These hoaxers were very smart.
They concocted the hoax in 1967 when AGW was still on the fringe and made the prediction that paradoxically AGW would cause the lower stratosphere to cool while the troposphere warmed up.
This was confirmed by satellite measurements from 1979 onward.
This cannot be explained by changes in solar activity or Milankovitch cycles.

What are you babbling on about now?
Satellites measuring stratospheric temperatures in IR do so by using three channels of a Stratosphere Sounding Unit which is an IR radiometer and measures the amount of IR absorption by CO₂ at 15μm.
The three channels absorb IR radiated from the Earth's surface but the CO₂ pressure varies in each cell and corresponds to a different altitude in the stratosphere; at 29 km for channel 1, 37 km for channel 2 and 45 km for channel 3.
The facts are the amount of IR absorbed by CO₂ for each channel has been been decreasing since satellites began measurements in 1979 even after factoring in phenomena such as the ozone hole; so your claim of increasing CO₂ levels having no effect on the amount of outgoing IR radiation is complete utter bogus.

If you wish to accept the methodology behind the hockey stick then you cannot simply reject the same sort of methodology when it is used by the OP. I reject both the OP's and Mann's use of a kind of methodology that uses one type of measurement for one period of time, jumps to another type of measurement for a later period of time and then draws conclusions comparing the two time periods as if they were being measured by the same measuring stick. If one wishes to reject one conclusion based upon not accepting that sort of methodology, then to accept the other despite it being based upon that sort of methodology would be illogical.

I either forgot the Oregon petition of 1998 or missed it as I was more interested in anti-creationism at the time.

Frederick Seitz, cover letter: solid state physicist (Wigner-Seitz cell), founder of the conservative think tank "George C. Marshall Institute", tobacco industry consultant (ugh!)

By 2013 there were apparently 31,000+ signatories with about 9000 Ph.D.s

One analysis of total signatories seems to show only 39 climatologists (you know the relevant experts).

There seems to be a lot of general issues with the petition: unverified names, prank submissions, etc. Not to mention the apparent on-going nature of its accumulation of names that make it difficult to track who and why they are on the list.

It does now seem familiar. It's also a jumbled mess of "don't wreck the economy with the Kyoto protocol" and "extra carbon dioxide will be good" and equivications like "catastrophic heating" "disruption of ... climate".

This is utter nonsense, it's not linear and it always gets better, too much co2 can be a problem for plants too plus it taps out, after that it just raises temperatures. PLUS it will be great for Canada, while the US will lose much of it's growing areas.
