I wanted to ask which Gospel tracts you would recommend giving out to people including coworkers? I ordered a bunch of tracts from an organization that prints them for free as a ministry. However I have been uncomfortable handing out these tracts because they tend to be pushy about the eternal consequence of going to hell and use old fashioned King James English in Bible quotes. Example from one tract "The wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23 ... "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (from Revelation). In a Christmas tract that compares eternal life to receiving a gift, the tract says the consequences of not receiving the free gift is an eternity of suffering in hell.

I think that it is probably the truth that the eternal consequences for sin is suffering in hell forever, but I am very uncomfortable giving people that need Jesus this kind of information in a tract in a way that to me appears overly pushy. So I have been trying to find tracts that do not have information about the subject of hell, or tracts that are more tactful in how they present this warning.

Does anyone have Gospel tracts that you give to people personally that you would like to recommend?

An additional point of discussion to ask about in this thread is how can you give out tracts to people safely during the coronavirus situation? Because of the virus situation people may have matters of life and death and eternity on their minds more, but at the same time, people might be uncomfortable with people giving them tracts because they might think this could risk transfer of germs. I am thinking about maybe a wallet or container where the tracts could be kept safe from any germs in my pocket and use hand sanitizer in the person's presence before giving them the tract. I don't know if random strangers would accept that but this procedure is something I am thinking about when giving a specific coworker a Gospel tract who has been involved in some spiritual discussions with me already and who might be in need of salvation.

I also thought I would explain that the issue I am trying to resolve here is my disobedience to the Lord in failing to share the Gospel with my friends at work, so having a good tract might help me be more willing to start a conversation. In the past when I was involved in door to door evangelism with my church, the leader shared that there was criticisms of doing evangelism going on in our church. So I am not seeking advice that would discourage my efforts to share my faith, but just your recommendations about what would be a good tract to give people that is better than the ones I have that I think come across as too pushy in how they are written.

"Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words." A Christian life well-lived is better than any tract.

Give me one and it would go directly into the waste basket. Maybe you should do a compairison poll on here about how many were led to Christ through a tract. I say save a tree.

I used to use these in Central L.A. but they seem to be undergoing some changes. They do take mail orders.

While Chick Tracts appear to be heavily focused on hell as a part of what we are being saved from in most of their tracts, they do have two good tracts that are a little more less condemning on the topic of hell and it focuses more on the love of God. You can check them out here:

I wanted to ask which Gospel tracts you would recommend giving out to people including coworkers?

I have read 100's of them. Reading them was followed by my born again commitment at age 30.

I suggest you ask people how they spend their time, and "Tell me more about that."
As the conversation is ready, them ask them "Why is that important to you?"
Don't give advice. Just ask deeper questions. As you did deeper into "Why?" you will become important, to them. Keep track of their response going about 7 levels deep. At some point they might ask you about your beliefs and if appropriate, you can tell them and have the appropriate tract to leave them with.
But if you practice this method with everybody, it might be the best conversation they have ever had and will never forget it.

This is the solution you seek.

In case people on here object to this, I thought I would mention that people are still using cash to make purchases at stores at the present time I think.

(Yes, people are still using cash to make purchases.)

I'm interested in hearing answers to the questions you ask. :)

I've been thinking about tracts, too, as I can see many potential opportunities to evangelize during this Covid-19 crisis.

I'm familiar with the type of tracts used in years past and have been wondering if they would be as effective now? The Bible does not change, truth does not change, but it seems our world has changed so much since then ... and so would tracts that were written effectively for the 70's, 80's, etc., be as effective today? (Not sure ... )

Back in the 70's, a coworker had a radical conversion and began passing out tracts (The Four Spiritual Laws). He gave me one; I read it; it made me think; something in it spoke to my heart. A few years later, I gave my life to the Lord. That tract was the first of many things the Lord used to draw me to Him, so I do know the use of tracts can be effective, though we may not see the 'result' of our efforts until we get to heaven ...

May God bless you in your efforts to evangelize.

Pushy? The Gospel is about salvation. So the question is salvation from what exactly?

I don’t see how you can avoid preaching the Gospel of Christ dying and rising for our sins without presenting the consequences of sin.

Preaching the Gospel is about “dragging” a person up Mt Sinai and the perfection of God’s Law where there is fire and billowing smoke from the Presence of God. And then showing them the Glory of salvation in Christ Jesus Who is our Mt Zion.

Hebrews 12: NASB

18For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, 19and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. 20For they could not bear the command, “IF EVEN A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED.” 21And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I AM FULL OF FEAR and trembling.” 22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, 23to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of therighteous made perfect, 24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

A few months before: I received a simple regular Christian tract with just plain words, and I could not understand what was being said. It was just a bunch of words to me. But when I received a Chick tract, it was super clear to me what I needed to do, and I felt the words from Scripture in the tract convicting me to repent and accept Jesus as my Savior. The visuals helped me to see what the Word of God was saying. Granted, other people may be different, but I believe visuals brings it up a notch for a person to see the truth.

I would prefer to have a real conversation with people. Tracts tend to shut those doors for the people in my circle of influence. The only traction you'll get with a reaction to a tract is when you criticize the tract with them.

None, respect social distancing. Calling, texting, or social media are much better avenues in this time.

I also thought I would explain that the issue I am trying to resolve here is my disobedience to the Lord in failing to share the Gospel with my friends at work, so having a good tract might help me be more willing to start a conversation.
You know your co-workers better than I do. I'm guessing that you've bantered with them before, and have a better idea of what would hook them into a Gospel conversation than I would. If you're not sure about a tract after you have prayed for someone specific and read the tract and thought it over, it's probably not a good idea to use that particular tract.

Yeah, this probably isn't the best time to hand out tracts. Tracts are simply a mode of communication, but not the only one, for sure. Your greatest witness is how you are towards others. If your love is exceptional and obvious, then people will be curious and you can have a natural conversation. Six feet apart, of course. Whatever the case, tracts are a bad plan, right now.

When the time comes that you can once again hand out tracts, keep in mind that tracts were a form of communication that was reasonably effective before we had computers and all these newfangled devices. What are the chances you hand someone a tract and they throw it away? Probably, pretty high. In a world of limited resources, that just doesn't sound like a good plan. I bet there are more efficient, more effective ways to share your faith than a paper tract. But, don't let me sway you one way or another. You're a reasonable person.

Thank you for the responses to this thread. I did not intend to start a debate, although some of the issues involving evangelism strategies and consequences for sin in the afterlife may be controversial to discuss. I actually tried to be sneaky and edit the end of my initial post so that some of the posters would not notice my disagreement with them.

I think that the Chick Tracts can be really good and effective to lead someone to salvation. However some of the material they give to new Christians involves telling people that it is wrong to listen to Christian rock music and that you should only read the King James Version. I am not mentioning this to start any debate, but I thought I would mention that I am not comfortable leading people to Christian organizations that in my opinion lead people to legalistic expectations.

I think that people are right that with the coronavirus situation it may be wiser to find other ways to share. However after church yesterday there was someone by a gas station that was asking me for money to be able to ride the bus and get some food and I gave him a gospel tract with some cash. In this case I was willing to give out one of the tracts that was more pushy that said "Where will you spend eternity" on the front. However I recently purchased a number of "Peace with God" tracts from Billy Graham's organization that do not elaborate on eternal punishment. Those tracts are more expensive to buy and are actually booklets and so I am thinking of looking for the kind of tracts that are just one folded piece of paper with the information on the inside and back of the tract.
