesus. What will happen during the Millennium isn’t told to us, although there will be priest’s then. Revelation 20:6
But we know there will be no Temple in Eternity. Revelation 21:22

There is only 1 first resurrection. That was Christ's.

Exactamundo!
And what a blessing to find this area of absolute agreement with you :)

You can't have a "First resurrection" that isn't actually "First".

However, The First Resurrection is not something Jesus does, or was, it's something Jesus IS.

"I am the resurrection and the Life"

Jesus Christ is the First Resurrection, and on those that take part in it, the 2nd death has no power.

Jesus Christ was the first to rise out of the dead. Jesus was, literally, the "first resurrection." This fact, well attested by the writings of the New Testament, MUST form the basis for understanding Revelation 20:5-6:

"This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power" (Revelation 20:5-6)

The first resurrection was Jesus Christ:

Revelation 1:5

Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the first-born out of the dead Acts 26:23
Christ should suffer and...be the first that should rise from the dead

Colossians 1:18
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead

1 Corinthians 15:20
Christ hath risen out of the dead--the first-fruits of those sleeping he became

Jesus Christ was, plainly, the first resurrection. This fact forms the basis of St. John's depiction of the tribulation martyr saints becoming full partakers of the "first resurrection" in Revelation 20--everything Christ received by his death and resurrection is granted to them. Revelation 20:4-6, therefore, depicts the reality of Pauline theology concerning the identity Christ's followers had "in Him." Paul had taught that the saints were to become partakers of Christ's own reign and victory over death. Paul, with his detailed theology of our baptism into the very death and resurrection of Jesus (Rom 6:3-14), taught that the saints had co-resurrection and co-enthronement in the realized resurrection and enthronement of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:4-6 is a narrative depiction of the saints' realization of the glorious promise Paul held out for them in his teachings--the saints are depicted as having attained the goal for which they all strove. As Paul taught, their resurrection and reign was "in Christ," and their sufferings and martyrdoms were honored by God with the reward of partaking in Christ's own resurrection, enthronement, and reign. They realized the promise of Paul's teaching that the saints were truly to take part in the first resurrection, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Truly, on these the second death has no power (Rev 20:6).

I think most christian premillenialists that I know of don't look the reinstitution of jewish sacrifice as blasphemy, most view it as a symbolic action. After all Jesus himself will be on the throne of david as prophecied. I don't think they will go into the temple where Jesus is and try to sacrifice another atonement offering. There is only one atonement now, it's Christ's blood. Rather God is keeping his promise that the temple will be rebuilt and fully functional, and that involves the sacrifices. But just as you can burn incense and it can be a sweet smelling aroma, so too sacrifice is a pleasing thing to God. Especially when done by His people, and in a manner prescribed in the Bible.

Ezekiel's sacrifices are not symbolic. They are not memorials.

They are expiatory.

This is an important point jgr makes. The sacrificial system is, by definition, expiatory. Those Premils who suggest ‘memorial’ sacrifices find themselves with a dilemma, even when trying to be reasonable.

The simple fact remains, that any kind of return to animal sacrifice contradicts Christs final sacrifice, and is an insult to the Holy Spirit. It is a serious blasphemy!

Guesswork and bald opinion, does not cut it.
The dead in Christ are not raised until after the Millennium. You contradict Revelation 20:11-15, in thinking any of the dead, other than the trib martyrs, Revelation 20:4, will be raised before the GWT Judgment.

Exactly! It began at the one-and-only first resurrection (Christ's). When Christ conquered sin, death and Hades, the elect were raised in spirit to reign with Him. Anything after that would be the second resurrection, that occurs at the second coming.

What is serious error, is to ignore plain scriptures like Isaiah 56:1-8 and Ezekiel 20:40-41, +, that say how the people of God, as they live in the holy Land, WILL once again make offerings and sacrifices in the new Temple.
None of us knows the Mind of God, we cannot make categorical statements like; 'its an insult to the holy Spirit'. Was the holy Spirit insulted in ancient times, by the sacrifices then?

Absolutely! Where does Ezekiel 40-48 remotely intimate that these are memorial sacrifices? This is a classic case of Premils forcing something into the sacred text that does not exist. They do that repeatedly with their supposed future thousand years. It is unknown throughout the Scriptures apart from the symbolic representation of it in the highly figurative Revelation 20, 3 chapters before the end of the Bible.

Of course he can! It is an impossible task at times to get Premils to move out of the OT and turn their back on the old covenant. But the NT forbids Premil. Please read the following texts slowly. Premils say there are multiple more sin offerings in the future. The NT says the opposite.

John 1:29 records: “John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Hebrews 9:26 confirms: “now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”

1 John 3:5 confirms: “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”

Hebrews 10:18 says, there is no more offering for sin.”

Hebrews 10:26 says, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.”

New Testament Scripture says there are no more offerings for sin. You say there are. Who do we go with? Amils and Postmils choose Jesus over your flawed opinions.

