Well movies as a whole have flat lined out.

Because when art fail to convey beauty or a great story it basically becomes just a showing of technique, now a days cgi.

Example is this great drawing by Rembrandt
This drawing conveys so much.

Or this master piece by Phil May

And these hyper realistic drawing, which really only show a great rendering ability

How many people today could sit through the ending of The Third Man or appreciate its brilliance.

Or watch the theft scene in Rififi
half-hour heist scene depicting the crime in detail, shot in near silence, without dialogue or music.

UK movies and series are far better than the US.
I haven't seen many UK movies but their TV series are much better, at least they used to be. I like older shows like Father Brown, Sherlock, etc. Netflix has dropped some of my favorites.

The "Line of Duty" is amazing. The old "Wire in the Blood" is brutal but very well done. I would like very much to see a murder mystery series starring Robson Green and Jerome Flynn.

Just checked on Amazon and both of these are now there.

There is also 'Grantchester'. Robson Green plays a cop who solves mysteries with a vicar. That sounds like something I would like. It's in it's 5th Season on PBS.

I thought Jerome Flynn sounded familiar he played a cop in Ripper Street.

The last movie I saw was The Purge series. It was disturbing. Most of the programs I watch relate to food, travel, or home improvement.

I stumbled upon Marquee.tv and took it as a sign I needed better viewing options. :p

In all seriousness, the combination of performances from different groups is really neat. MetOpera on Demand, BroadwayHD, and Medici.tv are notable alternatives.
