I have a confession. I have a serious problem with alcohol. I have a serious problem with drinking. I know the truth. But I need to be reminded of it. I need people to remind me and show me that a drunkard will not inherit the kingdom of God. I need someone to remind me that God wants us to be sober. That God hates drunkenness. I need to hear these harsh words. It might rip me apart, but I need to hear it. I need this burning conviction to rip through me, to rip every part of my soul, to the point that I never ever pick up another drink ever again.

You need to be sober in all kinds of ways in order to be fully prepared for the kind of evil you may be about to face soon in this world or maybe with you personally in your own life soon or very soon, etc...

If your still drinking when it hits, there may be no saving you, etc...

But I will pray, and will continually be praying for you and those like you, K...

I never had a problem with alcohol, just wasn't ever my thing, but I had a pot/weed addiction for many years, but not anymore, God made me very aware aware that I needed to be very sober and in many more ways than just one, and that pretty much ended my weed addiction, etc, and since He is helping me to be sober (in many more ways than just one) I not only know He both can, but most definitely can and will help you overcome yours if you ask Him, and truly mean it, and become truly completely fed up with not being sober or living this life sober, etc...

And He will hopefully make you sober in many more ways than just one, etc...

This is not a time to be messing around and doing this life not sober, etc...

If God allows it, Satan can use you by coming into you temporarily during those times of being black out and completely forgetful drunk and not sober, etc, and can seriously mess up your life in those moments, and it only takes him one moment sometimes also, etc, one time of being black out or forgetful drunk to mess up your life for a very long, long time afterwards, just one, not something to be messing around with, K...

I suspect you have been being somewhat protected so far, but that protection can be removed for a short time, or for just one moment, and that's all it takes for Satan, just one temporary moment under the influence, or not sober, to seriously mess things (you life) up for you for a very long time, a lot of the time...

And hopefully that is a "sobering" thought for you...

Pray for you though...

God Bless!

what do you mean evil we are about to face
God will sometimes make us face great evil in order to sober us and get us to repent, scare us a bit, etc... Now do I know for sure if that will be the case in any or all cases, or in every single case...? No, I do not... But it is always the, or "the risk", etc...

If your doing things you can't remember or cannot recall under the influence, or if you are most especially blacking out, etc, then you are running and even greater risk in my opinion, and even more so the longer you are doing it, or are in it, etc...

God does let Satan have his way with people sometimes, in order that they might learn and repent...

And speaking from experience, it only takes him (Satan) only a split second or only a very temporary short period of time, in that state, and in the moment that he has you, to mess up your life very seriously, or for a long time afterwards, etc...

That could take a very long time to recover, etc...

God Bless!

this is the one I’m worried about friend:
Matt 7
22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’

I’m currently making lots of mistakes in my life and wondering how I can do this stuff and still have the Holy Spirit. But it seems like both you and me are convicted of sin and afraid of it. That’s a good sign I suppose! Grace covers but you gotta get accountability for the alcohol cuz that stuff will not be beaten with will power! Prayers up that Jesus will free you from the bonds for the rest of your physical life.

Remember addiction is a physical and mental illness, it’s not a “sin struggle.” You will have to fight this disease for the rest of your life but remember it isn’t your identity, your identity is in Christ alone. No sin, no struggle, nothing can make you NOT his.

I'm not going to be or get specific about the "great evil", but there is great evil coming both for the world, and for many individual lives, it is already in the world, but just has not hit everybody each individually yet, K...

Sometimes it only takes one look of facing that, to scare you straight, which God will sometimes do or allow to happen, etc, sometimes, etc...

God Bless!

You need to know why you drink. Alcohol abuse affects everyone you know as well as yourself. It near killed me. Do you need to drive? Not good when you are under the influence. None of those thoughts did much for me. I knew I was killing myself slowly. I quit for just one day. Then it got too much and I went looking for a bar. It was late and they were all closed. I cried. How pathetic is that! When I got born again, I realised why I drank. It was to try and anaesthetise my inner pain. I still had the habit for a while and in my arrogance thought that I could control it. No, it controlled me. I quit completely and got total freedom. That was the grace of God alone.

I have a different take on this.

An addictive personality is trying to find pleasure and fulfilment in directions that are self indulgent.

This amounts to Idolatry - seeking to be fulfilled by a substance or practice instead of the Father Heart of God.

For this reason one needs to confess wrong desires and pray for such a passion for Him that ones heart desires change over time.

Combined with this deep heart issue is the activity of the enemy of our souls wanting to keep us captive and ineffective in the battle for truth and true freedom. Our idolatry opens us up spiritually to captivity and this needs to be renounced with the agreement of mature and gifted oversight.

In some cases the journey out can be quite dramatic and months rather than years.

Jesus can break the bondage but one needs to be single minded about the process prioritising Him above all period.

Healing will take time in most cases - definitely years rather than months, but there are exceptions.

We have a close friend who lost everything to alcohol - marriage, job, the lot.

Jesus met her and restored her wonderfully - she has no desire for drink as He changed her heart. She is radiant for Jesus. A new creation.

So there is a way out with Him and it does not have to be a lifetime sentence. That is a lie of the devil who wants you to be permanently disabled.

But you must have a deep thirst for Him, and He will only give this if you ask with all your heart. If you struggle to be whole hearted ask for this as well.

The journey out is not about self effort, it is all about a heart change.

I know I present an alternative to the usual solution that tries to empower folks to manage their symptoms and remain dependant for life.

Jesus has a better way.

alcoholism isn't a sin struggle. It's a physical and mental illness. It's a sin, and a struggle, but it needs to be addressed spiritually and as a physical ailment. God uses medication, doctors, and therapists, and accountability programs and systems to answer prayers, not just overnight divine intervention. You probably won't be able to love Jesus enough to just quit drinking, it's going to take getting outside help and using your brain too.

I fully agree with this. It just takes one moment, one instant, and things can go downhill. You can mess up big time. And when I say big time, I mean big time.
