According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Health and Security, the USA was prepared....
The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to face a global pandemic in a study released by the Nuclear Threat Initiative and Johns Hopkins Center for Health and Security in late 2019.

Wow, then I guess if we were so prepared that proves that the trump administration did a terrible job to capitalize on that "best-prepared" status!

You forgot this:"We made the case when we published it that yes, the U.S. and all the rest of the countries that score at the top should not sit back and just relax because first of all, they didn't have everything that they needed and deficiencies in any one area can potentially break the response," Nuzzo continued. "I think we're seeing some of that now."

This was the HHS just a month or so before the threat:

*Exisitng statutory authorities tasking HHS to lead the federal government's response to an influenza pandemic are insufficient and often in conflict with another.
*Currently, there are insufficient funding sources designated for the federal government to use in response to a severe influenza pandemic.

Did we have warnings:

"On Twitter and TV, Gottlieb, Bossert and Cohn, among others, struck an urgent tone, while the president insisted the virus was “very much under control in the USA,” even predicting in late February that the number of cases would be close to zero “within a couple of days” and falsely claiming that a vaccine would soon arrive. As of Thursday, the number of cases had sailed past 1,000 and a vaccine remains at least a year away."

Trump officials did sound the coronavirus alarm. They just don’t work there anymore.

"The intelligence community was warning of the danger posed by the novel coronavirus throughout January and February as the White House downplayed the threat and was slow to roll out nationwide measures, reports show."

Intel reports going back to January warned of coronavirus threat

"But according to a previously unrevealed White House playbook, the government should’ve begun a federal-wide effort to procure that personal protective equipment at least two months ago."

Trump team failed to follow NSC’s pandemic playbook

From a right leaning high accuracy site:

"As it improvises its way through a public health crisis, the United States has never been less prepared for a pandemic."

We were making our own tests just as the world was making their own as well. We got behind because the CDC test wasn't accurate. Not Trumps fault.

This has has been asked of you myriad times ...why not secure more tests from elsewhere? Why not pressure the FDA/CDC to open up the testing immediately in the face of their failure? Why lie about the availability of tests?

So if something is "inaccurate" how would you respond, when even third world countries have tests?

Who is the president? Do leaders take responsibility or simply look to blame? (Yes, it just so happened that the one's the "world" was making worked! After the failure we could have asked and received accurate test kits) That should have caused an immediate WH response to the failure... don't you think? Again, unless you have something to add instead of the same old "its not trump's fault the test failed"... trump is not responsible for the Coronavirus however, his response has been egregiously slow and inept! That is not a "liberal" comment...simply a statement of fact, whether you want to accept it or not!

why not secure more tests from elsewhere?
And i have answered many times. The answer is Because of FDA and CDC regulations.

Why not pressure the FDA/CDC to open up the testing immediately in the face of their failure?

No, i dont think Trump is guilty of failed CDC tests just because he is president. He did pressure the FDA after the testing problem was known

Trump couldn't foresee CDC testing failure. As far as the national stockpile of medical supplies goes, why is it Trumps fault that he inherited an inadequate supply of medical equipment? He inherited that from Obama.

Trump and Pence kept promising that there would be millions of tests by the end of the week and assured Americans that anybody who wanted one could get one - that was a month ago and there still isn't enough testing to meet the demand and provide an accurate picture as to where the federal government should be directing its limited resources!

Frontline medical staff in New York can't get tested but that didn't prevent all the staff and players of 8 NBA basketball teams arranged for arranging their own!

When questioned about preferential testing, this President was dismissive, missing his golden opportunity to reassure the American people that he would do everything in his power that access to COVIR-19 testing would be based on need, not one's ability to use money and/or connections to barge to the head of the line!

Trump said that anyone who needs a test can get one. That was before the CDC test was known to be flawed .

The problem is that he continued to make these claims long after that it became painfully obvious to everyone that the testing was stalled in the pipeline!

This is a reoccurring theme with this President that included accusing states and hospitals who were desperately seeking medical supplies for their staffs and patients, that they were engaged in hoarding and implied that they had nefarious motives when it came to dispensing with this surplus!

These are not the kind of accusations that "a stable genius" is supposed to direct toward the staffs of the nation's healthcare system who are literally risking their lives everyday to forestall a national crisis - especially when this President has absolutely no evidence to substantiate his claims!

Trump has done a good job. We could be looking like Italy right now.

Trump critics have criticized Trump for expressing hope in these difficult times. But what does Dr Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force say?

'The president is talking about hope for people and it's not an unreasonable thing to hope for people,' Dr Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, said at the daily press briefing.

Hi NA,

Well, if Dr. Fauci likes his job, he'll say whatever President Trump tells him to say. We never can tell if anyone's being honest with us anymore in this administration. Time after time after time, anyone who doesn't beat the Trump drum is soon gone. So, we always have to wonder if someone speaking in this administration is just telling us what the President has 'encouraged' that they say and not necessarily the truth.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Twitter felt compelled to delete the tweet by Rudy Giuliani, the President's personal lawyer, who made the false claim that hydroxychloroque was "100% effective" in treating coronavirus!

For this President and his lawyer, who have no medical expertise, to be orchestrating these claims of "miracle drugs" is beyond irresponsible behavior, and contradicts the advice of the White House's own resident authority, Dr. Fauci!

With the exception of FOXNEWS, America's media outlets must be having second thoughts about providing this President with more than an hour of daily, uninterrupted, free nationally televised coverage during prime time for a briefing when Trump abuses this privilege by using it as a venue to promote public demand for a drug with serious side effects and has yet to complete its clinical trials!

Trump has done a good job. We could be looking like Italy right now.
Despite having one of the best healthcare systems in the world, Italian politicians were slow to respond to the threat and take aggressive measures in limit its spread - that resulted in their medical staff and facilities being overwhelmed by a wave of patients!

Vice President Pence has already stated that based on the present projections America best marches that of Italy, with its 11% mortality rate, making it the last country on earth that the US would want to emulate!

Pence's statement comes with the implied admission that this nation will now be forced pay a very high price for the months of denials and mismanagement that characterized this Administration's response to the pandemic!
