I am new!

My username stands for "Worry Less, Pray More" because that's something I have to remind myself A LOT! I have very bad anxiety and the current situation of the world of course is very hard. I know God has got this, I know that worrying and panic over every little thing (and even the big things) won't do anything. I want to learn to rest in the Lord better and learn as much as I can about everything that has to do with our magnificent Creator. I have always considered myself Christian and was baptized and all that but now I am really starting to want to actually grow in faith. Is this the Holy Spirit moving in me? Stirring me to life?

Hello @wlpm85, WELCOME TO CF

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with bad anxiety right now, but it seems like He has you moving in the right direction to overcome it and trust Him instead :) Philippians 4:6-8 has been a helpful passage for me to remember (as has 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18), especially the part about thanksgiving (which is sometimes overlooked). In fact, particularly in my most anxious moments, I begin looking for things that I can thank Him for, even the smallest of things, as I have found that this is often the key to moving back to remembering/trusting/knowing that (as you just said above) He's "got this":oldthumbsup:

Here's a short video (an excerpt from a sermon) that I believe will be a blessing to you (it's by the same pastor whose quote you will find in the graphic below in my signature line, Chuck Swindoll). It's called: TRUST GOD!

As for the Holy Spirit working in your life right now, I think that there is no question that He is :) After all, He promises to sanctify us/grow us up in Christlikeness throughout our lives, as well to see us safely through this life to be with Him in Glory .. e.g. Philippians 1:6, 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; Hebrews 7:25, Jude 24-25.

God bless you! (Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 40:31, 41:10; Romans 8:28)

--David

1 Thessalonians 5
23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body
be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

It is indeed the Holy Spirit moving in you. One great prayer to ask God to establish the desires of your heart according to His will. Our will follows our desires. (It's the secret to all sales techniques - if your desire can be stirred up, you will buy.)

It is also helpful to ask God to watch over your thoughts. We often find that our thoughts are opposed to God's will. It's also helpful to pray for the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation. We need to take it seriously. If God shows us something, write it down. Also ask Him to make the revelation a part of us so we do not lose it.

One warning. If God shows you something to do, obey. Otherwise we defile our conscience and lose fellowship with God.

Hi there!

What a great user name! I love it. I remember praying for patience when my kids were young, and I became so tested in that area! It was a good learning experience for me. God strengthened me through my weakness, He became stronger in me and life was made easier as I started to submit more to His will instead of mine. I’ve found that growing in the Lord is a life-long process and there are always areas that He is trying to help guide me through.

One book that I am currently reading is, “The Complete Works of EM Bounds on Prayer.” It is a huge book, but you can just imagine what great nuggets of information is there to glean from! I also read my Bible every day and try and discern what the Lord is trying to teach me, it puts my mind in the right place to start my day.

I learned from Dr. Charles Stanley to ask two questions when I am faced with adversity or challenges in my life. The questions are: “What is the Lord trying to teach me in this? and “How does the Lord want me to respond?” So, for in being anxious, I would ask, Lord what is it that You are trying to teach me? Is it to trust Him more? To order my thoughts? Rest in His presence? What does the Bible tell me?

I pray that you grow in the Lord in ‘leaps and bounds’ and that you find peace through what is happening around you. We have no control over what is going on, but we can find refuge and peace in knowing the One who is in control. Right? Blessings, my friend.
