Even if you were married or agnostic, this is a highly stressful time that calls for abstinence, so I hope you will not even have the desire, let alone be tempted.

Even if I were sexually active, I have had a vasectomy and my girlfriend is on birth control to control her periods.

Yes, that.

Lots going on both outside of and inside my mind and sometimes I read something wrong.

IBD is Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s Colitis. If you don’t have those, your GI issues do not present additional risk factors.

I have Crohn’s disease. There is a protocol for risk assessment being instituted by DHHS via your doctor. If you haven’t been contacted for risk assessment, your GI issues will not complicate Corona more than the average person.

With the coronavirus ramping up here in the states, and me being an EMT, I have a decision to make.

I have an underlying condition, asthma and now they are saying digestive issues can play a part, I also have irritable bowel syndrome. My girlfriend has sjogren's syndrome with is an autoimmune disease and my kids have asthma as well. So, there is a lot of potential for bad things to happen. Hence, the decision to make.

There is no work from home solution for me. It's out on a truck or nothing with my job. So, if I take a leave of absence, there will be no pay coming. I was already struggling, this would make it impossible. There is hope in the government stepping in and giving us a one time or two time payment, that could help, but not really sure.

My girlfriend may end up working from home, but she works for the state and they would pay her anyway.

We have discussed moving in together for the time being, while all this is happening and if I decide to take a leave of absence. I would have a place to live, food in my stomach and a place for my kids to come to when I have them. The situation is not ideal as a Christian, but these are less than ideal times so to speak.

Do I take the leave of absence, which could also lose me my job (I can get another one with another company pretty easily) or do I risk getting covid-19 and possibly end up with pneumonia in the hospital because of my asthma?
That is a very difficult question you have to answer and I am truly sorry for you situation. Our 4 adult children seem to be doing fine but our grandchildren on the other hand are not working as I understand it. This situation is everywhere in America and banks that want to foreclose or reposes a vehicle will be very much overworked and underpaid if they do so while the country is under duress. There are simply too many who fall in the category of not being paid. Your situation is somewhat unique. I have emphysema and have had pneumonia at least 3 times as I recall and should have died the first time. God promises to feed cloth and house all of His children. However are to tempting The Lord your God by purposely putting yourself in harms way? I do not think so. The job you have chosen always puts you at risk for something. All health care professionals know from the beginning that they will be working with sick people and consequently be exposed. For that reason alone you have my respect and my prayer.

find a creative way to marry her now. Check to see if you can get a job with the state too.

Hi isilwen

You could forego the fear and anxiety and trust God. It's my understanding that there are procedures in place to greatly reduce any risk of contracting the virus by medical professionals. So, you could get up tomorrow morning, dress and have breakfast and head out the door to your job and tell God that you're trusting Him to keep you safe.

You are of course correct that your medical conditions may make it more difficult to recover if you contract the virus, but until that time, it means nothing. However, it's your choice. As you said, you can get another job easily.

God bless,
In Christ, ted

I actually did "quit" today, but they wouldn't let me.

I had gotten attitude for wanting to do the right thing with a body removal where she had all the symptoms of the Coronavirus, but was met with an attitude and that she just has the flu or pneumonia from a higher up. I wanted to decon the truck, and was told no, have other patients to pickup and they were working us 16+ hours after possible exposure to the virus.

They don't care about us or the patient's we serve. They only care about the money we will make them.

This is why I wanted to do a LOA. This company doesn't care if I contract it and if I do, they will just blame me for not taking the proper precautions. The law enforcement officers on scene were flabbergasted that my company was not taking this more serious.

So, after much contemplation today, after that call, I decided to self quarantine and not take a chance spreading out to other people, especially the immune compromised we transport on a daily basis. My supervisor never responded after I texted him what I was doing. Not sure if I still have a job.

I am at peace with my decision. I made the right call and if I get fired, I get fired.
