Arguing about Governor Whitmer's political actions is not the point of this discussion.
I agree.

Did she make a wise decision? Or was she an idiot? Neither opinion, if correct, has any bearing on how Trump treated her, and it is Trump's words that are under review here, not Whitmer's actions.
We cannot cover the one without also covering the other, but let's call it over, OK?.

I think you're saying let's not beat this into the ground, and I agree (nobody ever settled an argument online; all you can hope for is to state your view, maybe explain why with a few back-and-forth comments, and then let it go). All I want to close with is that my position is that whatever Governors Whitmer and Inslee did is totally irrelevant; Trump's conduct is inexcusable in any case. If you are saying that Whitmer's actions do bear on whether Tump's conduct was justified, then I disagree with you, but I am content to leave it at that. Or am I misunderstanding you?

That would be Trump's defense of what he did, but, honestly, judging from my own observations and not the reporting of what he calls the Fake Media, I think Trump's weak defenses of his own mistakes just add evidence that he is unfit for the office of President. I mean, even if the governors were just whiny complainers (which I do not think is the case), that is completely irrelevant. A Christian does not treat a "respectful" person nicely, but a "disrespectful" person like dirt.

And a Christian has there eyes open and can generally see what is right in front of them.

He calls the medea fake because they are fake. Hello? They have been making things up about Trump for years now...It's kinda' hard to miss the fact.

Is this a joke? The federal government are supposed to be coordinating the national effort, making manufacturers produce equipment and distributing stockpiled equipment to where its most needed. And the president is advising the man in charge of the national response to not talk to governors who don’t say nice things about them.

There is absolutely no way to spin this as anything other than despicable. Please don’t cheapen yourself by trying.

Of course it's not a joke, and again, no answer to my question which attempts to figure out just what is happening here, or is the truth something we don't want to get into. ;)

New Jersey, you say?

Ironic when you are talking about being fake when this president literally called this virus a hoax a month ago.

The media has been far too kind to Trump.

He's killing Americans, he deserves to be treated in such a way. It won't be long before Trump has killed more Americans than Osama bin Laden. And all for his ego.

You seem to be lumping together things that I count separately. When I say "Fake media" I mean those rags like the National Enquirer which report unsubstantiated gossip, wild conspiracy claims (like UFOs), and occasional items that are, indeed completely made up, yet they know how to get around libel laws and avoid lawsuits. On the other hand, the "mainstream media" generally are reliable, although it is true that they often betray a partisan political bias and occasionally are caught publishing things that violate their own guidelines. Well-known reporters have been guilty of journalistic misconduct, just as Catholic priests, medical doctors, police officers, and other respected professions have had to deal with "bad apples" from time to time. But I cannot go along with the idea that the New York Times is no different than the Enquirer. Or that Fox News is a propaganda machine for the Republican party.

As far as the mainstream media "making up" things about Trump, the first things I think of are claims he has made which the media have disproved. He said the crowds at his Inauguration were record-setting. The photos showed crowds much smaller than previous inaugurations. He said he won the election by a huge margin. He actually won less than half of the popular vote, and his electoral margin was solid, but he did better that only two of his predecessors since 1972: George Bush (twice) and Jimmy Carter. Everybody else--Obama, Clinton, Bush Senior, Reagan, and Nixon--won more electoral votes than Trump did. And I remember the times he said "I never said that" when it was right there in the recording.

Trump famously tweeted "“The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @CNN, @NBCNews and many more) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American people. SICK!” early in his Presidency, on February 17, 2017. That was not a responsible tweet, or a credible one.

Nope. There's nothing to fault the President for in that comment.

In fact, his assessment is so widely accepted that I am somewhat surprised that it was the example chosen by you. There must be a few good ones somewhere on the Google pages.

When this period is all said and done your choices will be lying about having ever supported Trump or being a social pariah. I don’t envy your upcoming plight at all. Trump’s presidency will be a vicious permanent black eye on America’s history.