The cross does not seem adequate, satisfactory and final enough for Premillennialism. It needs to promote the reinstitution of multiple additional sin offerings to atone for the sins of sinful man.

Yes. We already have our memorial. It’s called the ‘Eucharist’ or the ‘Lord’s Supper.’ Animal sacrifice is old covenant and no amount of Ezekiel quoting is going to change that.

I don't appreciate your tone of language. My previous ignored post rebuts your claims.

2 Timothy 4:1-8 informs us when this glorious (all-inclusive) number will actually stand to account before the throne of God, saying, I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom … there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Adam’s race – in total – are therefore judged “at his (Christ’s) ‘epifaneian’ (or) appearing and his kingdom.” This is an all-inclusive general judgment. The subjects involved and the occasion referred to could not be clearer.

It is at this great concluding event that both the righteous and the wicked will be raised to face the great final judgment. Notwithstanding, there are two aspects to the one all-consummating resurrection day. Jesus explains in John 5:28-29, “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

Please notice “the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth.” We are not just looking at the righteous, we are looking at both the righteous and the wicked. The passage goes on to confirm: “they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” All that are in the graves will come forth when He comes. The righteous will be ushered into His glorious kingdom, the wicked shall be damned for all eternity in the lake of fire.

The righteous and wicked dead all rise in response to the same sovereign voice - Christ's. Christ’s description of the resurrection depicts a unitary event, albeit in two parts. Part 1 is the elect; Part 2 is the wicked. Jesus explains in John 5:28-29, “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth.” Evidently there is only one resurrection albeit involving two separated aspects: “they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

There is one physical resurrection day in which there are two types of raising, (1) unto life, (2) unto damnation. Acts 24:15 says, “there shall be a resurrection of the dead (singular), both of the just and unjust.”

This verse speaks of a singular “resurrection of the dead” not multiple resurrections (plural) of the dead as the Premillennialist would try and intimate. The fact that Paul differentiates between the wicked and the righteous in no way proves that these are two separate resurrections coming at the end of two separate ages split by 1,000 years+ of history (filled with all the produce of the curse – sin, death and corruption). No, it simply demonstrates that there are two types of resurrection in the one final resurrection of the dead at the end. In fact, for Premils to insist on their concept is to force something into the passage that doesn’t truly exist. Scripture constantly distinguishes between the wicked and the righteous even though they are found participating in the same event at the same time. Why would anyone think it strange that the Holy Spirit would identify the two different parties that take part in the general “resurrection of the dead”? After all, it is a normal biblical procedure to distinguish between these two conflicting camps. Although to suggest that the identifying of these two distinct parties indicates two separate events at two separate times is illogical.

Jesus said in Matthew 12:41-42, “The men of Nineveh shall rise (anistemi) in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. The queen of the south shall rise up (egeiro) in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.”

The righteous Old Testament Gentile saint – the queen of the south – is raised at the same time as the wicked Pharisees of Christ’s day to stand before the same judgment seat of Christ.

This is further impressed in the parallel portion in Luke 11:31, only with an additional example, saying, “The queen of the south shall rise up (egeiro) in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh shall rise up (anistemi ) in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”

Here, the two main words used throughout the New Testament for resurrection are applied to the general resurrection that occurs on Judgment Day when the Old Testament time saints and wicked join the New Testament saints and wicked at the judgment. Remember the queen of the south and Nineveh are presented as Old Testament Gentile saints that will “rise up in the judgment with” the wicked unbelieving Jews of Christ’s day. There is no prolonged parenthesis period separating the resurrection of the wicked dead and the resurrection of the righteous dead. They both “rise up” at the same time. The Old Testament Gentile city of Nineveh is shown to “rise up in the judgment with” (or meta) the religious Jewish world of Christ’s day and “condemn it.” The Greek word meta (3326) is described in Strong’s concordance as “a primary preposition (often used adverbially); properly, denoting accompaniment; ‘amid’.”

Yes. We already have our memorial. It’s called the ‘Eucharist’ or the ‘Lord’s Supper.’ Animal sacrifice is old covenant and no amount of Ezekiel quoting is going to change that.

It is all speculations, theories and hypothesis. It is better and easier to let the Bible speak for itself.

Very interesting. Well this differs from my understanding; but I've made it clear that I have a limited understanding.

At least we're quoting the prophets here. That's a great place to start, when you're trying to explain prophecy. It's a refreshing approach.

I've never understood there to be a fiery wrath first, then the temple being activated, then Messiah's return.

I'll have to keep this sequence in mind as I read through the scripture. By this reading it would appear that YHWH does not call his people back until after the land is cleansed; correct?

Thank you. This thread needs more logic.

When all is said and done, that is all premillennialism can present - personal insults and evasive opinions. They cannot address the sacred text, because the Bible forbids their doctrine. I refer back to the multiple posts, and multiple Scriptures that has been avoided.
