A company has told employees that they will be docking their paychecks for the same amount they are to receive from the Corona Virus stimulus.

Here is the pdf of the form each hourly employee received.
I am no longer do much in the day to day running of the building services company I founded in 2011. I turned that over to Gonzo and Polly when I went to work for my Uncle Paolo. Two weeks ago I met with Gonzo and Polly. We have been in operation through the various shutdowns so far. The jobs are getting scarcer to to some of our clients closing. At a company wide meeting last Monday morning we assured every one of our employees that they will be on full pay regardless of even a complete lockdown.

I realize that I am responsible for the well being of 65 employees and their families. That is well over 400 people that are dependent on my payroll.

I will not let them down!

The direction taken by this national form in Austin to shake down their workers like this is shameful. I am apalled.

So that I understand this clearly ...

This employer is guaranteeing to keep his/her employees paid, despite what happens to the market as a result of coronavirus.

At the same time, the employer is requiring that his employees contribute the bulk of their governmental relief payments to this effort.

Although not ideal, it sounds like the employer has worked out a plan where both sides contribute to the firm and its employees being viable through this time.

Have I got it right ?

If I read this right the employees keep their jobs at full pay, and then just get stimulus money dropped in their laps? How’s this right? I understand the government is too lazy or too inefficient to figure out who really needs it, but as usual throwing money at the problem doesn’t fix the problem.
In our house we’re both retired. No change in income, so no need for stimulus money. If we get checks it’ll probably all go to the Church since the church hasn’t had a collection in weeks. If the company is losing money due to the virus, and is still paying employees, it looks to me like they’ve figured a way to stay solvent so employees will still have jobs 6 months from now. Am I missing anything?

One thing we don't know is if this company is shuttered by the current quarantine or if the workers are telecommuting. If they're telecommuting and therefore still working, then the company is simply withholding their just wages, which is wrong.

If it's shuttered, then I'm surprised they're paying even partial wages, but a better option would be furloughing workers so they can seek unemployment benefits.

Either way, there are better ways than simply withholding wages and trying to paint it as some call to solidarity.

I think i was not very clear in my OP. The company that is docking the workers wages is not giving out any guarantees. In fact, the article linked talks of layoffs.

From the linked article:
The worker told KXAN the company laid off a quarter of its workforce this week. He believed the company was using the salary cuts as a way to meet payroll. But, he thought the company hadn’t explored all options before making a “knee-jerk” response.

“The company that I work for is a national company and they make hundreds of millions of dollars in profit a year and instead of making sacrifices at the higher levels, they’re passing it on down to everybody else,” the worker said.

A quarter of those employees are already out of a job and on the streets.

My company, on the other hand, is guaranteeing my employees full wages and benefits no matter what effects the Corona Virus pandemic brings about. My people, and their families do not need to worry about their economic safety, nor will there be any layoffs. The 65 employees of **** Building Services LLC will be taken care of. We are solvent and I can take care of my people.

This stimulus is mainly for the economy to stay solvent and secondarily for individuals. Republicans (Senators) wouldn't have voted for it otherwise. Besides, it would be a pittance of what is needed if this stays in lockdown/shelter in place/stay home if it's extended, which it seems like now will be the case.

This is not welfare or unemployment
The purpose of this money is to help the economy get back on track

The capability to guarantee this is not possible with many/most companies ...

Then those companies should do the sensible thing and let their employees collect unemployment, instead of garnishing a government stimulus and treating it like solidarity.

What we don't know is whether the employees at this firm are still working. If they are, then this is nothing short of wage deprivation, which is one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.

Tried to order my coffee beans online last night and saw this.

PEOPLE FIRST

With our employees and their families’ wellbeing foremost in our hearts and minds, we’ve come to the conclusion it is time we temporarily halt operations. We like to think of our customers as part of our Coffee Bean Direct community and if ever there was a time to think of community, this is the moment.

We thank all of you for your continued business and support through the years. Your purchases have supported the 44 of us and our families; allowing us to live our lives…to put food on our tables and send our children to college, to have a roof over our head and to pay our bills. And so with gratitude we say thank you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Effective this morning, March 20, 2020 and until further notice, we will not be accepting any further orders during this temporary closure.

We will be back as soon as we can and hope you’ll be with be us too. We will post information on our website about our re-open for business date and keep you updated through our newsletters.

Let us all keep each other safe and be well. We send you not only our deepest thanks, but our fervent hope that you and yours stay healthy and strong during this difficult time.

The pizza place I usually order from is temporarily closing over this. It's just hitting everywhere.
