Wait a sec. Nobody that I'm listening to says millions are going to die in the US. They're saying that's what would happen if we don't do anything. The Chinese did something. The US is doing something. It's perfectly possible to get the transmission rate from 2.5 per person to below 1. It looks like the state of Washington is close to managing it in the US. I assume those who put controls on later will as well. NYC is probably going to be the hardest.

Furthermore, the real problem isn't the number of people dead but the fact that the medical system can't handle the ones who are ill. That problem is also solvable in the long run.

The next question is what happens once you've stabilized it. The WHO is warning people that before they remove controls they have to be prepared to do contact tracing for all new infections. To my knowledge the places that have stopped it are doing that. I think the US is fairly far from being able to.

I think this is a good example of the media trying to instill fear in people. Although I certainly can understand why older people would be a little concerned. Because if I understand correctly, the majority of people that die from it are older.

But there are plenty of younger people in the hospitals. They can stress the medical system just as much as the person that dies. Maybe more so, because they’re around longer.

Yes, but only because of the response to it has it slowed in and outside of China.

You have to remember that disease spreads exponentially, and we have kept the numbers growth very close to linier.

What kind of numbers do we shoot for? China is shut down.
