Mark 5:34 says that healing is possible with a sufficient amount of faith.

Indeed -- I have the utmost faith that I can stay indoors long enough for this pandemic to settle down to manageable levels. #flattenthecurve.

The fact that so many people in the United States will die of the coronavirus—indeed, it could well be in the millions, not hundreds of thousands—testifies to the fact that our country is lacking in faith. Let me put it to you this way: if every single American prayed tonight, confessed their sins, and said, “Jesus, let our land be healed!” then the coronavirus would be gone from the United States tomorrow. The effect would be almost immediate, if not immediate. Faith is arguably the greatest medicine ever invented.

All this, and yet I'll bet anything that every time you cross the street, you look both ways to see if any cars are coming.

And promised to vote Republican, of course.

That's utter nonsense. Countries all over the world, regardless of their faith or lack thereof, are being affected by this. If it came down to faith, we'd see lower numbers depending on the religion of the country in question. We don't.

It's a virus. It doesn't know or care what god you pray to.

Faith is arguably the greatest medicine ever invented.
'Arguably' is right!

Do you think it's any coincidence that the coronavirus first appeared in China, the most atheist and faithless country in the world? That says something, doesn't it? (By the way, I'm not implying that God caused the coronavirus. I'm just saying faithlessness can lead to bad things.)

What does voting Republican have to do with faith healing and the coronavirus?
It's been pushed up our noses pretty hard lately (even in this forum, which is strictly moderated) that you can't be a Christian and a Democrat both.

a) We know how the coronavirus came about. Atheism had nothing to do with it.
b) If what you say is true, we'd expect to see the least religious countries hit the hardest. That's not the case. Instead, countries like Japan and Sweden are doing okay, while countries like Italy and Spain are getting hammered.

Jimmy Carter was a good Christian, and he was a Democrat. It's possible to be a Christian Democrat, but most atheists/secular people are Democrats. It really isn't a black and white sort of thing, though.

I wouldn't jump to that causation.

But China does puzzle me a bit. It is one of the oldest civilizations known for wisdom and great culture and yet is is so backward and oppressive.

If you're not implying that God caused the Coronavirus (which you should, actually -- He's used plagues in the Bible), then what are you saying?

He’s might be concerned someone might call his god a monster for orchestrating this pandemic (quite possibly me) so he is likely trying to keep his god out of this.

It certainly explains why two of the most devoutly Christians countries in the world, Spain and Italy, are doing so well....oh, wait, that's the opposite of reality.

Ah, but to paraphrase the late Patrick Swazye, "Nobody puts God in a corner."

Either the buck stops with Him, or someone else is pulling the strings -- and last I checked, being God is a 24/7 job.

Indeed -- and it raises the peculiar theological issue: A God who operates miraculously has a lot to answer for whenever He chooses not to.

I'm calling the next talking point now:

<insert larger number here> Americans die each year from <insert cause of death here> so what's the big deal with this?

<puts on his finest Lee Atwater/Satan hat>

800,000 American babies are aborted each year, so what's the big deal with this?

The He should not be surprised when people choose not to praise Him.

I dont think praise is what God wants, rather, love one another. Be generous, merciful and just.
