Hi phoebe ann,

Is there some health concern for the baby that should be a concern? My son and his wife just had their new baby Wednesday a week ago.. Everything was fine, although they did keep him in the NICU for a couple of days because his blood sugar level was low. They gave him 3 days of intravenous drip with glucose until it stabilized over 60 and he went home on Monday this week. Parents and baby are doing fine, although the new hospital rules regarding visitors is a hassle for families. Once the mother was discharged they couldn't both go in to feed him for the couple of days he remained in the NICU. Only one parent at a time, so they'd each do 15 minutes or separate feedings.

Maternity wards are probably one of the safest places someone can be. Of course, once home, you do need to try and keep the baby home. I hope they do fine and the baby is healthy. My son even came home with a couple of the medical masks that no one can get, so that was a blessing for them.

God bless,
In Christ, ted