Is that what your group has been reduced to? What a comedown from the brave days of yore when they confidently predicted victory in 2020 or that Trump would be impeached and removed from office before that or even that they could stop his inauguration. And now it's just, "You'll be unpopular with us." :|

No, I will let it drop now. We have both stated our case. I believe that the American media are basically reliable, whether their political bias is Left (New York Time, Washington Post) or Right (Fox News). You believe that they are really, truly, the Enemy of the People, and are comfortable with verbiage of the sort that reminds me of the Soviet Union era denunciations reported on by Tass and Pravda.

Nothing more really needs to be said.

I have no group. I’m still predicting Trump loses in November. Liberal tears don’t bring family members back from the dead no matter how much spin Fox News tries to put on it. With The pandemic in blue area right now Trump has the opportunity to use this as an advantage but his lack of foresight is going to let this into red areas of the country where their lack of foresight on health systems (not expanding Medicaid, rural hospitals closing) the virus will shred them. Sure some Trump supporters could watch Trump snapped their dog’s neck like a twig and still vote for him but not everyone is that deluded. He won on razor thin margins last time. Generational shift and a virus that hits elderly hardest is already working against him. Anything short of cheating on his part is going make the election a tough task for him.

I actually had hoped that winning the election and the gravity of the office would see him rise to the challenge but he was worse than I imagined. This has been an utter catastrophe for our country and history books will reflect that.

The impeachment wasn’t going to actually remove him from office. Republicans have tied a fine noose around their necks where they can see Trump is costing them future elections in the decades to come (think of all the Latinx people who are socially conservative Catholics. Just ripe to vote Republican. Unfortunately Trump has destroyed that for a generation) but cross him now and his supporters (not Republicans Trump supporters) will burn you to ground and cost you the election. So of course the Republicans would never vote to remove Trump. Democrats did it so history books wouldn’t view them as complicit in this tragedy of a presidency.

LOL!

I know, the virus had nothing to do with kiling people...it's all Trump.

If indeed he did say the virus was a hoax, I'm sure it had everything to do with the media's past of crying wolf. Hoax is probably the first thing I would think too, at least until I confirmed it....so what?

The news media IS like the National Enquirer...remember the reason for impeachment? It was all made up...nothing there. They, like many here make things up about Trump constantly because they can't stand the fact he turned out to be the best president yet. He's all over getting the country straightened out and they hate him for that especially, as it throws it right in the face of Dems and the like, that they were wrong about him, and the reality is, he knows exactingly what he is doing.

I'm glad I don't live in complete denial on this.

Great stuff Americans. You keep playing that violin concerto whilst your country burns.

What exactly does that mean? I mean are you really saying Trump is doing the burning? Amazing.

LOL, trump didn't start the fire, nor is he the fire, he is only stopping the fire and doing as good a job as any. Sorry, as usual there is simply nor reason to berate him.

And why do you think they can't stand it? You sincerely believe that Trump is the "best President yet" and is "getting the country straightened out," right? Those of us who don't support Trump believe just as sincerely that he the worst President since James Buchanan and is running the country into the ground, destroying all that America stands for.

For one, did you happen to check the jobless rate out before the virus hit? Go look it up, check out the stats, and that's just to name one, but one would have to open their eyes in order to see all of them.

Denial is a terrible thing.

What exactly does that mean?

It means the people on this board are so far gone in hyper partisan hatred that they cannot see the 500' wall of water heading in their direction.

I mean are you really saying Trump is doing the burning? Amazing.

I'm literally not. My comment was about the other posters in this thread and had nothing to do with Trump.

However, your analysis of my post truly is "amazing".

LOL, trump didn't start the fire, nor is he the fire, he is only stopping the fire and doing as good a job as any. Sorry, as usual there is simply nor reason to berate him.

You play the violin well.

Yes, Trump kept Obama's recovery going, good for him. But he is still dancing to the tune of right-wing religious extremists, fanning the flames of the culture war which divides the country and is hampering efforts to deal with the contagion.
