The passage of Isaiah 26:17-21 has been at the forefront of my mind for quite a while now. In essence, it tells of a coming time when the living and dead of the Lord are gathered to Him, prior to His coming out of His place to judge the whole world.
This morning I saw someone else connect this passage with Zechariah 1:7-12, where the riders were on red, speckled, and white horses and reporting the earth is still and at rest. This is a great description of what is going on today, as lockdowns continue, and I assume will become more severe. It ties into the Isaiah passage because it culminates in Zechariah 2:13 with the Lord coming out of His place to judge the whole world.
He also mentioned Habakkuk 3:5-6, where the Lord is also coming out of His place to judge the earth, it states pestilence goes before Him and plagues follow after Him.
These are things to consider when discussing these ever-accelerating birth pangs. I found these connections very much worth considering. The worldwide reaction to the virus didn't catch God by surprise and might just be fulfillments of these passages, indicating the imminence of His coming.
