See and that's funny to me dogs4thewin. I think the issue for me is viewing any kind of help for another person as an OBLIGATION instead of having a desire to help. I happily help folks if they need it, at least as much as I can.
I do too, but I do not see that as something that should be enforceable legally.

There’s too much emphasis on elderly. The crisis is about hospital capacity. Younger adults are hospitalized almost as much as older ones. It’s the death rate that’s different.

And when a 20 something gets infected but the hospitals are all full guess what happens! The death rate will remain different, but it will rise for all ages. People who would have survived with hospital case will die. Protecting the venerable will have become protecting yourself.

So's law AND strawman in one sentence.

What are your thought about what pandemic and medical experts were telling Trump for almost 2 months?

I think most were proceeding with some caution.

Absolutely
Many of us wouldn't be suffering so badly if we didn't put so much dependence on our government to take care of us. If we (the people) admit that we need to ultimately care for ourselves in these matters, then just maybe we'd be more prepared for the next big calamity. If history shows us anything, it's that God was serious when He promised frustration and sorrow to His sinning world.
Proverbs 27:12
A prudent man sees evil and hides himself, but the naive proceed and pay the penalty.
If history shows us anything, it is that humans have survived and thrived to the extent that we took care of each other and shared resources. The “everyone out for themselves” mindset, if applied across the board, would have made us extinct.

Funny thing though, you're not underprepared.

Remember? An article was shared that explicitly stated that the us was very well prepared.

Y'all suffer from ignorant, terrible leadership.

It's called representative governance.

Really depends on the situation. That is true in this type of situation, but in most cases it should not be on me to help you protect yourself ( at least not in a legal forced sense. I know for example we live right across the road from my grandparents, yet have seen very little of them in the past three weeks my mom and/or sister have dropped some things at their house and left. Grandfather has come to barrow a few things and left soon after. Why? because both sides realize they are in their eighties and therefore at higher risks.
I think the Bible is clear that we should be looking out for the most vulnerable among us, and love our neighbors as ourselves. It’s not a legal imperative, it’s a moral one.

Send tp...I'm almost out.

I was almost out, too. Then I went into the local mini-mart to get an energy drink before starting on my homework, and they had a pack.

My mother would call it a miracle.

No, mum, it was the delivery driver. Or maybe my DiffEQ instructor works in mysterious ways.

Curious. I really, really don't think they were. At all.

I'm just having trouble going back through news stories to get a better sense of it.

Let's see how many buy government bonds to fund the stimulus. There is already a run on banks for cash. I will leave my deposits in place however as it will be needed to keep banks solvent. :holy:
Well many people are losing their jobs and have little cash.

But you know who is still unbelievably flush with cash and could ACTUALLY be helping Americans? The 1%.

I hear the odd story of a celebrity doing something pretty nice with their riches, but on the whole, it seems like the rich are quite content to let most of this country die.

I mean to be fair, that shouldn't be a surprise. The Flint Water crisis is still going on and that needs a FRACTION of the money needed to solve that crisis.

It's been spun into confusion for sure.

The rich are ponying up huge amounts to fight against this crisis.

There's no excuse for the Flint water crisis. We health freaks have been preaching for decades against drinking, cooking, or bathing in, municipal water.

yes, but moral should not be done by force.

You hear that Christians, you shouldn’t be forcing people to not get abortions and not have same sex marriages because moral shouldn’t be done by force according to @dogs4thewin.

I think the wealthy are helping more than we know. There's a husband and wife in CT that have donated 3 million for hospital beds, etc., we just don't hear about them.

Here are some things companies are doing.

Creative Ways Companies Are Giving Back During The COVID-19 Crisis

And here's a story of a rich dude helping. Also Drew Breeze donated quite a bit as well.

Coronavirus: Clippers owner Steve Ballmer to donate $25 million to help with COVID-19 crisis

I think probably a lot of rich folks are helping. But they don't get much press. I'm guessing most if them do so quietly without a press conference. If someone famous does it, it garners press. If they are not, then not much is said.

Also, there are those that are buying test kits when they don't need them. Flying out of countries and whatever. So while some are helping others are not.

There's just no way to know or tell how many are doing either.

A lot of people have talked about Cuomo's public statements. I live in NJ. Gov. Murphy's daily updates are very different. He recognizes a variety of companies and organizations for their help. He thanks the President and Federal authorities, without condemning them for not doing enough, although he does indicates areas where we need more. He gives completely fact-based updates, and refuses to respond to press questions that might lead to controversial statements. You couldn't tell from these updates what party he belongs to. (He's a Democrat.)

He also provides a good example. In the Presidential updates, Trump has a bunch of people right behind and beside him. In Murphy's updates, there are a set of 6 foot tables across the front, with one person in the middle of each. (Murphy is recovering from cancer surgery. State officials are very concerned about keeping him healthy, although not so concerned as to get him a COVID test, for which he doesn't qualify.)
