Interesting, so it is not possible to do what Christ did?
Desert doesn't necessarily mean waterless, but on the other hand Moses had neither food nor water for the 40 days he was on Mt Sinai.

People have gone 40 days on a water fast. Plenty people on youtube have chronicled their fast. But if you have a job that requires manual labor it's not recommended.

Jesus' fast does seem to be of a different nature to that of Moses or Elijah. Neither of the latter are reported to have been hungry after going without food for forty days (don't know if Elijah also went without water as Moses did) whereas Christ is reported as having hungered. Part of His temptation by the evil one was to satisfy His hunger by turning stones into bread.

Is there a calendar online with the different fasting rules for each day, like which days you can have wine, fish, oil and eggs?

the Greek Daily Reader app has them

A priest here was telling me that, for a few years, he and 32 members of his congregation have begun the first 14 days of Lent by fasting from all food. They just drink water, and some have black coffee. He says the first five days are hard, but after that it's very easy. He says they feel great and they don't even crave food, and after they start eating again they feel better physically than before they started the fast. I'm thinking of trying this in a day or two. Anyone here ever done this, or know someone who has?
I have fasted as such on occasion. The acidosis crisis is too much for some people, from what I've learned, so watch yourself if you do try this. I also urge you to watch the whole "Science of Fasting" documentary that Prodromos included the YouTube link to in his post.

How did Christ survive in the desert?
A human being who is not underweight can fast for about 40 days entirely from food. Shortly thereafter it becomes dangerous as the body begins living off of its own tissues, even critical organs such as the heart, and this can quickly lead to death.

Thus, it's probably accurate to say that the Lord Jesus Christ fasted in the wilderness to the very brink of death.

Thanks. Does the OCA have the same schedule rules on the same days?
generally yes, but there will be some small variations (with some different feasts allowing oil/wine or fish, etc.)
On Good Friday, is the schedule a full strict fast of no food or liquids from 12 am to 12 am?
I have heard it is -- if possible for the individual -- no food or drink for the entire day

It's not uncommon for some people (given a blessing by their priest) to fast the first three days of Great Lent. But they are allowed water (other drinks like tea) during the time, especially in arid, high altitude climates such as here in Colorado.

My husband has done that fast at least once years ago, and I think he tried it this year. He made it through, but it was pretty difficult because he was (and still is) working during those times. I have no desire to try any of that. lol I've got low iron issues since I was tested in late December 2019, and I've got low blood sugar issues, so fasting isn't too strict for me. This Lent, it's been even more lenient because of what I just mentioned. But we're doing all right.

Is there an OCA Calendar online that is comparable to the GOARCH Calendar?

The only way to get one that comes to mind is to get a paper one from a parish or monastery sent to you.

I think the OCA homepage

Unfortunately I did not see any calendar with fasting rules for each date on the OCA homepage.

yeah, just asked they have the cycles surrounding the major fasts, but not day by day.
